Nylon and Lace

We got this nice letter at the end of last week & don’t really have the answers to all of the questions, but I bet some of you can share what you think & know on this topic…

Dear Sock Dreams, I just wanted to tell you that I just love your lace nylon bobby socks. I am a person who grew up in the 1970’s and wore these socks as a baby and a young child. I have been just heart broken that over the years, lace nylon bobby socks seem to be increasingly hard to find. I am a person who pays very close attention to fiber content in socks. Any where a person goes lace cotton bobby socks can be found very easily. I cannot stand cotton and lace together! That is like pickles and vanilla ice cream mixed together. That is like wearing tube socks and tennis shoes with a formal prom dress! Bad combination for a person like me who likes total elegance when I dress up. Thank You so very much for carrying such beautiful elegant lace nylon bobby socks. Nylon and lace are like peanut butter and chocolate, a match made in heaven! They are also like cherries and chocolate! They compliment each other’s true elegance! There are a few questions I have for you about these special and beautiful socks that I adore beyond all words in the English language. I have heard they are making a come back. Are these socks being worn with pants, dresses, and skirts? What are they being worn with out in public that really makes them compliment an outfit? What part of the country are these socks being worn in? Are they worn in the east coast or the west coast? What age groups are wearing them? I am in my thirties. Here comes my last questions, these are my most important ones of all, are your lace nylon bobby socks prefolded or precuffed? Are the cuffs on the anklets already sewn together? The biggest happiness for me is to fold and cuff these socks myself! The feel of the nylon and lace are so special. I also like my anklets to really look like anklets and be folded with the lace edge coming at least an inch or an inch and a half above my ankle bone. At least past the ribby neck of the socks! I just wanted to tell you what a great job you all are doing and that I appreciate your site beyond words. Thank you! Sincerely, Carla from Los Lunas, New Mexico.

Oops, I forgot that I saw that one of the Cheetah girls wears lace-trimmed anklets in their show with Mary Jane pumps and a cute mini. She looks super cute.

I’m 15 and go to a prep school in the Washington, DC suburbs. I wear thin anklets like those to school, except without lace, as our uniform rules don’t allow ornamentation. I have a few pairs of lace-trimmed anklets that I wear with dressy flats and nice skirts (I bought them at Nordstrom and they are very comfy). I got so used to the anklets at school that I just wear them all the time. I wish more girls would wear them as only a few of my friends were anklets outside of school.

I don’t know if they’re making a comeback or not, but I would sure wear them! These socks are actually on my current wishlist. What a coinkydink! I think they would look darling with mary janes and a cute little skirt or dress. Pants wouldn’t show off their cuteness. Maybe capris o_O ? I think that if you like them, then it doesn’t matter if they’re coming back or not. Wear it anyway!

I think they’re making a comeback just because the 80’s are making a comeback. & the lace bobby sock with pumps look is an all time classic. I think Madonna did it too? Always looks good with skirts. Carla, I think you should wear them as much as you want with whatever you want. :) Stylish socks are always in style.
