Cronert Preview

Arabesque over the knee socks
Simone brought our fall order in the other day…
I have been eagerly testing them out every day since!
I’ve photographed all but two styles (will add those next week) and am editing away tonight/tomorrow til I have them all ready to go. As soon as I do I’ll make them all live, should be by tomorrow afternoon. I already added in the four new argyles.
I went with small amounts of everything for this first order because they are fine Italian made socks and could put a dent in anyone’s sock budget, even mine. After trying nearly all of them I am most excited about the ribbed wool OTKs and will be ordering oodles to keep you all warm in the wee winter months ahead…
Cronert wool over the knee socks
notice how the larger size on the left are indeed longer than the smaller size on their right …and the stretch amazed us! unfortunately it was far too warm to really give those a try, but I saw enough to know you are all going to love them!

Arabesque dreams
btw, do any of you know the name and/or origin of the flower symbol on these?

I think I must buy these new coronets, no matter what the price (I do suppose I’ll think about fit, first, of course).

What flower symbol, though? I don’t see anything other than the curliques.

No matter, I’m just so excited about the advent of the cooler months and much cozier socks!

  3. Kay Says:

Those wool OTKs look so yummy! I can’t wait!

Y’know what would be great? OTK or even thigh-high wool socks with the typical wool sock pattern, y’know gray with white heels and toes and a red stripe on the top? That would be AWESOME!

    Ribbed wool OTKs?
I’m lucky the O woolies are so wonderful, because I probably can’t afford those.

Eva, it’s a good thing you put in an order the day I was photographing those ~;)

…I’ll upload a shot where you can see the flower shape better, I’ve been staring at so many images of these this week that I failed to realize it doesn’t show as clearly in that top shot…

  6. Rebeckah Says:

oooOOOOOO!!!!! YAY for yummy OTKs & THS! I wish I had loads more money to buy all the socks I want so badly!

  7. Brandy Says:

I’m so excited. I need to control my breaths now. Whew. I will have the Cronert “Stylized Flower”. Must control my urges at the moment though. I hope to not wait to long and miss out like I did on the Ozone tights.

  8. Kitsy Says:

I’m in love with the new curly flowers. They’re actually basically just a stylized fluer de lis…just a long stem on them.

  9. Sena Says:

    Ooooh OOOOH!…
The Curly Cronerts are gorgeous!!!!! Unusual yet dressy, THOSE will generate comments and looks alright.
Say, are those as thick and as long as their regular solid OTKs? I’m affraid SoCal can’t support anything thicker…

  10. niqkita Says:

yes, all the cotton styles are pretty much exactly like the solids, but the patterns like to linger closer to just over the knees than actual thigh high-ness.
Okay, all done for now, next week, among other things are two last Cronert items, a stripey polka dotted OTK and some ribbed arm/leg warmers…
    Happy Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! I’m gone for a few days and you get the most wonderful new socks!!! =D

I might be able to come visit at least sometime this Dec., as a friend of mine visits Portland annually during that time, and he demanded I visit him then. But, the new housemates have friends in Portland and seem likely to desire visits with them soon, so…maybe sooner!

  13. niqkita Says:

yes, it does indeed resemble a fleur de lis, but the closest I was able to find that actually looked more like this pattern was from the ancient city of Petra, I was just hoping someone out there knew something more about it…

  14. Brandy Says:

I think yhis pattern was taken from a Dover clip art book, and then simplified. There are a bunch of designs similar to the one above. Mostly from India.

  15. jerri Says:

Late comment, but I think the symbol is a common printer’s ornament/dingbat.

Scroll down or search for “left right white arrow”:

There are a lot of variations on this shape, but that one in particular looks pretty close to the one on the socks.

  16. Alice Says:

Ah! Such a beautiful, beautiful pattern! But those boots in the very last picture…I’ve never seen boots so lovely!
