Because we love you…

Not too long ago we introduced our tasty Neopolitan striped knee highs

to help keep you cool on warm summer days.
But so many of you sockaholics cried out for a thigh high version

that we couldn’t resist bringing some in.
…Afterall, it isn’t every day that a dream comes true!

Who needs Navy?

What is it about navy? it is nearly impossible to tell the difference from it and black in anything less than bright light. I have a theory that the entire reason navy exists is that black dye doesn’t always come out true black and when it isn’t a brown black it is navy. This may not be true, but I know I am not the only one who has trouble discerning it from black. I have even thought about not carrying it to be sure we never mixed them up (not that we often do, but it has happened). I suppose some people actually like it though and some people require it for uniformity.
The O Chevrons are currently a very dark navy. Actually, most of our Dream Stockings that are navy are currently the dark version, but in the not too far away future we’ll have a bluer navy. We’ll update our images and descriptions accordingly.

Hot & cold

After too many days of feeling too hot to wear socks over my knees I felt too cold not to this morning. Then, by this afternoon, I was too warm again. Thank goodness they are cotton and convertible. I slouched them down around my ankles at about 4 this afternoon and was pulling them back up by dusk. Is this heat wave finally over? Keep your toes crossed for coolness because we have lots of Over the knee & thigh high yumminess to share with you! These are the newest Super Knees, dark red & walnut. Not a combination that immediately grabbed me, but one that quickly grew on me, begging to be added to my personal collection and sure to be worn alot in the coming months! We have them in Super Stripes too ~:)

Sneak peak!

Shhh…

they’ll be in soon!!!

Next weekend: the Faerieworlds Festival™

Faeries love stripey socks and we love faeries!
So when we were asked to help sponsor this years Faerieworlds Festival we were delighted. We’ll be there both days selling socks and checking out the various activities. Among the guests next weekend will be the one & only Brian Froud! So get your tickets early and enjoy a weekend of music art & imagination at the Secret House Winery near Eugene. We’ll have plenty of socks & a few other goodies…
some that aren’t even on the website, some at reduced prices.
So get your wings on and get down there!

Outside events

Today we did our first outside event at the Division Street Fair. It was muggy and hot, but otherwise was fun. I wasn’t sure we’d really end up going due to the heat and the predicted highs for today ranging from 104-106F so I didn’t announce it. Plus, since it was our first time it was more of a practice run for the big Faerie Festival next weekend (more about that tomorrow…). I was going to post a picture of our cute little table set up but I seem to have left my camera’s cable in a box I dropped off at work after the event. So, instead, a picture I took yesterday of my summer-fav this year, the A Chevrons. I have a cute little box that I stuff my various colors of these in when they are clean. Right now it is empty again because the A Chevrons are about all I feel like wearing most days lately. I’m really liking the K Bell lace capris too! Soft, breathable and oh-so-cute with a light summery dress. I hope it cools off soon, I know I’m not the only one, but do you want to put on thigh highs and take pictures right now? I didn’t think so ~;)

Giggle wiggle wiggle…

My toes have been so tired of taking a beating by being curled, bent, pulled, & squished seven ways and sideways by socks that just won’t fit the length of my foot. These poor little toes (on my little ole size 11 feet) are the desperate victims of years of sock manufacturers size abuse. I have long desired to be small footed just to stop having curled toes and to get a bit of wiggle room in my socks.
I moved at the speed of light the second I heard the longer O’Chevrons were in. I tore (with unbridled enthusiasm) into that package the moment I ripped it out of the mailman’s surprised hands. They were on my feet faster than Vel could get a paw in to try to claim them as a new sock-toy…. I giggled, I gasped….. The heel IS on my heel… I paused, I held my breath, I stretched my toes… wiggle.. “Oh my god!!”… wiggle wiggle wiggle… “weeeeeeeeeeee”… wiggle… “THEY FIT!!!” “I CAN WIGGLE!!” (at this point Vel was watching me with tilted head and quizzical bafflement). I danced around the room. I LOVE THEM!!!!!

Now, yes… They ARE snug (but still okay) in width on the calves, and yes, the top is pretty tight right over my knee (actually the red are just a touch snugger than the lavender ones from the gift box). But they are brilliant, lovable, beautiful, and everything you want a good sock to be. And I’m going to wet stretch them and only hand wash them in cold to get more room. Also, the main leg portion of these does give a bit more room with wear, however the top band of the sock didn’t budge a fraction. That top band is what is causing me the problem… I think I make have to try another soxperiment by carefully cutting off the top band and replacing it with a more forgiving top from an old pair of socks (or a piece of elastic or what ever). I have a feeling that if I do that, not only will they be more comfortable to me, but I may just get them up higher on my legs.

I couldn’t stop looking at my feet while wearing these… you know, I think they even make my feet look smaller, they absolutely feel AND look like they fit. I no longer look like Sasquatch trying on Pippi Longstockings socks. Thank you Niq for understanding that the larger & longer need socks that fit too … have I told you lately how much I adore you!!!

Larger feet start those toes a-wigglin.. our time has come (tee hee.. wiggle wiggle)

Super Ms reviewed in New Zealand

I wanted to give you a little bit of feedback on the Super Ms (which are fantastic, and I adore that they come in small foot sizes, and the range of colours rocks). I’m about 5′4″ and 160lbs (hard to think in Imperial measurements :) ), with most of my weight on my legs. I’ve had a helluva time finding good long socks for winter, and ordered the Super Ms to try out as they were recommended for larger calves (18″ at the widest point, mine). I figured I’d just cuff them over the knee or wear them loose and low, but they actually manage to stretch reasonably comfortably and with little effort up to a part of my thigh that’s 26″ round. There’s a bit of a dent, but it’s not uncomfortable and they stay up fine for just wandering round the house all day. I haven’t tried them striding it out round the hills of Wellington yet. But for the truly thunderous of thigh, they’re a fantastic sock and I love them oh-so-much. I’m ordering a pair as a gift for a particularly tall (although fairly slim) and large-footed friend who also has a hard time finding things built to scale :).

I love your site so much. Myself and a few friends have become addicted over the past few months and seem to be ordering something every few weeks, as well as checking daily for updates to the site and the journal. It’s great that you stock such a range. Those of us that have been ordering range in size from me to two very petite women and two that are particularly tall as well as two that are actually average.

Two tones of super goodness

This week I added pictures of the new two toned Super Stripes
brought in by request, a green version is also on its way ~:)
Right now there are purples, blues, pinks, and teal with seafoam, not to mention the browns we already had, and black & grey count too, don’t they?
And we already have another new super stripe combo, plum walnut, it’s really pretty and I should have it shot and added in a few days. At any given time I have dozens of things to get pictures of between our ever expanding color selections and the many new things we bring in. Sometimes I feel like I am never going to catch, sometimes I’m not sure that it matters as long as stuff is getting done and sometimes I think I need to start working with more models.

What are they and how do we wear them?

Fishnet anklets with cut outs
…first we got these in a two tone black/pink combo and when I tested them they weren’t necessarily something I’d wear, but they did go on and look like they did in the pictures. They’ve been selling pretty well so I brought in two new combos, red with pink trim and black with pink trim. The black w/pink were okay, but these just didn’t seem to work, I tried them every which way with no success and finally, out of frustration, pulled them way up. It’s kinda weird, but at least they fit and weren’t floppy. I’m really tempted to never order them again, but I’ve said that before and always give in if the demand is high enough. So here they are in all their funky goodness, order a pair (or two) if you dare and let us know how they worked out for you. I think they would be fun for layering so get creative and give them a try. Or be like me and say “eh, I don’t think I like them” ~;)
