Tabbisocks!
I’m betting you’ve noticed the exciting new Tabbisocks stuff we just got in!
No, Morty, I didn’t say tabby socks. These are not for you! Yes, you’re very cute, I’ll pet you later.
When we got these in, I quickly volunteered for the job of photographing and testing them. Piano socks! I’d always been sad that we knee-high lovin’, small-footed ladies had no equivalent to the Men’s Making Music Midcalves, but now the wait is over. These are absolutely adorable. If you have a song in your heart, why not on your legs as well? These will stay up for a million years and never fall down, even if you’re the one dancing rather than playing.
But I won’t lie. These were not my favorites of our recent batch of Tabbisocks. It’s time I admitted it; I’m not just a sock lover. In fact, my love for socks is nearly equalled by my love of…
ARMWARMERS! Oh, how I love them! You simply cannot imagine the wonderfully delicate texture of the Steampunk Armwarmers, or the rich jewel tones of the Harajuku Ribbed Armwarmers. And as you can see, they layer together for even more amazing style and fun. I’m reasonably certain that any combination of these ruffles and ribs will look absolutely stunning. Of course, you don’t have to take my word for that! You are quite welcome to buy every single color of each and test all the possible combinations. (This is, in fact, my plan.)
Even little Morty liked my new armwarmers, or at the least deigned to accept petting while I wore them.

Greetings,
A friend of mine turns her old stripey socks into what she calls Victorian hand-spats, which I think is a much niftier term than “armwarmers”. I’m sure you are more than welcome to adopt that terminology, if you happen to fancy it.
With Kelly green socks on,

Oooh, they look so nice layered like that!!! Well done Amanda!!!
Tyson, yes, spats is an excellent term that we’re definitely familiar with and just may be applying to an item (or several) in the future as I just know there will be many more lovely Neo-Victorian items to come…
Brenna has been asking for genuine spats for months now.

kitty butt! nothing cuter then kitty booty except maybe kitty toes…..

Morty’s toes are especially cute because they’re all black except for one pink one on his back foot. :D

First of all, a bit resounding “Aaaaaaw!” for Morty.
Secondly, you lovely, lovely people really need to quit taunting me with your gorgeous arm warmers and socks (the new knit toe socks have me drooling) when I haves no money for the sock love!
Seriously though, despite my complaints…my goodness the new warmers are delicious! Much drooling all around.

i just ordered my first pair of tabbisocks last night. YAY! now my feet can stay warm and i can still pick up things with my toes!
January 23rd, 2008 at 2:16 pm
hrm. i thought i had responded, but it’s not showing up yet. i had actually come back to edit it, having realized my mistake in referring to my order of tabisocks, not the label tabbisocks. buh! but since that comment isn’t currently showing, perhaps i am just making a fool of myself.

no worries, you were on moderated status but I have approved you so you are good to go now ~:)

what a great review Amanda! I like how they look together, very feminine. & Morty is awesome. He reminds me of our old cat “Paw”. Tabbi cats have the best personalities.
& FYI: the term “spats” refers to the cloth covering worn over the tops of boots that hook underneath the heel. Scotts still wear them today. Fred Astaire always wore them. You can do a google image search to see what they are. They’re quite different than leg or arm warmers. Of course you can call them whatever you like, it’ll just confuse or amuse those who know what a spat is.

yeah, it’s the boot covering ones that Brenna has been requesting, but I think adding the word arm to it should alleviate the confusion if we were to apply it to an arm warming item ~:)

Cute kitty! Looks just like my Mew Mew except for the white on the feet!
And I love the striped socks/tights in the third picture. The ribbed armwarmers look really cute, I just never tend to wear them when I end up buying some.

Also “handspats” is just fun to say. Try it. Handspats handspats handspats.
January 23rd, 2008 at 5:29 pm
anything with spat just cracks me up when I say it
January 23rd, 2008 at 5:55 pm
Do you spat when you talk?
January 24th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
it’s a very cute word and very clever when you know what a spat is. I love intellectually clever things like that. & I only spat when I walk. lol.

i emailed a bunch of my friends and family to tell them about this site, and lo and behold my friend tom sends me a gift card. of course now i’m having an indecisive moment and i’m not quite sure which socks and/or armwarmers i want to get first.
handspats. awesome word. i’m not sure my tongue can say it 3 times fast though.

not really relevant but i loved the idea of those double ended garter clips! but when i got them i discovered they were too short to really do anything with…i wanted garters for my socks that went just above the knee, but not quite long enough to reach most garter belts, so i modified the hooks and came up with this:

Nice! yes, I was hoping they’d be adjustable myself, so we’re getting some clips that are not attached to anything ready to sell and should have em up early next week ~:)
January 25th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Hmm, which striped socks would Amanda be wearing in the armspat photo? ;)
January 27th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
Those are tights, actually. Simone’s Wide-Striped Tights in light greens. I just got them and I looooooove them.
January 29th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
good to know that the clips will be sold separately! they are MUCH more convenient and easier to use than the traditional garter clips, i think i want to switch out all the fasteners on my garter belts to these.

I have just located this site. I think I might be in heaven. Is sock-hell when you lose one in the wash?
January 31st, 2008 at 7:59 pm
we’ve been short handed this week due to two vacations, an ilness and misc other delays. But it should happen in the next week. Plus, industrial garters coming this weekend!!!
