DIY sleeves from mesh capris

I really loved Niqkita’s pictures of the Mesh Capri with Ruffle Trim leggings, especially the one where the ruffles show from under shorts. {Which I think is in a journal review}. So I bought me a pair, figuring I could always make a top out of it if I hated it as leggings. Once I looked for something to wear it with I quickly realized I don’t own long shorts, and frankly only wear either very long or very short skirts. The length & style of the leggings looked weird with those length skirts. So, I made the Mesh Capri with Ruffle Trim leggings into a top. But the seat part was rather constricting on my torso, so I ended up chopping off the legs to make *sleeves* and lookit what I got:

TA-DAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! Pretty right? :) Well, I think so. Since my arms are so thin I kept them up with a pair of Miss Dater’s Ladies Adjustable Garters and folded them over a few times. Which works great until I get a sewing machine and finish them up properly. & they can still be pulled up around my knees and worn as a funky leg warmer if I wish.

So, just a crafty idea for you all. I think it would also look neat with another pair of warmers or gloves worn underneath too. Or maybe attach them to short sleeves with chain or suspender clips? Or put some eyelets in the sleeves and make long X stitches to a shirt with ribbon or embrodery floss? I have too many ideas. lol.

Fancy Fishnet Knee Highs

Very pretty little knee high fishnets with a backseam, a little lace ruffle around the top and cute little ribbons you can tie into a bow at the back.

The fishnets look tiny when they come out of the package but they stretched up to my knees with ease.

Yes, I looked like a ham when I took them off lol ;P

No heels, or no formed heels

A few weeks ago we had a phone order from a woman eager to get “the socks without heels”. Most days there are just a few of us in the office and that particular day it was Daffodil, Alicia & I and we were all sure , that these are what she wanted, they have no heel. The next week our phone rings and it is her again, and, in fact, the Lace knee highs with open heels are not at all what she wanted. A little information revealed that she actually wanted tube socks, as we all smacked ourselves in the head, of course, tube socks have no heels! no “formed” heels that is, because compared to what I’m wearing they do indeed seem to have heels ~;)
We sent her a pair of the OTK tubes and a pair of O Basics in exchange and she liked them so much she called in an order for more. As synchronicities would have it I had my pair of the no heels on and was planning to test them for hot days and tell this little story. Despite a simple misunderstanding & some trouble with our shopping cart she *LOVES* our Dream Stockings!
I really *LOVE* the no heels, but was also really happy to take them off at the end of the day…

Tips for staying cool

Dress in layers and be sure to wear fun socks.
The Antoinettes are knee high and allow your legs plenty of fresh air.
Tie them high, tie them low, if you like, you can tie them in a bow…

Most importantly, drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun!

I love to be warm & hate to be hot
so if there is a furrow in my brow, mad at you I am not.

Super Long Sheer Leggings

These Super Long Sheer Leggings are a new favorite for me. Out of the package these babies are over 65 inches long! I’m 5′2″ and I can hold the waist band higher than my head and the ends still pile up on the floor. They are that long. Which means oodles of folds can be created down the leg. The easiest way to get them on is to bunch it all up on your hand, then slip it on the foot, pulling it over the heel. I mention this because at first I tried to pull these on like a sock and quickly realized that way would take forever to get on. I also got it snagged on my toenails. oops! I had fun adjusting all the wrinkles and although I was fearfull that I had run them when they got caught on my nails, it didn’t make a run at all. There were a few tiny horizontal lines from that {forgot what they’re called} but since there’s so many folds, they never even showed.

I think these Super Long Sheer Leggings look really great and they’re thin enough to dress up your legs in the summertime without heating you up. The cuff is a lettuced ruffle hem which is cute to show off with sandals or pumps. I also thought the texture would look neat over a contrasting stripe.

Shown here over Music Legs’ Opaque Vertical Stripes which I was hesitant to buy, fearing that the seams where the colours are sewn together would be big and bulky and end up giving me blisters. I was happily surprised at how thin the seams actually are, and have never even felt the seams in my shoes. The only thing I don’t like on these is that the black is a bit see through, instead of a strong deep black. It doesn’t detract from their fun factor any. I’m a huge fan of vertical stripes instead of horizontal stripes. {Takes all kinds huh?} lol. The Opaque Vertical Stripes come in black & white, black & neon pink, or black & red combinations at $9.00 a pair. Tube style feet and they stay up OTK really well too. ooo! another two-fer review from me! :)

Blue Sky

The Super Long Sheer Leggings are exactly that. They’re about 6 feet long and are gossamer gauzy sheer with a tiny bit of sparkliness out in the sunshine.

Seeing as they are so long they take a good amount of time to gather up on your fingers so you can get them on lol and you’ll need to do a bit of pinching to get the ruchedness(not a word ;P) where you want it. Now since I’m 5′ 9″(yes, I just grew half an inch overnight I swear lol Aren’t I too old for that?) I have decidedly less ruchiness(another not word ;D) than somebody would if they were not as vertically endowed.

The waistband wasn’t too tight, I had it folded down to just above my butt so I could wear them with the super low rise skirt I had on, the waistband did go all the way up to my waist otherwise. For the love of not snagging these please file your fingernails smooth lol

One more photo just for fun…

In or Out

I recently read on a supposedly ultra fashionable site that stripes & fishnet were out!
Can you imagine? two timeless classics out? I say hurrah! I’m not into being in, I’m into being me. And thankfully, so are most of our customers. We’re not fashion followers, were fashion leaders, even if only in our own cozy worlds. Our delightful Director of Customer Correspondence, Daffodil, was seeking a topic for our Myspace blog the other day and I mentioned that so she posted it and all the feedback affirms that we are not alone in our love for these two. In fact, I’ve long been a fan of putting them together so when someone said that the two together were “just weird enough to work” I made a mental note to feature that soon and sure enough, within days I found myself craving fishnets over my stripes, so here I am wearing the Fancy fishnet knee highs over the Centered BIG striped OTKs. They slipped down a few times throughout the day, the OTKs becoming knee highs and the fishnets looking like midcalfs, a simple tug over the knees with the cotton tops of my stripes put everything back in its place for awhile. I find I like the ribbons on these knee highs left untied and was even thinking about tying some beads on to them for extra dangle.
Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Head over Heels…

The Regency Tulle Knee Highs are just the sweetest little nothings. Not near knee high on me (but not a problem foot size wise as there are no heel seams), yet deliciously innocent/sexy delicate little socks. I think these would be really contradictarily cute crouched down on the ankles with a pair of black fishnets or skull leggings under them. I found them surprisingly pretty as I wouldn’t normally go for this style, however… once I had them on, I just couldn’t stop looking down at how sweet they are. They are so cute and innocent they make me wanna run around in them outside and get some grass stains on em (no.. really… I wouldn’t ever do something like that.. tee hee). ;oP

Dreaming in greens

Bright, intense, saturated shades of brilliance in tonal combos like kelly & lime, sage & olive, royal & light blue or nearly annoying contrasts like raspberry & lime…
the N Stripes are growing in choices with even more to come.
I, as usual, caved for the greens~ you can’t be to rich or have too many greens and the greens just may be easier for us to accomplish ~;)
