Black & white Jester Fishnets
Another fun fishnet option for your leggy wardrobe!

For those of you who love crazy combinations and lots of layering, imagine the possibilities with these! right off the top of my head I see them with the OTKs with bows, white with black bows on the black leg and black with white bows on the white leg, or the other way around, maybe a black leg warmer on one side, white on the other, you could just go on and on with the variations….
Me, I’m usually a simple girl, happy just to be comfortable for the day and I think these are stunning all by themselves (okay maybe they’d be even better with a short black skirt or dress). The neting is not extra fine around the toes but is small enough that my toes managed to stay inside.

The Gloves

I bought a pair of these gloves some time ago from a web store that charges too much for shipping that will remain nameless and was going to send a photo to Niq of them because I liked them and maybe other people would like them too, but I never ended up getting around to it. Fast forward to Friday last week when I picked up my parcel at the post office: When I got it home and opened it there was a pair of those very same Lace Up Fingerless Fishnet Gloves. Maybe I was sending subliminal messages ;) *twilight zone theme*

You might need a friend to help you to tie these up, I used my other hand and my mouth and it worked ok lol and they should fit a wide range of hand sizes due to the stretchiness of the fishnet.

They’re back and so am I!

I’ve still been loyally reading the sock journal even though life has taken over a bit and I haven’t posted in a while!

I was so excited to see the footless fishnets back in stock (and now in white too)! All you have to do is walk through the mall and you can see that one of the big fashion statements for fall is peep-toe shoes. I can see these footless fishnets becoming a staple in my wardrobe for the coming months, because I personally hate having my toes covered when they’re showing. You could even throw leg warmers on top of the footless fishnets with a nice simple black peep-toe wedge for a cute look (does it show that I’ve been working in a shoe store the past few months?). I think the fishnets are a bit more dressy than just plan footless tights.

These fishnets in particular fit me so well. They’re not tight and clingy…they’re really soft and kind of just fall against your skin, along the curves of your knee and calf. My hips and waist area are still swollen as I’m recovering from surgery, but they still fit extremely comfortably up top…again they didn’t feel tight at all…they were just right with a good amount of stretch to them. They’re also quite durable. I didn’t worry much about snagging them. The bottom band stayed in place really well, so no worries about them rolling up on you either.

I love them so much I’m probably going to end up getting them in the white too.

vertical stripes are the best!

You know how there’s days when you just don’t want to think very hard about being colour co-coordinated? But you still want your legs to look stylish and fun? That’s when I grab one of my favorite everyday socks: the ink-lined. They fit my 6.5 feet just perfectly and land right over my knees. I love the vertical stripes and their snug fit. I also love the multitude of colours and I like to mix and match them too.

Some of the colours seem a bit longer than others, and my milk & cookies {white and black} pair did shrink a little in my dryer. I recommend cold washing and hang drying to avoid any shrinking. These do slip down a little while wearing, and some like to sit at the top of my knee caps, but most socks need a pull up now and again, so it doesn’t bother me too bad to pull these up occasionally.

I think what will turn most people off of the ink-lined is that they are a very snug fitting sock with smallish feet, and will definitely only be knee highs on sturdier legs. However, if you avoid the frustration of trying to make them OTKs and instead buy them AS knee highs, you’ll probably find them quiet wonderful. They always stayed put as knee highs on me. Shown here in lilac which re-awakened my love of purple, as I had carpet this exact colour as a kid. :) They are also fun to twist or cuff:

If you have really sturdy legs and have been hesitant to try the ink-lined, then start with the white/white. They are much stretchier, come up a lot higher and stay put better than the typical pair of ink-lined do. The white/white combination reminds me of little girl socks, so innocent and sweet.

I’ve heard that less colour choices will be available in the future, so don’t wait too long to get yourself a pair of the fabulous ink-lined.

Things that make my toes smile

After a wonderful week of visiting with our beloved webmistress Olivia our house seems terribly quiet without her infectious laugh filling the air. Many cool ideas were shared as we began work on the latest site update. Our home page was freshened up this week and new error pages are now in place with much MUCH more to come in bits and pieces in the months ahead. I’m off to shower in some of my newly acquired Lush products before attempting to catch up on sock shots (because, thanks to Shelleopard, I have recently become a Lushaholic too~:).

Here are some of the lovely letters we were blessed with this morning:
I would just like to say how very impressed I am with your site. As an American currently living in Thailand, I am used to things taking months to arrive in the mail, if they show up at all, but my order was incredibly prompt, and correct. The layout of the site itself is quite attractive and comprehensive, and I am amazed at the selection. I look forward to my next order, and I wish you well.
I would so love to see pix of our socks in Thailand, wouldn’t you?

I think you guys have a great site and you’re definitely the best sock distributor I’VE ever seen! You know what would be great? if you guys had more pictures of models in your socks with ideas for outfits to go along with the socks. You know, cool outfit ideas to show the socks off. Especially the knee high and over the knee. I really love them, but I’m usually not a skirt person. The only skirts I own are to-the-floor skirts. I would really love some over the knee socks, but I can’t think of what I would wear with them to show them off. Thanks!
Livvy & I were definitely discussing the need for more pictures of the socks, larger images, more angles. And I know there are others who would love us to show outfit ideas, but as I’ve always said, there is so much diversity & changes in the fashion world that suggesting how others should dress beyond their socks just isn’t my thing, however, I did point her to our journal because we do tend to show off what we wore our socks with here.

Hello. My roommate, Josie, and I have loved your site for years now but we’ve never told you all how great it is. We are both Chemical Engineering majors at the University of California, Berkeley and we’ve been family ever since we met with a shared love for socks (a miracle in a stuffy major like ChemE). Thank you for supplying us with so many choices and for being what makes us feel better so often.
There was more to that letter, but it was of a more personal nature due to a recent occurrence in their lives so I kept it private. We are honored to share the comfort great socks can provide.

I simply must share: I am LOVING my little Pink A Chevrons! I can’t stop looking at them on my feet! I will actually be sad to see them tossed into the hamper today. I have never before been into anklets, but these little adorable pink yummies have turned me onto them yet!
So this confirms for me 3 things:
1. I can now enjoy anklets.
2. I desperately need the longer version of Pink w/White.
3. I now love pink. (First time in my life, I think.)
Ah, sock goddesses, you have performed your magic again. Congrats.
Have a fabulous weekend, cheers to you all. =D

Hahaha, how many of us have said his exact thing about pink? and I recently discovered a huge love for anklets thanks to the A Chevrons too. I really am having a fabulous weekend thanks to all the sock love going around!

Just one more before I get up and get going:
Dear GREAT people of Sock Dreams,
I just want to let you guys know that you rock!! Not only was the shipping free (which believe me, freaked me out) but I placed the order Monday night and received my order on Wednesday!! I have never been so happy with ordering *anything* in my life and I’m not the type to exaggerate.
The same night I placed this order I placed an order with [another site]. Not only did I get error after error on their site but they placed a hold on the amount for the order then lost my order!! So that was the worst experience of my life. If you guys know of any sites to get cute garter belts please let me know so that I don’t have to give in and order from the evil [other site]. :)
Just wanted to let you know how awesome you are and to get ready because I know where I’m ordering all of my Christmas presents this year!!!
Huge fan,
Lana

We have even more cute garter belts coming!
Happy weekend everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
~xoxox~

What’s your top three?

August brought me a BIG house move from Texas to Michigan. While my over 200 pairs of socks and stockings were traveling cross country in boxes, I chose three of my *won’t do without them* pairs to go with me. So, even though my boxes took awhile to arrive, my legs still looked funky and fabulous! And here’s my three: the dark red with white ink lined. Which I had just bought & LOVE the color combo.

My ultimate favorite: Flat Knit Cotton OTK in black:

and everybody loves them, the O Chevrons with Black Details in lilac. Woo! The color of my carpet when I was a kid. … now to unpack….. ugh. … “Now where IS that thing I’m looking for?”…..

Stony Mist

I’ve been just wiped out from the heat these past two weeks, and these cute ruffley Tifanny Anklets are a nice way to beat the heat. The feet are a very stretchy teeny tiny fishnet type weave and the ruffle is a nice slinky satin.

I bought the Stony mist colour(which is a pale green) hoping it would go with my lilac/sliver shoes(yay it does! lol).

And the net is so fine that there will be no toe strangulation :)

Beyond ordinary

I don’t really think these pictures need words…

But just in case they do…
Geonet Collants
They are from Levante so they were made in Italy and smell nice.
They fit great & the pattern is very flattering.
Shhh! I cheated for the “capri” which is basically beige. I photoshopped images of the Glicin (pink to you & me) they look perfect from my monitor so hopefully I got it right. For the mango (uh, that’d be yellow, kind of an orange-y yellow) I used the package, we can’t try them all on all the time, much as I want to.

Simply plain & comfy!

There was a time when I would’ve considered these too ordinary to be sold here. But so many of us have enjoyed the Hot Sox Flat Knit Knee Highs and OTKs that I decided to give the Flat Knit Bell Tops a try. They are a rayon/nylon blend rather than cotton and are extra smooth & soft as a result. The toe seam is woven for those with extra sensitive toesies and the tops are loose enough that they didn’t leave marks in my ankles. They don’t snag easily and keep my feet feeling fresh on hot days. I think they are a great addition to any lightweight sock collection. Ah, is that a cool breeze I feel?

“WTF?”

I think that’s what a lot of us thought when we first saw the Fishnet Anklets with Cutouts, followed quickly by, “Well, I don’t know how I’d wear it, but it *is* kinda cute!” :D Shelleopard to the rescue! I got a pair of the two-tone black and pink to try out, and here are the results.

First things first, I just HAD to see how they’d work on hands…

Okay, so they’re sorta cute, but this certainly can’t be what Music Legs had in mind when they made them…could it? So, as the good little sock-scientist that I am, I tried again, this time on my feet.

Score! How CUTE!?! As you can see, I’m wearing them with a pair of the new Skull Leggings, for which I’ll post a review in the upcoming days. They looked perfect together, especially with a pair of toe-banded, ankle-strap stilettos. Pull on a hot pink mini and a slinky black top and you’re ready for ’80s night for sure! I was really impressed with these once I figured out how to wear them; I thought the hems around toe and heel were comfy and not-too-tight, and the pattern was thick enough to not give you that walking-on-fishnet feeling too badly. Totally adorable! I guess these anklets are trying to teach us the merits of giving something a chance. ;)
