Exception to my rule…

cute as kilt socks or for that oldschool schoolgirl look

I’m sure at this point, it’s pretty clear from my posts that I prefer my legwear to go over my knees. But every once in a while, a knee high, ankle sock, or socklet comes along that is just soooooo special or sooooooo wonderful and I have to make exception to my OTK rule, allowing my self to gush in sockie adoration anyway.

The Diamond Rib knee highs are such an exception.

Diamond kneez pleaz!

These are practically a party of terrific surprises! unexpectedly light and breathable… shockingly accommodating to larger calves… and who would have thought they’d be completely longer foot friendly. The dream line has simply outdone itself with this latest super soft, super pretty and versitile addition! And yes, of course I’ll be sock dreaming about wishful possibilities of a nice long (50″) version… but I’ve got to say that I’m pretty darn happy with these even though my knees are exposed :O)

Caution… exposed knees might just get kissed!

I love these sooo much, I have a pair of each. The only reason I have not personally reviewed them is that I am still awaiting info about whether or not we can get more colors later, or more at all really as these were a “hey, look what we got, want them?” from our Dream Stocking mistress Marty. I took every pair she’d send and am encouraging her to get us more, longer maybe even. Not only are these a fab sock for us girls, they work quite nicely for guys too, I can’t imagine a better kilt sock!

Ah, to be resting my feet on that fire escape pointing my camera this way and that, as we chatter about life, socks & where we’ll head off to next …
    not too much longer!!!

  3. EG Says:

Ohhh… I feel a bit silly now for reviewing them, seeing that their future is undetermined… I was just so excited about how great they are…. You had even mentioned there being questions about them (silly me, so focused on getting OTK versions that I thought you meant there were questions about getting longer ones, not that there were questions about them being continued alltogether… I’m such a silly girl when I’m thinking of the ultimate in long socks).

And yes… nyc anxiously awaits this years visit from the sock goddess!! :O)

well then fellow sock lovers… better grab these super special sockies while you can, just in case they have a limited future.

And if you’re really short, like me at 5′, the Diamond Ribs will come just above your knees! I folded a bunch of them today, and they were so soft and nice I just wanted to curl up in the box and take a nap.

  5. niqkita Says:

Not to worry, I am fairly certain we will be able to get more, I just haven’t had confirmation. We still have a decent amount, esp of the tan ~:)
and yes, these come over my knees too, but they sure don’t stay there.

  6. Eva Says:

I thoughtyou would love them too, as soonas I tried them on; since they’re actually loose on my legs, something that doesn’t happen very often.
    And they’re so pretty!

  7. Mary Says:

That youtube video is so cute/funny. Imagine wearing toesocks in the pool! Hah. Made me smile, as do all of your little surprise links EG.

when Eva posted that these were OTK on her on socks_fun I HAD to get them, as I knew they’d be otk for me too! The foot is pretty big on my 6.5s, most feets are big on my feet tho… & I was thinking of doing a review before/after running through the dryer to see how the shrinkage on these goes. (It’ll be about a month till socks get done again though, I just DID laundry! teehee) & I really like the diamond knit pattern on socks, it’s so very special…. like a pattern without a pattern. ;)

  9. EG Says:

    Thanks Mary :O)
I have a lot of fun doing that and it makes me smile too.

Yes Eva… I’m right there with you… so nice to have something that has even more “give” than my ample pins need. What a treat these are!

Rebeckah… I hope you do the laundry soon cause I would love to read that review :O)

and Janey.. there is something wildly tempting about that idea of sleeping in a box of these, I love that. *for those of you that haven’t tried them, you just can’t imagine how soft they are from the pics.. they really are dreamy.

I just got a pair in charcoal and I love them!
I’m 5′7″ with size 9 feet, and before being washed they came well over my knees and had plenty of extra room in the foot.
I’m putting off laundry day, so I don’t know yet how much shrinkage they’ll have, but I love starting off this far ahead of the game!

    Good News!!!
I just got word that not only can we get more of these, we will soon have them in black, natural and red! Not sure if we can get them made any longer, but keep your toes crossed because it just might happen ~:D

  12. Babylon Says:

yay! they’re going to be in colours I want ;P

now off to cross toes for looooong ones :D

  13. EG Says:

    crossing my toes…

    crossing Vel’s toes… tee hee

  14. sushi Says:

Count me in on the looooong ones! I’ve been looking for thigh hi cable knit socks for a long time. I’ll always be a prep at heart :-)

  15. Lisa Says:

I LOVE sockdreams, ever since I found the website on MightyGoods.com a while back. The question/comment I have now isn’t so much about your socks, however, but the shoes you have on in these pictures. They look like Doc Martens, but somehow made even better with the plaid. Where ever did you find these?! They’re gorgeous. :)

  16. EG Says:

    Hi Lisa :O)

They are Anarchic… which is TUK’s economy line.
(This is the pair on my wishlist now… cute huh?. )
I found them on ebay years ago… I am simply unable to resist most plaids. I don’t believe they make this particular style any longer… but keep a search going on ebay with key words anarchic and plaid and hopefully a pair will turn up for you too. By the way if you are a fan of plaid… have you seen the plaid armwarmers?! I’m addicted to them.
