Socks on TV!
It’s been far too long since I let my inner costuming nerd run rampant with Socks on Film. But this time let’s turn to the smaller screen. Some of these stylish stars will be familiar to you from our “As Seen on TV” Pinterest board, but I think we’ve got a few surprises for you too. Be sure to check out some of my linkage, I’ve tucking some pre-built searches around here if you want a similar look, but not the sock pictured.
In 2009 and 2010, we started hearing a lot about some socks worn by Eliza Dushku’s character, Echo, in the show Dollhouse. Off white, crochet look thigh highs. Why, that sounds quite like the Open Crochet Over the Knee!
Another foxy TV lady has a much subtler stocking. Audrey Horne of Twin Peaks rocked sheer stockings (or hose, like the Sheer To Waist Pantyhose) with her saddle shoes and pumps. Bare legs were not an option for a classy dame like Miss Horne.
More sock-tastic television after the jump!
Agent Seeley Booth of Bones rocks awesome socks, and the Michael Multistripe Midcalf in Espresso are a perfect match for one pair it looks like he is pretty fond of.
It’s easy to match the mis-matched stylings of Punky Brewster by rocking a solid knee high with one that has stripes. But for the classic look, all it takes is a plain white sock and a pair of the Ruffle Striped OTKs in Ochre, Navy & Hemp.
Another TV show with a lot of sock options that we’ve had questions about is iCarly. Sadly, we don’t know who makes the light-up socks Spencer wears (we think they’re probably custom-made for the show). But you can get a close look to his warm-toned wide stripes with the Extraordinary Striped Thigh Highs in Ochre & Spice.
Although Abby from NCIS would probably love shopping in our Halloween section, she does love her basic black arm warmers, which look like a solid match to the Harajuku Arm Warmers. What I love about this style is that it is very easy to slip your thumb out and slide them down your arm, freeing your hands. It seems like something a scientist like Abby would appreciate too!
I’m sure there are bunches more—what socks have you spotted on your TV?
