Nope, no new pictures yet, not that we haven’t taken any, I’m just focusing on the many details of our new situation before allowing myself time to edit images. You take so many things for granted until your situation changes, little details like having the time & date on the invoices, not the time you printed the order or the time the customer first started filling their carts, but the actual time and date they completed their order. Everything from the way we enter our orders to track our daily sales in Excel to the way shipping labels are printed and completed orders are filed has changed in some way and who likes change? especially in November… Thankfully so many things have been simplified for us that the time and efforts to figure out and learn new routines so close to the holiday season is not so bad. Everyday we get a bunch more socks inventoried (but only after getting the days orders filled and passed to shipping) so there is still a chance of selling something we don’t have. By next week there should be little to no chance of that which, in itself, will be a huge relief to us. You know how sad you are when you order something only to find out they/we don’t have the item you wanted most? some days we have to call and/or email several people with this bad news, it’s depressing for us because we hate running out and disappointing you, plus it takes alot of time that could be better spent on other sock related tasks (like taking pictures ~;) Do you know why I always use a ~ in my smileys? because I have naturally wavy hair and every since I was little I usually have a loose strand somewhere between my nose and my ear. That silly smiley I do on your invoices with three wild hairs? my first water painting when I was two-ish was eyes, smile and what my mom would later love to relate regarding my hair “coo-ey hai hai” yes, apparently that is what I called it as a wee one and it rhymes with gooey hey hey.
Okay, back to business for a minute. Those invoices, the first batch came out without their description because even though I saw invoices in my testing I kinda overlooked how they only had a part number, color, price & quantity. As soon as I spotted them (after printing nearly a hundred orders) I reported this to developer Dan and within minutes he fixed it and we could see exactly what was on each and every order. Then we started noticing how the colors and descriptions were redundant because the new system took the old system and migrated it in parts that work brilliantly but need rewriting on our end. So we will work on updating those so they make more sense while we get everything else in place. Many orders will not be arriving as quickly as usual between our first couple of days of newness and Saturday being a postal holiday. I’ve really been enjoying picking out your special socks! I have to tell you though, most of you are getting the same thing (in different colors that may or may not have been affected by your fav color) some are getting other styles because we might’ve had something I really thought you’d love based on your all time fav. If we somehow manage to miss your special socks because we’re not used to the new special instructions section let us know when your order arrives, and no cheating, I kept a list of who got what ~;)
Details, details, so many of them right now, but I sure do enjoy seeing such significant progress, I now love my job more than ever and am really excited about the future. Please continue to comment on any issues you are having with the new shopping cart and feel free to praise us shamelessly and generously…
