Real Men Still Wear Garters

tug of war in sock garters
We received a link to the image above with this message:
Hi, I received the sock garders I purchased, and I’m very impressed with the quality. I knew the US could produce awesome quality products better than China. By the way, I came across this photo and thought you might want to use it in your promos. It’s a photo (Getty images) of the 1908 US Men’s Tug-Of-War Olympic team. It seems that everyone was wearing sock garders in the past. I would promote this photo and tell the world that “real men” used to wear sock garders.

and although we spell it with a “t” I did find this link for sock garders featuring another fun image of a well dressed man.
Of course we here at Sock Dreams know real men still wear sock garters
our own VP Mr Natosi wears them often…
a day at the park
okay, you can’t see them in that shot, but they’re under there!

We have yet more garters in the works…
no word yet on just when we’ll get more elastic for our beloved button hole garters (we could get another version, but I just don’t like it as well as the one I can’t get, I do ask often and am always told so,mething to the effect of just a little longer…)
and, one of our in house Dreamers came up with a brilliant idea that I can hardly wait to share, no, not even a peep about it you’ll get from me, you know what they say about loose lips! other stuff too, so stay tuned and remember…
Sock Dreams loves you!

I love this post!! And of course, Bsti and Lola, you both look fabulously handsome. =) An adorable picture, indeed.

P.S. Saw the pics of the bomber jacket: looks great! Speaking generally, it’s wonderful to see a man freely (and fearlessly) express himself in his own style. Now *that* makes for a real man. ;D

My lovely mister has always been QUITE the sock garter enthusiast, so I can’t wait to get him a couple good SD pairs for his birthday (they’re nigh impossible to find elsewhere, even high-end menswear stores)!

This has little to nothing to do with socks, but…

Some writers, one of whom is a friend of mine, are doing a book tour. One of the stops is Powell’s Books, which may be the one Niqkita works/worked at. I thought some of you may be interested.

re: nigh impossible to find… tell me about it! we had a heck of a time finding a source for them and were over the moon about finding a US maker!
I love that my Mr dresses so nicely and seeing other peoples reactions is priceless, the older folks especially seem to enjoy seeing a properly dressed gentleman in public.

Awesome picture–it’s timeless too. He could step back into the 20s and 30s and be right at home!

Thank you! I love that one, though he said “you picked one with a goofy face”

  7. Cheryl Says:

“Goofy”? No, he looks *playful* with Lola. It’s very sweet and cute–and it looks genuine, not posed. :)

I don’t know if it has to do with real men, but I don’t see the need for sock garters. As long as my socks don’t slip into my shoes, then it doesn’t matter if they slip down. And I tend to wear shoes that they can’t slip into. Maybe its good for anchormen and business men when everything needs to look perfect. And women, I think it looks very sexy when your socks slip down and you flash a bit of leg just below the pants. If you think the garters themselves look sexy, thats great. Other people might also. But please…for all the women out there….please dont worry about your sox falling down!

  9. Bsti Says:

I use them when I wear boots or if it’s cold outside and want warmer legs.
