Manly socks for chilly mornings

We’ve been blessed with beautifully cool mornings here in the pacific northwest. Some mornings & evenings have even been nearly chilly making socks and extra covers ever inviting so we gave a few of our newest men’s socks a test run, or test walk to be more accurate. All three of these have varying amounts of virgin wool, nylon, viscose, cashmere & angora. Virgin wool is wool that has been spun for the first time, as opposed to recycled fibers. Viscose fascinates me because it is what they make rayon and cellophane from and according to Wikipedia Rayon is a very versatile fiber and has the same comfort properties as other natural fibers and can imitate the feel and texture of silk, wool, cotton and linen. The bad thing about rayon is that it isn’t usually machine washable but these are, though gentle handling is recommended. The Giacomo argyles were my favorite to look at…

Since they are “men’s” socks they fit men’s shoe sizes 8-13 so any of you ladies who have trouble with the usual girl sized sock will find a friend in these since that would cover women’s shoe sizes 10-15 with generous ankle/calf room.

These were my sweetie’s favorites…

They were the first pair he picked out when shown the selection and have the loosest tops as you can see they don’t have the the turned welt cuff like the other two, though all will fit muscular calves just fine. Almost itchy before being washed, extra sensitive people beware, they do soften with gentle washings as the fibers fluff up, cotton socks worn under is also a good solution for sensitive feets, I thought they were very comfy for wool socks, I love that about Biella socks!

The shoes are Doc Martin’s we thrifted at Buffalo Gap a couple of years ago. They are in a few sock pix here and, I lovers them. I also love these socks. Perfect for men and women alike, comfortable, warm, functional, stylish. Everything one wants in a sock.

Yay for Bsti pics!! :O)
I too am drawn the the shoes in the 2nd pic.. wow what a color! Shoes in colors like that make me instantly happy for no particular apparent reason. and I’m also sooo happy to see the thick stripe sockies I liked from the table shot being worn!
For me, men’s sockies are excellent to use as slouchie socks in layers for shoes that are otherwise too big (love that look).
Hi cutie Lola girl… Vel and I send hugs! I just wanna give that adorable snout a kiss!

I am really curious what sort of women’s feet size these socks would fit. I *love* the argyle ones, and those last ones, the “colorblock”, are pretty sweet, too.

If it helps, I am a men’s size 9. Unless you have really itty-bitties, I think they would fit nicely. BUT…I’m a guy. Who used to wear the cheapies you get in bulk at department stores. I am spoiled now.
As for knee high socks, I can say this: most knee high styles will fit the average man’s foot. Some others would take some work to get on, but it’s possible.
It really depends on your taste in fabric and feel. I generally don’t wear knee highs unless it’s cold outside. I prefer midcalves, most of them on this page I wear on a daily basis. There are a few knee high styles that I wear slouched.
I would suggest starting the leap with Ozone Mantles,Stars, or B Chevrons ( I love those, they breathe pretty well) or the Ozone Men’s Pilou Midcalves (another great men’s sock).

I would be a men’s size 6, and I don’t mind too much at all if socks are slightly big, so long as they’re not huge. I might just have to give the argyles a try sometime in the near future, they’re fantastic! And I think there were a pair of Ozone mens socks I wanted, I might have to grab a pair of those, too.
