Technical Socks

Maybe your sock needs are a little more complicated…
you run, hike or take nice long walks with your dog.
We thought long and hard before bringing in a “sport sock”.
Afterall, we’re sock sellers, not athletes, though some of us are more athletic than others I personally am about as non-athletic as a girl can be…
I do take nice long walks and occasionally run with Lola for a few minutes, nothing too challenging or requiring specially designed footwear.

Then the Dahlgrens showed up and even a couch potato would love these!
They have specially patented fiber weaves that wick the moisture away from your feet while being all cushy, comfy and kind of cute all at the same time.
We started with the basics and will be adding more styles by fall when they start restocking the cool stuff like special socks for winter activities, more fun colors and patterns and maybe even an OTK or two!
Yes, they are a little more expensive than some socks, but are a worthy investment if you require, or expect, more in a sock. And because they are a local, family owned business they are happy to work with us to create some really cool stuff. This is just the beginning and we think that if you compare them to the other specialty socks out there you will agree with us, these are keepers!

Oh yeah! Now we’re talking! Showing a little leg :)) Seriously though, moisture wicking socks have saved me many a blister on backpacking trips. And I wear them all summer on my job where I am on my feet all day. Usually they are thin and worn under regular socks. But you found some for more fashion minded people and a local company to boot! Hope they do well.

These are my faaaaavorite sport socks. They are cushy, breathable, soft, and come in lovely colors. The back of the package reads like a science textbook telling you all the amazing things alpaca wool can do, and it’s TRUE!

interesting, i don’t know anything about sport socks…how does this material compare to Coolmax or bamboo? i know both of those fabrics have wicking properties and antibacterial properties as well…the ultra light trail anklets look like they’d be nice for work

While these socks have their place, they aren’t nearly long enough for me. Sorry. I really like knee socks and OTK’s.

Not all socks are for everyone! :)

KiWi, the difference is in construction of the sock. Dahlgren socks have a patented “Dri-StrideTM System”. It is zone constructed to work with the foot, uses specific yarns in specific zones to help control the climate and temperature of the foot. There are “high moisture zones” and “moisture transfer zones” that work together to make sure that the sock doesn’t just absorb sweat and become a squishy mess, but move moisture away from the foot with a system of wicking actions. There is also sort of built in arch support because of the zone construction. Just about each Dahlgren product we stock has a break-down of the cushioning and wicking zones in the Additional Info section.

Coolmax fiber works also to get moisture away from the foot, they “keep feet dry, shifting the moisture from the feet to the outer layers, all the way to the shoes. Coolmax socks also dry four times faster than normal cotton sock. ” (as noted in our Coolmax Sport Toe Socks additional info). Compared to the Dahlgren system, Coolmax is much more simple. That’s why Dahlgrens are “technical socks”. They’re engineered. :)
