Introducing Polonova!

Last month a local woman contacted Sock Dreams telling my staff of her lovely wares and asking if we were interested. Bsti intercepted an email with her link and told me I really needed to see them. No, I don’t need to see any more must have socks right now, we already have more coming than I can possibly manage sanely, but curiosity always gets me and sure enough, they’re awesome!

So I wrote her and we met and I ordered and she screen printed, resulting in a lovely assortment arriving as our starter order. Now, as I mentioned, I am swamped (just the way I like it btw, but I am forever overestimating how much I can accomplish in a day) so I decided they’d be store only til we catch up and can get them all properly photographed. But I just know some of you are going to love them!

Here’s the basic information: the knee highs are made in the US, nylon trouser socks, then they are screen printed by hand with the best patterns I have seen, every edge is perfect, no weird gaps or overlaps. The colors are black with silver or gold and red, maroon, brown & olive with black (swirls only on the colors).
The wrist warmers are soft yummy velvet with a mehndi pattern screen printed on in copper (as specially requested by me because it looked awesome and I didn’t want to bother with silver & gold).

So, if you are brave and willing to play a little game with me, I’m going to let you buy them with the catch that you can only suggest a color and we’ll choose the pattern and send them off to you with a wink and a smile.

  2. Amanda Says:

Oh man the red velvet hand things would look sooooooooo nice with my top hat….

  3. Kay Says:

Oh those swirls!!! And the wrist warmers would be sooooo awesome for bellydance. Want want want!!!

  4. Miranda Says:

This is the best idea I’ve seen yet!
*Shuffles wallet around… shakes out loose change*

I am tentative only because I can’t pick what I want for myself and I would want them to coordinate with my Steampunk garb, but I can’t possibly tell you how much I wish you would carry everything of hers!!! They would become the best things on your site in my humble opinion…. and that’s saying something!

  5. Brandy Says:

I’m loving the wrist warmers but I have small hands. I cannot wear bangles because they will fall off. Do you think they will fit me?

If Polonova worked under Diana Vreeland wow. The stories I imagine she could tell.

  6. niqkita Says:

The velvet warmers are large enough to be comfortable on a man’s hands and can be a little loose at the wrist on small arms, they were fine on me though and I am slightly petite according to some.

I do think these are among the most awesome sock-type-things I’ve seen lately and I have an awful lot of awesome things finding their way to my table lately ~=D

  7. Babylon Says:

ooo those velvet wrist warmers in the green colour are so pretty! *drool* too bad I’m broke :P lol ah well, in the future…

  8. Alice Says:

Those patterns. Are. Gorgeous! I’m obsessed with filigree-ish swirls! (How obsessed? I’m planning on getting my back tattoo’d with them. THAT’S how obsessed!)

These knee-highs are an absolute necessity for me…

I had so much fun pulling these orders today, I do hope you all enjoy what you receive!!! We’ve still got some left and I’m tempted to go in Friday morning and help with the morning pull, but may stay home and set up my new Flor carpet tiles instead. Right now I am putting in an order with Leg Avenue while Lola snoozes at my side…

  11. niqkita Says:

BTW, of course I asked about thigh highs, but in her opinion they didn’t work as well, so for now, just knee highs. But she has an awesome array of velvet gloves and I fully intend to offer as many varieties of her offerings as possible, in time…

  12. michelle Says:

Oooh, so pretty! I just couldn’t pass these up. I’m excited to see which sock color and pattern I receive. I put in a *hint* for the brown wrist warmers just because they look so scrumptious on Bsti. ;o) Thanks so much Niqkita!

  13. polonova Says:

    WOW! I’m going viral!!
Great to hear such enthusiastic response. Thanks, everyone.

  14. dan Says:

This is the coolest picture of bsti since the last picture of bsti.

  15. Raine Says:

I really love the look and style of this new design! They look like they were meant for royalty, which I think would be a treat when I’m feeling down; because I’m guessing they’d make me feel just a little more special. I’ll wait until I can choose more exactly, but I think Sock Dreams should definitely offer more of these beautiful and unique socks, warmers, gloves, and more…Thanks for making them Polonova!

  16. Amy Says:

These are so fabulous! I’m going to have to have one of each!!!!!

  17. vampkat Says:

  19. Tsukara (Anne) Says:

Just went and nabbed a pair of the wrist warmers in store and they are, in a words, amazing. They’ll be stuck on my hands all winter, if I have anything to say it!

And the knee-highs are gorgeous, and so perfect.

  20. Rachel Says:

These look so beautiful! The knee-highs look like they’ll go perfect with all kinds of cute shoes, with the pattern going down the foot like that. Unfortunately I’m a little too broke right now to get a grab-bag style, since I’m bound to want another if I don’t pick specifically, but once they’re available to choose from, I will definitely be buying a pair!

  21. niqkita Says:

    Sweet!!!
The response to these has been tremendous
and we already have more being made.
I definitely plan on adding more of the velvet glove lengths.

Thanks to all for all the feedback and orders!!!!!!!

  23. niqkita Says:

Raubynn… I didn’t see your note of preferences here in the journal til after I pulled your order. Imagine my horror when I later read that with a choice of 5 I didn’t even pick one in your top 3, but I remembered all the times before that I’ve picked stuff for you that you didn’t know was going to become your favorite ~;D

  24. raubynn Says:

you know me better than i know myself ~ :)
i am thinking with these i have to start saving cuz every time i look at them i KNOW I MUST HAVE THEM ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. vampkat Says:

I got the red and black swirlies, and while I am still drooling over the dragons, I do love these. I can’t wait til they are actually put up!

One thing I would like to comment on is that that are a bit loose around the wrist. I am 5′7″ with a medium frame. I will uplaod pictures soon so everyone can marvel at the wonder of these nummies.

  29. Gingko Says:

  30. Gingko Says:

[...] Last September I introduced the Polonova socks and wrist warmers… Despite only offering a random selection of the knee highs … requiring you, our dedicated sock lovers, to trust us… to pick a pattern and color you were going to love… they’ve been a huge hit! Now that things have settled down a little here and I have caught up with my endless backlog of images to shoot and edit we have a few styles set and ready to go with more coming! So far we have the Klimt spirals, vines and floral lace up (I’ll be getting better images of the lace done this weekend). We’ll also be adding dragons, square spirals, mehndi patterns (like the velvet wrist warmers), more colors and silk screened velvet gloves with full fingers! [...]

So beautiful!! But I want thigh highs…

  37. niqkita Says:

of course you do! I knew we’d be asked so I checked with her in advance. Sadly she says her designs are to intricate to do all the way up, we’d end up with gaps and overlaps. But we will have more and more cool thigh highs before you know it!
