Rarely does a movie make more than a ripple in our sock world.
We’ll get the occasional query or request for something someone saw somewhere.
But before this year’s Batman even came out people were looking for socks like the Joker wore. And true to the dedicated nature of many of our sockaholics they even provided images and clues to start us on our hunt. First we brought in this version from Foot Traffic:

and for $7 it is a great deal, especially if you’re in the US and choose our standard free shipping (which will usually get them to you wicked fast). We’ve seen these socks elsewhere for more, plus shipping. In fact, some of our sluethiest customers have pointed out Ebay sellers selling this exact sock for $20+ using our images and words altered ever-so-slightly. Yes, this has happened more than once or twice, and yes, I always send the sellers a nice note about copyright infringement.
Now, thanks to the help of our friends at Tabbisocks, we have this custom version created just for us! First I had my imaging assistant Brenna do a layout of colors. This was a huge challenge as we required more consistency than the original had, plus, you can’t outright copy something like that. Next Tomomi sent our request to their mill in Japan and came up with what we think is a darned fine representation of this years hottest Halloween accessory. And you don’t even have to be a guy to wear them! They have a great stretch that allows them to fit from small feet to large.

Only $13 with no presale wait or extra shipping charges
(unless you are outside the US, or choose expedited shipping, of course).

Last month a local woman contacted Sock Dreams telling my staff of her lovely wares and asking if we were interested. Bsti intercepted an email with her link and told me I really needed to see them. No, I don’t need to see any more must have socks right now, we already have more coming than I can possibly manage sanely, but curiosity always gets me and sure enough, they’re awesome!

So I wrote her and we met and I ordered and she screen printed, resulting in a lovely assortment arriving as our starter order. Now, as I mentioned, I am swamped (just the way I like it btw, but I am forever overestimating how much I can accomplish in a day) so I decided they’d be store only til we catch up and can get them all properly photographed. But I just know some of you are going to love them!

Here’s the basic information: the knee highs are made in the US, nylon trouser socks, then they are screen printed by hand with the best patterns I have seen, every edge is perfect, no weird gaps or overlaps. The colors are black with silver or gold and red, maroon, brown & olive with black (swirls only on the colors).
The wrist warmers are soft yummy velvet with a mehndi pattern screen printed on in copper (as specially requested by me because it looked awesome and I didn’t want to bother with silver & gold).

So, if you are brave and willing to play a little game with me, I’m going to let you buy them with the catch that you can only suggest a color and we’ll choose the pattern and send them off to you with a wink and a smile.

Amidst the deluge of delectable new styles coming at us right now

They just arrived yesterday afternoon and will be more of a store exclusive for now
…til we catch up with picture taking, editing, reviewing ect.
at the moment I only have pictures of the pair I got for Bsti
(because he drooled all over them when I showed him the samples!)
when I return home later this evening I will prepare a silly way to share the fun with the rest of you, more later…

Years ago, when I still did all the sock-related work myself, and often checked and replied to sock related emails at all times of the day and night, I became friends with several of my best customers. Some I knew only by their email names in the beginning. Becky Jones always wrote me as Millionairess Rebeckah, sharing her opinions, reviews and pictures, in time I invited her to be an official sock girl and she became known here as Miss Rebeckah. I don’t think she ever revealed to me what her health condition was, but did occasionally indicate that it was a hard battle for her as her frailty became apparent in her images. I actually asked her to leave the image above out of a review she did for the chenille warmers earlier this year, but tonight I feel it should be shared… earlier today I got an email from her brother telling me she passed away on August 28 due to complications with Sarcoidosis.
She left instructions for him to tell me and wanted me to share the news with those of you who knew Becky online. Bsti has also posted on LiveJournal’s Socks are Fun.
Miss Rebeckah did 23 reviews here during the last two and a half years.
here are a few of my fav’s…
the Pirate post
Right on their heels…
Stop!…
Her last post here was published this past May.
We’ll miss you Miss Rebeckah, may your toes always be warm, wherever you are.

It’s Monday morning and I have so much to do and say that I’ve no clue where to begin. I have to hurry in to work because we’re a tad short handed this morning so I don’t get to have my lazy morning at home editing all the images we’ve shot in the past week[s]… I haven’t added many new items lately, but wow do we have a lot coming!!! including these fabulous satin gloves that I shall make live this evening. …when you put them on, they’re so luxurious
you’ll effect an accent & feel a need to hide from the paparazzi
…oh the things we’ll show you in the coming weeks!!!
But first, we have oodles of orders to pull…
bye for now!

The O Marled are among very-very favorite socks, in the top five for sure!
But on chilly days, or nights, nothing beats snuggling into a cozy pair of our
Super Marled Dream Stockings (except maybe the Super Dreamy Stockings…)
So, why were we out of these for the past couple of years? The mill we work with was having trouble getting the yarn and we could get lots more over the knees out of the supply than we could these thigh highed Super version. This year we’re thrilled to be fully stocked on both lengths!

These come all the way to the tops of my thighs and stay up pretty well for around the house. They are super comfy for pulling on first thing in the morning or for a cozy layer under your pants. They are 90% cotton and a heavier knit than the Super & O Dreamy stockings. The Dreamies, being an acrylic blend, have that super soft feel, almost a fluffiness to them, the Marled are very soft also, but it is different…
more substantial.

For my size 8.5 feets I prefer the small size
…though they both fit me, the small is just right and the large is loose. So I found it funny that I ended up keeping the large black cherry pair we used in the images and EG was accidentally sent a small pair for her size 11 feet.

I assured her that my large pair is indeed larger than the one she received
and we are sending her a new pair so she can give you the full run down on how they fit larger feet later this week or next. If only we could have merely switched pairs this morning when I read her email!

My pair is about 42 inches long from heel to rolled cuff.

One final thought before I open the discussion up for the rest of your thoughts….
the ankles can get baggy when they start to ease slowly down your legs. I tried wearing them with a pair of ankle boots so they could hang over the tops like leg warmers or leggings and it looked super cute, the top image shows this minus the boots which I had just removed before taking the picture.
(because I’m silly like that sometimes!)

SPRINKLES!!!!! I Luvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv SPRINKLES!!!
All my life I’ve been a HUGE fan of sprinkles (or “jimmies” as some might say). In my humble opinion, they are must for ice cream (sprinkle to ice cream ratio need be quite high of course.. “a little ice cream with your sprinkles?”(I’ve actually been asked this)). Sprinkles are the perfect topping clinging to the sky high frosting on my favorite Magnolia cupcakes (as our Sock Goddess can attest). They are an amazing treat in pudding, delicious on applesauce, decorative in yogurt, festive on cake, and super special on or in cookies, pancakes, etc… I could go on for days with ways to enjoy them (and yes… I have eaten them plain by the spoonful). So it seems only natural then that when Sock Dreams made a sock with sprinkles on top, that I’d find them super yummy too… And I do!

O Nubbies are a rich creamy vanilla sock with a generous serving of happy little multicolored sprinkles scattered all around (red, green, blue, yellow, and orange nubbly bits lovingly tossed about on an uber cozy sock). They are quite sweet looking, and there is a soothing comfort to wearing them.. I can’t quite figure out what exactly gives them that effect (perhaps its the decadent dessert thoughts that the sprinkle pattern evokes… or maybe its the soft to the touch, thick and cuddly sock itself)… whatever it may be, it’s good…. yummy good!!

Having larger/longer legs and my size 11’s to contend with… of course you know that I’m going to say I wish these could be a bit longer in the feet and in the legs. However… these are certainly still VERY wearable for me! They come up easily over my wide calves, and although they just reach knee high on me, they stay up perfectly there unless I decide to push them down (by the way… they look adorable scrunched around the ankles like slouchies).
I may have to grab a pair of the new Men’s Extra Long Sock Garters. I’m thinking that I’d love to do the sweet yet tough contrast look and mix my O Nubbies up with a pair of dark brown men’s garters and some beat up canvas ankle boots. (talk about too cute!).
And just think…. whereas endulging in an abundance of real sprinkled desserts may not end up looking so good on the legs… these sprinkled treats will look great no matter how many pairs you stuff in your drawers.
So go right ahead… binge on these!!! ;o)
