More Sock Love

The choreographer/director of the dance video in the last post sent me this still image this weekend. I love that they are all wearing our striped Dream Stockings!
I don’t get a chance to post every worthy picture people send us.
…but some are just so charming I can’t resist.
Now, to start our week…
two nice letters I found in feedback this morning:
Message:
I just received a variety of your socks/thigh highs from my hubby. I love the socks & your site and have added you to my bookmarks. I sense an addiction brewing ;)
Sincerely,
Rachel
Message:
Just found your site… where have I been. Thank goodness there are others who share my passion for socks. My faves are stripy ones – there used to be a store here in my town called Socks Appeal, but they have long since closed down, so I was left to scour the shelves during Halloween mostly to try to find some comforting socks… I had almost given up hope. Thank you again – soon to be a very loyal customer! :)

and an odd one…
where can I get info on mens floppy socks
thank you
Brian
Can anyone tell me what “men’s floppy socks” are exactly?
11/28/07 update, loose socks was what he sought.

This is the first thing that comes up in Google for “mens floppy socks”
http://floppysockdance.blogspot.com/2007/03/cars.html
Another thing that comes up is a picture of a basketball player with socks slouched down to his ankles… so maybe they mean baggy, slouchy men’s socks?

Yeah, I googled it, it’s the first thing I usually do when in doubt, just didn’t find anything that seemed conclusive.
Hoped maybe some of our sock fans had actual knowledge of the subject…

No actually knowledge here, just procrastination from work. ;-)

A guy on socks-fun recently mentioned that he owns over 400 pairs of socks! If he doesn’t know I can’t think of who will. Im going to ask him and report what he says.

what i refer to as “floppy socks” are like my M40/43s that flop off my feet when i am in bed…
so that is completely unhelpful to the discussion but there you have my two cents….

What are the brownish tan socks/tights layered under the green and blue socks (5th person down)?

Hmmmmmm, the livejournal “expert” on men’s socks said he hasn’t heard that expression before. Given that a bunch of us sock lovers are also at a loss, I’m going to conclude the guy made up the phrase. We can’t know what he reeeally meant unless Niq or one of her helpers emails the guy back with a “What do you have in mind?”… although you guys sound soo busy and this is hardly a central issue… If anyone decides to do so though, please let us know what he said back. We must build our sock lexicon.
P.S. He does ask where he can ” find info” and not where he can buy some which might suggest that he doesn’t quite know what they are either. May be he heard the expression from someone else. That would be hilarious.
Sorry. Im totally in detective/analytic mode because for two days now I’ve been trying to figure out why this one research finding contradicts this other one and it’s totally made me into a little hunting dog. Yup, Im a nerd… but I go to grad school where we revel in our nerdiness and try to outnerd each other even. =)))))

The first thing taht came to mind were socks that you can wear with flip-flops. Like tabi socks.
…but that’s just me, I have never heard of them before either!

Considering the term “floppy sock” has an entry in UrbanDictionary.com, I’m guessing his question was a farce.
November 27th, 2007 at 7:22 am
*appalled*

Way to go and check urbandictionary though… That was clever!
I’m still hoping that’s not what he meant…

ew.
November 28th, 2007 at 6:08 am
Turns out he was merely asking about loose socks ~:)

This new perspective has got it.

I was thinking of how cool it would be to have a sock dreams book with select journal entries, pics and select comments. Here’s the working title: “The Best of the Sock Dreams Journal: The Evolution of a Community”. That would be totally cool I would buy it cuz I really like the journal and look forward to it.
November 29th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
or is it a new begining?
November 29th, 2007 at 4:06 pm
& may I just say THANK YOU for making the selector dot/indicator start over at the top of the list of choices after it gets to the bottom. “tis a little thing that makes my shopping at S-D easier and more enjoyable & I just wanted y’all to know I noticed & I appreciate it! THANKS! :)
