Cool socks, hot days

I feel a little guilty for featuring so many non-sock styles lately when good old American made cotton socks are my true love, even on hot sweaty days. I might be tempted to skip the socks all together in this heat but they do keep my toes dryer, cleaner and more comfortable in general. I have the A Chevrons in nearly every color and often grab for them first only to find they are all in the laundry yet again.
The M Squared are another fav of mine because they are light and comfy and look just as good slouched on hot days as they do pulled up to my knees on cooler days. I was going to rave all about them on the fourth until I discovered we didn’t really have many to sell due to a wonky batch we sold off in the clearance room, we do have a fresh batch coming though so hopefully it won’t be much longer til we’re in stock.

If we seem to be a little low in stock in general it is somewhat intentional, not only is this the absolute slowest time of year for selling socks, we are getting ready to pack up and move next week. I’ll be posting about that as we start making progress and then I’m finally going to let the rest of the sock girls show off their recent photos and reviews while I busily help set up the new location!!!
Of course…
we do still have plenty of good American made cotton choices
in the Dream Stocking room
and will only stop sending socks out for maybe three days when we move
we’ll post that info on the site before those days come…

my all time fav sock is the boy sock…the sizes are nice for larger feet and they look just as lovely & sexy with mary janes as they do with Havaianas/flipflops…and the lime…come on…lime is just perfect always.

I wore my new (got ‘em from Cheryl) green A chevrons (just like in the pic) for a 4th of July canoe outing w/ the family. They were perfect. Mom even complimented them.

I can’t stand wearing socks when it’s hot, and generally I just wear flipflops all summer. Luckily though, I have plenty of cute leggings to wear, so I still feel all fancy. Nonetheless, I’ll be very happy when it’s cool enough to try out all the new socks I’ve gotten lately.

I like the Boy Socks in summer too, and the small fits my size 7s just right.

Oh, I agree with Amanda. Flip flops all the time except for boring white socks for work. It’s far too hot.

I’m glad I’m not the only person wearing socks in the dead heat of summer. I can’t stand having sweaty feet when I wear my (don’t gag everyone) crocs… so I have to throw something in between.
I know.. how tacky, right?
Aside from that, I can’t deal with dirty feet – so I have to wear socks at home inside.. even with spotless floors.

I can’t stand to go without socks! Maybe it’s because I have issues with my feet, that I’m not quite sure I could thoroughly describe, but I really can’t stand sandals, something about the sweatiness and the opportunity for dirt…
But I spend almost all of my time inside a cool basement, and my poor circulation requires warm socks still! And, Michigan is nice, it hasn’t even reached above 85 yet! With moderate, reasonable humidity. Hell, I lounged around in some delectable M43s for the past couple of days! Went for a walk this evening wearing M Stripes. Mmm-hmm. =)

I wear socks most of the time too … except in my khussa- those feel better without socks(when they’re broken in anyway lol… gotta wear socks to break them in)
I’m wearing M40s right now because the A/C has made the house a tad frosty this evening, it’ll be over 90 tomorrow and it needs a head start…
old A/C ;P

Those boots on the new pirate otk socks pictures are wicked!! I’ve been looking for some good combat boots.

Mary:
If you’re looking for some good combat boots, you have two options: (1) awesome looking but cheap and won’t last too long, or (2) awesome looking but expensive and will last. The main difference between the two options is the material used, the more expensive are real leather. The material of the cheaper boots will eventually wear out, and may crack in wear spots, even worse if they will have to endure cold winters.
The most common brand in the cheaper category is Demonia, and they even have some more expensive, real leather boots. Ebay is a good place to start searching, but there are also lots of online stores, for example: Rivithead.com. For the more expensive stuff, try Pennangalan Dreams, they have an amazing selection of leather styles, and whoever makes their boots for them makes them especially for them, as you cannot find exactly those boots anywhere else. (I’ve looked. lol)
Also, just for fun, here’s a list of online stores–some of the links could be out of date–that pretty much either specialize or cater to the goth/industrial/punk/and whatever else scene, or that would be of interest to anyone in those scenes: http://www.darklinks.com/dshops2.html It’s a pretty extensive list, so you’re bound to find whatever you’re looking for if you have the patience!
All right, that’s just me being as resourceful as I can be. =) Enjoy!

Thanks Mary! I’ve had mine for years and hadn’t even worn them in ages, but those socks were begging to hang out in them. And many thanks Cheryl for all the good info!!!

Wow, Cheryl. Those sites look excellent!
I’m going to check them out right away.
I’ll report back if I get anything ; )

Cha! Whee those are expensive. Though they probably will, as you said, last forever. Have you personally purchased anything from them? I’m always nervous about online shopping.

Mary, I have bought from Pennangalan Dreams, and I was really delighted with their product and service. It actually got to me much quicker than I expect since it came from the UK. I’ve had two pairs of boots from them, and my dearest has one pair, and we’ve both been super pleased with them.
I did have a pair of real leather Demonia boots that I *think* I purchased from Rivithead, which is why I thought to link to them, and was again quite pleased. But like I said, since Demonia is the most common brand, there are *lots* of stores all over the internet that sell their stuff, including several Ebay stores. But I’ve certainly had my fair share of Demonia shoes and boots, and have loved them all. =)
One trick I figured out about online stores, just a way to check, is to first send them an email to ask some question, and see how good they are about getting back to you. That can be quite telling.
And, always glad to be of service if I can be, and share whatever I can!
