3, 2, 1… LAUNCHED!
The site upgrade is live… go see!
Please give the new shopping cart a test run, even if you don’t actually buy anything today, fill your cart up, come back later, it’ll still be there, in fact, it will now last 24 hours and as long as you check in on it or add something it will keep renewing that 24 hour hold! If we run out of something it will take that item out of your cart, but everything else will still be in there. We weren’t allowed to add in inventories before launching so it will take us a few days to get those all added in and accurate, details, details! Now, if you can afford to buy some socks this week we’d sure appreciate your feedback on how this new system worked for you. Now, get to shopping!

I’ve been eyeing socks all week and this morning, now that I have finally justified buying another pair, my desired sock was out of stock! Oh, well, replaced it with some of the fabulous O-Basics and used the new ordering system without a single hitch. I really, really, really love the images in the cart portion of the new system. That way I don’t have to go back and check on what I’m buying to remember what it looks like. The shipping options are also nicely accessible. Great upgrade to the system!

I just ordered and WOW that was soooo nice and easy!!! YAY!!!! Really lovely work you guys :O)

Oh, I nearly forgot, no, that won’t work for a wishlist as the cookie holding the items in your cart is only on your computer ~:)

Used paypal for the 1st time and it worked excellently! Anything that makes socky goodness easier to buy, I’m all for!

all my parcels were shipped regular air mail so I would guess that’s what yours were shipped as well.

Peronel: I’d send an email to Paypal about it.. They’ve always been really helpful to me. Also, putting your bank account info instead of your credit card might be easier, too. Or you can pay your friend back after she visits :) I hope it works out for you!

We’ll have to add the info about the three international shipping options to our shipping info page, I’ll let Heidi elaborate on what those differences are since she is in charge of international shipping and I have asked our developer Dan to reverse the order they show up in the drop down list, should be less confusing that way. And, yes, our international shipping rates have gone up a mere $2. Some companies choose not to ship internationallly at all due to the increased risk of fraud and loss, but we intend to continue to offer it even if we had to make a few changes to keep it feasible for us.

ok, sorry for multiple posts, this is what i have figured out, i statred with one pair of o basics, and was given a choice, so i added another pair, still choices, added 2 more still choices, and so on. once i hit 8 pair and up, all choices went away and it was 55$ as mentioned before. so for my 8 pair, air mail will be $14, which is a little bit of a raise, as 4 weeks ago, i got 11 pair shipped via air mail for $10.42. But, how do i get 10 pair shipped for less then 55$ is what i want to know!

so i have tried it again, after seeing babylon’s message, this time i got one option again, “global express guarenteed non-document service (us $57) i wonder why that is happening?

So could this new shopping cart be used as a form of a wish list? Being that it stays there if you check on it within 24 hours? Or would that not work…?
November 11th, 2006 at 11:13 am
I just tried out the new shopping cart… it only gave me one shipping option, of 55$ to go to canada. now when i oreded the same amount ( 10 pair) a few weeks ago, ahippinh was 10.42$. did i miss something? bummer, because i was jsut ready to order a whole whack of socks for myself….

Peronel, Have you tried adding your checking account to the paypal account instead of your debit card? It takes from the same place but that would probably get rid of the difference in the security codes thing.
November 11th, 2006 at 9:12 am
Peronel- I was thinking more along the lines of mailing your US friend a personal check, then the only fee would be whatever her bank charged for depositing it.
November 11th, 2006 at 6:27 am
elisa: those different shipping options are for regular air mail letter post, global priority and global express. it’s a matter of how fast you want the usps to get your package to your country.

Peronel: You could also use Western Union (is that’s what its called? if you have one?), money orders, or maybe pay her back when she brings ‘em to ya if you promise to get her a pair, too! I suggest getting a paypal..they’re really safe, easy, and fast. I used to use my credit card or checks on everything, but paypal can tell me if the site I’m ordering from is verified in good business, and they also have a money-back guarentee on most items. :) So if you don’t get it, they’ll return your money!
November 10th, 2006 at 9:14 pm
Peronel- Perhaps you need to send your friend the money via snail mail and then have her put your address in the shipping info? Will orders still ship internationally if the payment is through a US account?
November 10th, 2006 at 10:20 am
will there eventually be a button for the shopping bag on the Sock Journal page? (or is there one now and I’m just missing it?)
November 10th, 2006 at 10:36 am
Worked perfectly, though I didn’t pay with Paypal. Love it, very pretty and it’s so nice to see what you’ve already got in the cart, I’m sure I’m not the only one who has a really hard time deciding what to get each time, I want them all!
November 10th, 2006 at 1:28 pm
I have to pick ONE favorite sock and color???
November 10th, 2006 at 3:06 pm
Good gracious! you all are just ordering so much!!! it has not been a stress free day for us here, but progress always comes at a bit of a price and change, even for the better, is usually a little rough. But we are soooo glad most of you are finding it works well for you! Peronel, if you are not in the US you must pay via paypal regardless of where it is going, we’ll get that figured out so it is evident in the cart too ~:)

I just put in an order for some Christmas gifts, and a little something for me too… ;) Anyway, I really like the new shopping cart. It’s really easy to use and I especially like having pictures and links for each item and a running total! Great work everyone!
November 10th, 2006 at 7:32 am
Also Peronal, what did you select for the country? I need to see if we can recreate your problem because every country other than US shows me only paypal on the next page…
November 10th, 2006 at 7:16 am
peronel: if you have an address that doesn’t quite fit the form just type it into the special instructions box the way that it should be and shipping will use that instead. :D

I ordered! Paid through Paypal to try it out, and everything went smoothly! :) Great job, everyone!!! I know I keep saying it, but I want you all to know that your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed or un-acknowledged. :)

About the gift cards, will we be able to use multiple gift cards on one purchase? Like if two people buy me ten dollar gift cards, can I buy something for twenty dollars using both of them?
November 9th, 2006 at 10:09 pm
I love the new shopping cart system, and the ordering process itself was smooth, and I like being able to pay with pay pal!
November 9th, 2006 at 11:55 pm
I just placed an order, and my only complaint is that instead of letting me log into my Paypal account when I clicked “pay with PayPal,” it made me re-enter all my card information and didn’t seem to be connected to my PayPal account at all (so I couldn’t pay from my bank account and it doesn’t show up now if I log into PayPal). Other than that, it’s awesome!
November 9th, 2006 at 10:03 pm
Since I just got paid today, I placed an order. The ordering process seems smoother, and I like the new confirmation e-mails. Looks pretty good!
