Remembering Miss Rebeckah

Years ago, when I still did all the sock-related work myself, and often checked and replied to sock related emails at all times of the day and night, I became friends with several of my best customers. Some I knew only by their email names in the beginning. Becky Jones always wrote me as Millionairess Rebeckah, sharing her opinions, reviews and pictures, in time I invited her to be an official sock girl and she became known here as Miss Rebeckah. I don’t think she ever revealed to me what her health condition was, but did occasionally indicate that it was a hard battle for her as her frailty became apparent in her images. I actually asked her to leave the image above out of a review she did for the chenille warmers earlier this year, but tonight I feel it should be shared… earlier today I got an email from her brother telling me she passed away on August 28 due to complications with Sarcoidosis.
She left instructions for him to tell me and wanted me to share the news with those of you who knew Becky online. Bsti has also posted on LiveJournal’s Socks are Fun.
Miss Rebeckah did 23 reviews here during the last two and a half years.
here are a few of my fav’s…

Right on their heels…
Stop!…
Her last post here was published this past May.
We’ll miss you Miss Rebeckah, may your toes always be warm, wherever you are.

Thank you for sharing this information with us Niqkita. I loved seeing Miss Rebeckah’s unique photos. She will be missed and my thoughts are with her family.

  2. Eva Says:

I am so sad. She was such a sweet person; both in the sock community and on her personal lj, where we had some contact. I noticed her not being active there anymore, but people’s interests change so I didn’t think anything was wrong. Despite what I knew about her illness.
This is really, really sad news – she was special, and a talented artist.

  3. Babylon Says:

Though I knew she was not well, this is still such a shock. You will be ever missed Miss Rebeckah.

  4. Kitsy Says:

I’ll post here, what I did over at the live journal, because I still can’t quite wrap my brain around it enough to say anything else:

“She was always such a dear, sweet person to me in our brief internet passings that this is hitting me a lot harder than I ever thought it could.

I think that Bsti said it best (in the LJ post) and I suppose I’ll third the statement:

‘May her legs and feet always be warm and comfortable, and may she ever remain a Dreamer.’

My condolences to her family and true friends and acquaintances, if this news is hitting me this hard, I can only imagine what you all must be feeling.”

  5. Elizabeth Says:

Oh how sad! I was just planning to try a tip from her that I found through a search on the Socks Fun archives!

Warm wishes for comfort to her family and friends…

  7. Sena Says:

OMG! This is such sad news. I’m in shock too… Thanks for letting us know Niq.
She and I became pen pals last Spring. I bought one of her H’arts; she sent me socks… I had meant to email her after a few months of silence due to busy work schedule. And now it’s too late… Goodbye Becky . You will be missed by us all. =*(

  8. shelleopard Says:

:( So sad…Goodbye, Miss Rebeckah… I hope wherever you are is soft and lovely.

  9. niqkita Says:

    Thank goodness you’re safe Shelleopard…
we were worried about you watching those storms hitting your area and knowing you were without power for so long!

    It’s been a weird past few weeks…

  10. EG Says:

I stopped by here yesterday, read this and was unable to comment.. left in a state of confusion and disbelief. I’d heard Rebeckah was dealing with some health issues, but she always seemed so strong to me… a personality so much bigger than those tiny little size 6 feet of hers (and you know I envied the heck out of those cute little feets). This just doesn’t seem real.

    Sad… very very sad.

    Peace to you Rebeckah…

  11. Jennifer Says:

Oh my gosh!! I totally was not expecting this news when I checked the Sock Journal today. How sad–I’m so sorry to hear this news. I didn’t know her personally–only from her post here and on the live journal. They were some of my favorites–and I always loved her comments and those from others about her little feet–I could relate because I wear the same size. To all her friends and family who may read this–please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. Godspeed!

  12. niqkita Says:

I am so sorry to have had to post such sad news
and so soon since the last sock-related passing too.
I hope not to post anything sad for a very long time forward…

Tomorrow I have a really neat surprise to show you,
but bear with me if I delay, we’re moving, painting and dealing with health issues within my family as well which makes getting dozens of new sock goodies tested, shot and added is a rarer treat for me than I like.
…we’re getting it done, slowly but surely.

It’s so nice to see you all by the way, quite a few of you who’ve commented so far are the very same folks who started writing and buying from me back when it was just me in one room with a lot of socks and one little computer plus a little point & shoot digi-cam and a huge dream ~=)

  13. Brandy Says:

Miss Rebeckah’s passing has touched me in a way that I did not expect. I never talked to her but I thought she was a really cool person. I extend good karma into the universe to Miss Rebeckah and her family and friends. I will always think of her when I put on my O Yummies.

  14. vampkat Says:

It’s so hard to lose people we love. I hope she’s happy where ever she is, and her passing isn’t too hard on her loved ones. :(

  15. T-Rex Says:

So very sad. I liked her artwork, and thought I would have plenty of time to get to know her.

  16. Gary Jones Says:

Hello everyone. I am Becky’s younger brother. Thank you for the warm wishes and wonderful things you said. It is touching so many people cared. She loved doing the sock reviews, and recently had also been doing movie reviews of public domain films (http://pdmoviereview.blogspot.com/) More of her irreverent humor. She always tried to stay active in something. She was a dear, sweet person, and her family misses her. We have all of her artwork, and if somebody might like one of her H’arts, please e-mail me at grj1996@yahoo.com. Thank you everybody.

  17. Tina Says:

Oh Niq, so young she was – a loss of a person who left a beauty mark on planet earth- in an ethereal way. I am going to honor her in my walk on October 19th. Tina

  18. brenhan Says:

    R.I.P.

  19. Shannon Says:

Oh wow… I haven’t had the chance to stop by here in at least a year or so and I am so sad to here this. I remember Rebeckah from the Sock Thoughts when I first started coming here .
