Lola Loves Pumpkin
Before I serve up another huge helping of socks
I’m going to kill you with a little cuteness…
Lola & Pumpkin, Sock Dreams cutest girls
Lola & Pumpkin are the cutest girls at Sock Dreams and the bestest of friends.
The days they work together are some of the most fun for the rest of us as they are endlessly playful and provide constant entertainment. As you can imagine, Lola is not as happy about staying home this week as we are…
Lola\'s other best buddy Baxter
she misses the rest of our pack, especially Pumpkin and Baxter…
Snoozing away at home
Sometimes I am certain she is dreaming about playing with them.

Happy Everything!

Bread Pudding alla Niqkita
Regardless of what you celebrate and which days you celebrate it we hope you are warm and cozy with your favorite socks and people and critters.
All of our employees will be off December 25th.
…returning, weather permitting, Friday morning.
My little gift to you all is my favorite bread pudding recipe, from one of my favorite cookbooks acquired during my years at Powell’s Cookbook Store on Hawthorne. I make two versions because some love raisins and coconut and some prefer neither but love chocolate. Everyone seems to like it…
Old Fashioned Baking
Bread Pudding recipe
I use whatever bread is handy, a loaf of French from the bakery at QFC this time, I tear it into chunks rather than slice it and pour the melted butter over the chunks tossing to coat them instead of brushing one side as the recipe calls for, this way there is no buttered side up or buttery brush to clean. I usually prep it the night before and leave it in the fridge covered overnight ready to stick in the oven while the coffee brews in the morning. Enjoy!!!!!!!!
…and, if you don’t have one of these, I highly recommend you get one:
Fresh homemade whipped cream the easy way
Homemade whipped cream without the splatters!

Open in the Snow

I’m snuggled up with Lola at home while Mr Natosi snoozes away downstairs…
Another six or so brave Sock Dreamers headed out into the snow to warm up the warehouse and keep our socks flowing out the door. Last minute gifts will be sent, questions answered and yes, even our store will be open today!
If you ski or hike over to shop with us you may need to ring the bell as the shop crew will be helping out in the warehouse as needed.
My undying gratitude goes out to all of you, our dedicated workers and shoppers,
for making Sock Dreams what it is and is becoming…

Snow Update

Lola dressed for the snow
We have so much snow that the only thing we are doing is going in, just a few of us, to get express orders out the door. We’re not even sure when or if we’ll have a postal pick up, but we’ll do what we can. The store won’t be open, at this rate we might not be able to open til Wednesday or Friday.
I know how crazy this sounds to those of you who live, or have lived, where it snows every year (Bsti & I have lived in such places ourselves), but the city of Portland simply is not set up to deal with this much snow since it is rare for snow to stick for more than a day and right now cars outside my house are nearly buried in it. Thankfully we have awesome public transportation here so we’ll be hiking out to catch a bus shortly, more later…

Socks in the Snow

MP cotton lined wool tights covered with Super Dreamy Dream Stockings
It has snowed every day for nearly a week now with more due.
This being our busiest week online I was grateful for everyone braving the elements every day to keep the socks flowing out our door & into your homes.
Saturday was the last big day for shipping, and the forecast calls for freezing rain and ice so I announced first thing Saturday morning that Sunday is a snow day for us, no one will be working in our warehouse and our store will be closed. Yes, this should be a huge weekend for our store, not in the ice though, the roads will not be safe, the news keeps telling us so. Stay home if you were gonna come see us because we’re not there.
Don’t worry, we will be back on Monday, all bundled up and ready to go…
If you need your socks by Wednesday they best be shipped 2 day express, or picked up at our store, we’ll be there til 4 on Wednesday. Well, we won’t actually be there personally, our vacation starts after we get caught up on Monday!!! But we’ll have plenty of Sock Dreamers on hand to get you your socks & other dreamy goodies.
Happy Winter Solstice!!!

The Well Dressed Man

In a pinch for what to get a guy?
We have a great assortment of socks for men
Our top picks for the stylish gentleman:
B.ella luxury socks that survive the washer and dryer…
Marcello Big Striped Men’s Socks
Maniche wool/silk blend Tweed Bootsocks
Aurelio Colorblock men’s socks
and of course, our very own B Chevron, lightweight and made of recycled fibers.
All four of these styles are made in the USA
and have survived being washed & dried by real men.
Add some stylish sock garters in either a classic style or our very own suspender style which is infinitely easier to attach to his socks (or your socks) and stay attached.
We have both, with and without stripes, and even offer a vegan friendly version.

Now that you have his feet covered, throw in a pair of warmers for his hands.
Most of them will fit most men. Our personal favorites are the
Polonova velvet wrist warmers, they really complete a very nice look.
We’ll be coming in and shipping all orders out as fast as we can
right up until the last minute, regardless of the weather…
Happy Holiday shopping!!!

Tis the Season

Yes fellow sock lovers, it is that time again…
the crazy holiday season is upon us, we arrive early for work, stay late and work extra hard the entire time. We run out of stuff faster than our suppliers can help us restock and all the while we have happy feet and warm toes because we are warming the feet of the world one sock at a time.
Due to a US Postal Services technological issue we have had some trouble with international orders not being able to complete and getting messages about us not shipping internationally and it has slowed down our shipping departments ability to print postage efficiently. But they are on it and working hard to get every order out the door every day, and I have to say, in our 8+ years of shipping packages of socks out for the holidays, this year is going as smoothly as any in recent years. Why? Because our shipping team rules and they are all working their hardest to get everyone’s socks out accurately and on time.
I’ll be updating this page with more pictures and stories as soon as I catch my breath, but for now, head on over to Socks_Fun to see long time Sock Dreamer Eva’s great review on how to make our Dreamy stripes fit when they don’t want to stretch as much as you want them to…

Cut up your socks!

We here at Sock Dreams have been cutting up socks for years. It’s a great way to add new life to damaged socks and tights and it’s surprising how few things unravel upon being cut, not that we guarantee that most socks won’t unravel but we sure can attest to many that won’t. So when Ozone came out with their Cut-Up Jambière I had to bring them in, if for no other reason to encourage everyone with a creative spark to try this. They even give you guidelines…

Our own talented Flaura has done really cool things with our Lemonade stockings for our little shop here in Portland (I was just sure I had pictures of her creations, but I can’t find them, sorry ’bout that!). She’s done neat stuff with other socks she’s modified too so I let her pick her color and give these a try…

Hand warmers, knee warmers, toe-less anklets and a bracelet, quite cute! she’s wearing them over grey tights and highly recommends cutting along the straight lines, much fraying occurred where cut through the pattern, but no unraveling.
