Up in the Air

I shot this as they were tightening the edges…
As soon as the big truck arrived we were all up by the windows watching, except it was also time to pull orders so we had to go do that, then ran back as fast as we could, we were all so excited! I took a few quick shots, then Brigid suggested we have a photo contest for the person who submits the best shot of our billboard. I think this is an awesome idea, but we’ve yet to decide what the prize would be…
so, if you’re here in the Portland area and have a camera, come on over and take a picture & email it to us. All entries must be received by March 30…
we’ll announce the winner April 1st.
We’re sure to think up a great prize between now and then.
So, when does the store in the building below the sign open up for business?
Also April 1st. Even if we’re not fully ready by then, we’ll sure let you in so you can shop and give us your money. Of course, it is not going to have everything the site does, but will still have an awesome selection and will often include items that are not available on the site. I’m really excited to have a “test market” for some stuff and to be able to meet more of our customers (not that I will personally be working in the store everyday, but I will be there some of the time). More about all of this later this month, we won’t have a grand opening til we are confident everything is working as planned, but I’ll definitely be letting you know here as soon as we are open!
And about this elusive new site I mention every so often…
it is always just out of reach, currently looks like we should be testing around late May and might have it live in June. That’s the first phase of this which is mostly just getting the current site into the new design with awesome features to start being added right away when that is complete. So, that’s all I know for now…

Wow! Extremely cool!! I love the sign, the Art Nouveau, the concept. You’ve done well for yourself. You should be bustin’ buttons right about now. :-) I can only expect better things in the future!

Congratulations! Very exciting indeed! I love the illustration for your logo, but most of all… I LOVE THAT SCREEN! In the second photo, black with gold… dear god where did you get that!

Wow you folks have my attention now! Love the logo, wish I could be there for opening day with you all. But since I can’t be there in person you can bet I will be ordering a few treats for myself on line.

At first I thought “I wish I lived close enough to shop there!” but now the thought of working there taunts me as well. I would so be your weekend sock seller if I could!
Hehe, actually I do have sock experience. Gold Toe, in fact. And seven years of retail management. And you could pay me in socks!

Have you considered having a computer in-shop where customers can go on the site and see what else u have to offer and possibly order it for pick-up later if not just to send it to their house like everyone else??
I wish I could make it out there to see it! Maybe if I end up with a lot of money in my settlement from the accident I’ll be planning some trips to a few places if I can.
Is April Fool’s Day the best choice for an opening though??

we’ve thought about a computer, but it won’t be in there at first. and of course we’ll still allow for pick ups of styles from the site, we’ve usually got several bags on the pick up counter (more of a steam trunk actually).

OH MY! I’m so excited! I’ll be visiting Portland March 22-April 1. My flight doesn’t leave until 11 pm, so I’ll be able to visit the new store. So excited here. Can’t wait to meet everyone as well as shop in the new store. Yipeeee, see ya’ll then!
