Lace & bows ~ thighs & toes

…Or, the long & short of the new lace thigh highs, restocked & reviewed.

The picture on the package is gorgeous, it shows a matching top and panty which are not included nor do we plan to get them at this time. Pity, I know, but we don’t want to get into the fit & return issues they would incur and the stockings are just so pretty we had to try them! Straight out of the package they look rather large, but that is because of the lace, it is a stretchy lace sewn into a stocking and came nearly up to the tops of my little 30 inch legs. They fit nicely and stayed up fine, they were just too long for me to wear and still be able to show off their cute ribboned tops so onto the sewing machine they went. Yes, it is a good sturdy lace, won’t snag easily…

and can certainly handle a new seam along the toes.
I think it would be best to do this on a serger, but knowing most of you don’t have one I did a simple zig zag stitch (in pink & purple) and cut off the extra length…

Much better!

When pulled up they appear to fit even in the thinner areas like above my heels, but when I loosened them you can see how there can be a little slack at the knees

Pull them up and they are all better and are sooo pretty I cannot resist them…
As for the fit at the tops, not only can you tighten that ribbon to fit the skinniest of thighs, the stretch actually fit our larger thighs, without a bulge(!!!) and we feel 23 inches around should be no problem with these.

after a few hours of activity here at work, up and down the stairs and such, I decided to add a garter belt , it looks really nice and now I don’t have to adjust them at all as I go about my day. I also think switching out the pretty pink ribbon for a stretchy one would be nice.

I wore them almost all day yesterday and they did get saggy at the ankles even with a garter belt, a sturdier belt would keep them up higher, I was wearing one of the cute ones which kept them from falling but not from sagging after a long day…

its like the stockings were made for these shoes…

    uumm…toe shot toooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. ACVail Says:

    Very cute shoes!!
I have a question about these lovely new thigh highs - instead of stitching the toe area to alter the length, would washing them in hot water/drying them on ‘high’ work just as well?
    Any thoughts?

  15. niqkita Says:

Mmm, yes! or the shoes were made for the stockings. I adore them both.
You know, I’d never really noticed just how pointy my feet are til I was trying to edit the toe photo for public viewing.

    As for shrinkage-ability…
I think they would melt before they shrink, but I could be wrong. They are nylon lace though and don’t seem to me they would shrink a bit…

P.S. Ms Vail, super nice to see you in here! with as many socks as you must have by now you should be a wealth of knowledge & feedback ~:)

  17. Eva Says:

Nylon doesn’t shrink from washing, and as Niq says, heat destroys the fibres.

These are so lovely that just after I wrote my last comment I ordered a pair. Then I wrote about it in my LiveJournal and apparently prompted at least one on my “friends list” to order a pair too :)

  18. Kay Says:

*giggles like a madwoman* My order is officially placed and the lovely lacey leggies will be mine! (Along with a few other select goodies!) I’m way too excited!

Thank you for the warm welcome!
I do have lots and lots of socks now - and couldn’t be happier with all of them! If you have anything I can help you with, please don’t hesitate to contact me - I would love to be of help to such a great group of people!
The email address/phone number from my orders would be fine.
Have a wonderful day and keep up the EXCELLENT work everyone!

Looks like we’ve sold out again!
Don’t worry, more are on their way to us either today or Monday…

  21. Kay Says:

Yay! Mine came in the mail last night! They are so pretty. I do find them baggy around the ankles and knees, even on my average, not skinny, legs.
