Pretty Pleasing with Sprinkles on Top…
O Nubbies are a rich creamy vanilla sock with a generous serving of happy little multicolored sprinkles scattered all around (red, green, blue, yellow, and orange nubbly bits lovingly tossed about on an uber cozy sock). They are quite sweet looking, and there is a soothing comfort to wearing them.. I can’t quite figure out what exactly gives them that effect (perhaps its the decadent dessert thoughts that the sprinkle pattern evokes… or maybe its the soft to the touch, thick and cuddly sock itself)… whatever it may be, it’s good…. yummy good!!
Having larger/longer legs and my size 11’s to contend with… of course you know that I’m going to say I wish these could be a bit longer in the feet and in the legs. However… these are certainly still VERY wearable for me! They come up easily over my wide calves, and although they just reach knee high on me, they stay up perfectly there unless I decide to push them down (by the way… they look adorable scrunched around the ankles like slouchies).
I may have to grab a pair of the new Men’s Extra Long Sock Garters. I’m thinking that I’d love to do the sweet yet tough contrast look and mix my O Nubbies up with a pair of dark brown men’s garters and some beat up canvas ankle boots. (talk about too cute!).
And just think…. whereas endulging in an abundance of real sprinkled desserts may not end up looking so good on the legs… these sprinkled treats will look great no matter how many pairs you stuff in your drawers.

Hi everybody!!!
It’s been such a long time since I’ve posted… I’ve missed being here very much. I’m so glad to have chance to post today, and will hopefully be able to be a bit more regular about it again now. And just look at these cuter than cute sockies I get to post about today!
The past few months have flown by like a hurricane of whirling confusion for me. We all eventually go through a least a few boughts of rough times in our lives where our days become so filled with things that must be done, and those days start to run into weeks, then the weeks compound into months as we frantically try to accomplish the daunting tasks that life has dished out… and then, suddenly, one day we seem to wake… and we are faced with someone in the mirror who is vaguely familiar yet so far from who we are. This is when it’s time to reacquaint ourselves with who we really are. Me.. meet “me”.. tee hee.
A “me moment” for me, often involves the wearing of favorite socks. As a matter of fact, during the seemingly endless past months, I greatly relied on the fun familiarity of my favorite (often most flamboyant) pairs to try to keep a constant reminder of the personality that had to take a backseat to life’s rocky road. No matter what I had to prepare for each day… I reached into my sock drawer and pulled out Superstripes, Lovlies, Mstripes, Pippys…. remembering the “fun me” was still here and all I had to do was look down to catch a glimpse of her.
I’m so grateful and proud to have become a part of such a wonderful group of expressive and strong individuals… and so happy to be back “home”. Biggest Hugs!!!
PS.. OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!! SUPERMARLED ARE BACK!!!! (singing)… “ohhhh sweet mystery of life at last I’ve found you” tee hee

August 3rd, 2008 at 10:26 pm
Great post! I, too, have been going through those sorts of times, EG. I think it was like that for a lot of people this past year or two. Much love, and are you gonna be rocking those nubbies with the boots I sent you? :)
(also v. excited about supermarleds, Wooo!)
August 4th, 2008 at 4:23 am
They remind me of cupcakes when you put the sprinkles in the batter and bake them cuz that’s just what the specks look like when they’re cooked.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:11 am
Thank you Niq for finding the kitty that made me actually laugh out loud (and for bringing back the super marled of course),
Raubynn for your kind words (I love the oozing part!),
Rebeckah for your big hugs,
Jamie-Lynn for the sprinkly thing I forgot to list (I love those confetti cakes),
and shelleopard for the very boots I was thinking of ;o)
August 4th, 2008 at 6:13 pm
Do my eyes deceive me?? The super marleds now come in a Large size???!!! Is my brain playing tricks on me… cause I thought they used to be just one size (and I’d wished them larger). I took out two pairs of my old Super Marled and yes, the feets are little. Ohhhh could it be that these new ones will be feet fantastic too? I mean they rocked in every other way before for my larger legs… but if the feet fit my 11’s now I may just pass out from the joy of it all. :O)
August 4th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
EG, have you tried the regular O Marleds? The foot sizes, large and small, should be just like those.
August 4th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Yes Amanda… I have a bunch of pairs of the O’marled in large…
I also have pairs of Super Marled from way back when. But my question is whether the two sizes on the Super Marled are a new thing (because my pairs from way back when have little feet and I can’t imagine I’d ordered small if there where both large and small sizes back then).
August 5th, 2008 at 7:54 am
I thought we had them in two sizes, but I could be wrong, many socks have passed by my feet since last we had them…
August 5th, 2008 at 8:51 am
hehehe sprinkle kitty!
mmm I could go for one of those sprinkle encrusted donuts right about now…
August 5th, 2008 at 10:00 am
Oh, man, I just found the cat-on-glass; I’d scrolled past it too quickly when I first looked! :D How hard is it going to be to see our cats as dignified-looking when they sit like that now?!? :D
August 5th, 2008 at 11:52 am
It’s also just possible that the sizing has changed since we last had them, since that was years ago. I’m pretty sure the yarn is coming from a different supplier, and that can make a big difference.
So, no idea what size they used to be (they went away back then before I could get myself a pair, sadface), if they were only one, but now they should be just like the O Marled sizes.
August 5th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
could someone compare the super marleds with the super dreamy socks? I wasn’t particularly smitten with the look of the super dreamies, but I tried them after hearing how soft and cozy they are. Sure enough–they are fabulous cold-weather lounging/sleeping socks. Are the marleds as soft and snuggly?
Thanks!
August 5th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
Hi Elizabeth… :o)
I personally find them both uber soft and snuggly… the SuperMarled are a bit more thick and deliciously cushiony, and a tad more consistant in both pattern and thickness, where as the Superdreamies are a bit more flowy, with more slubbie areas and fall into lots of loose souchies if you let them (not to in any way suggest that SuperMarled aren’t great slouch socks too, cause they are).
They are both perfect for some different and lots of the same qualities… if you ask me ;o)
I’m not sure if that helps…
August 5th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Since I’m short-legged, the O Marleds are practically thigh-high on me anyway, and I wear them pretty much nonstop in the winter. Over tights, under jeans, they are wonderful winter snuggly socks. They’re not quite as soft to the touch because they’re cotton and the Dreamies are acrylic, but they get poofier after washing.
August 6th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Thanks, EG and Amanda! I think I understand, and I suppose the only way to know if how I’m going to like them is to try them! (and you know I want to!) I live in cold-weather Wisconsin, so it sounds like they’re very worth trying.
I really like the softness and the super-cozy feeling I get from the S. dreamies, but I don’t particularly like the slouchy-ness. (In the winter I sleep in them and I just can’t wait to get into them at bedtime!)
So the S. marleds are not as super-soft, but they are cushiony and warm. Maybe less of a sleep sock and more of a wear out into the cold sock?
Thanks, y’all!
August 7th, 2008 at 11:55 am
Oh yeah, one more question about the super marleds–I wear a women’s 7 shoe size. Will they too horribly big on me?
August 7th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Elizabeth… I am watching the mailman for my first pair of this new batch of SuperMarleds right now… And because the SuperMarleds were practically perfect in every other way, the foot sizing in these new ones is the one thing I am most anxious to explore (as my old ones where always a bit too small for my size 11’s and my never ending search for some toe wiggle room). I’m not sure my upcoming review will help with sizing for your cute little size 7’s much… but I’m sure Niq’s will ;o) Also, you may want to take into consideration that the Super Marled and O’Marled will shrink if washed/dried with heat as they are mostly cotton (I LOVE COTTON!!!).
August 7th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Welcome Back EG! I love your reviews the most.
If the super marled are knitted the same as the O Basics then the size 7 should be fine. I have the O Basic, O Yummies, and the O Dreamies. They all appear to be knitted with the same gauge and all fit my size 7 feet perfectly. I would wear my “O” socks with ballet flats.
If the marled yarn is the same as the O Marled then you will not be disappointed. They will be nice and cozy. The O Marled yarn is fluffier.
For me though as far as sleeping goes. My O Marled can’t be beat. They feel roomier than my “O” socks. However, the foot on the O Marled is kinda big even after washing/drying. They are perfect in my Dansko Mary Janes. I would not wear them with a ballet flat though. As I am an O Marled girl I do not plan to get the Super Marled.
Which brings me to a question of my own. Is Black Cherry the only new color?
August 7th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
awwwww … Thank you Brandy :O)
Vel and I are sending you big hugs!
August 7th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Elizabeth, I’m a size 7 as well, and the Super Marled fit my feet just fine. And they’re cotton, so anyone with smaller feet can just shrink them.
August 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
OK, this is off topic but…
I am in complete and utter amazement. I had meant to type this on monday, but time got away from me.
I ordered a pair of socks late night last saturday. Since there is no post on sundays, I figured that with all the super awesomeness of sock dreams they would arrive sometime after wed the following week.
Somehow, my socks managed to get to me MONDAY MORNING. I have NO idea how this is possible. I am all the way out in massachusettes. Completely the opposite side of the country.
Sock Dreams - you amaze me. ;)
I now return you to your sprinkle-y topic. lol.

sooooooo…i finally tried on my fawn supermarleds and after reading the sizing on them, i went for the small size. i wear a size 10 shoe but prefer a fitted sock so i gave it a try….and they fit perfectly! like the fit that is exact…not a pinch too loose or too tight. exactly fitted from the toe to the heel.
and i am partial to the fawn color. and i think these are so super duper soft! (i love cotton tooooo!)
PS…those harajuka ethnosocks really rock! they are super sexy, suuuuuper looong, and super stretchy and fit great. they are just so beautiful!!!!!
August 9th, 2008 at 11:20 am
I’ve been eyeing those ethnosocks in black… so happy to hear you love them Raubynn, and super thrilled to hear that they are looong.
Those are definitely on my wish list.

As I remember it, the marled 40s were only one size and didn’t sell well enough to go 2 sizes? But the O’Marleds were very popular and went to 2 sizes. I looked back over all my sock print outs that come with the orders, (yes I keep them) and indeed, the Marled 40s that I bought in 2-2005 had no size listed, and the O’marleds I bought 10-2006 did. Sock obsessed? ME!?? ~whistles distractedly~
& Niq I remember you telling me you were discontinuing the marled 40s because they didn’t sell well enough. I never understood that, they are sooooo awesome! & Now these! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
August 13th, 2008 at 1:48 am
the marled 40s were bad ass werent they! luckily i got me a pair.
sigh…wish i coulda stocked up.

*MEEP!* Cupcakes in sock form! It’s almost cruel-I can’t stop staring at them!
