? Glamour Gloves & the Modern Grrl ?

Pretty little pink satin gloves with bows… What could be more perfect for a retro 50’s -60’s inspired look. We go back to the days of girly-girl glamour & antiquated rules of female etiquette to borrow the look… Then take it back here to 2006 to where we can wear it with strength, attitude, and NO rules! Though, Just for fun, I found some fun old “glove etiquette” rules here…
“Miss Abigail’s Time Warp Advice”
…and below I mention a few others I’d found online.

These feel great on, have lots of stretch, and will cover most larger hands just fine. They clean up nicely in a cold water woolite soak (I even got a dark red lipstick stain right out that way… Don’t rub too hard though (just soak and gently run the suds through), or you’ll damage the pretty fabric). I really love these… And must have at least one more pair (because I intend on wearing them often). I adore wearing soft feminine things right alongside rough and dark things (though you’d never know from these pics huh? tee hee), like pink satin gloves with a beat up MC jacket and combat boots. These gloves really are exceptionally durable too, I’d already thought I’d ruined them twice… Then after a soak they came out just lovely again.

OLD RULES SAY ** Your gloves should be kept on when shaking hands in a reception line or when dancing.

Okay… I’ll buy this one as it does cut down on germies.

OLD RULES SAY ** Gloves may also be worn while drinking, though care must be exercised not to spill liquids on them. It is better to remove, or partially remove them when practicable.

I feel that the more cocktails you consume, the more of a need for cute style choices. Too many drinks may not be too pretty, but your little satin gloves will hold up much longer than you might. They also make great visual emphasizers when vocalizing those ‘ohh so profound’ cocktail enhanced epiphanys (hick). Might I also add that these particular cuter than cute gloves go ‘oh so well’ with green tea liquor… Yummy (hick).

OLD RULES SAY ** When you sit down to dinner, you should take off your gloves, and put them back on when dinner is over.

I suppose you could take them off… But I say… LET THEM EAT CAKE (with their gloves on!!). These wash so easily in a bit of woolite, so why not have your cake and glovies too.
OLD RULES SAY ** If you remove your opera gloves, you should not take them off in a way that calls undue or seductive attention to the process.

Awww Heck, that’s half the fun. Disregard the above etiquette tip completely, and have fun with ALL your gloves.. They’re HOT!

I think we had just a little too much fun making this post :O)

I used to wear gloves all the time, and I so want to bring back to my wardrobe some more glove styles. In the 80’s I always had gloves on… usually ‘over the elbow’ ones with cut off finger tips, but sometimes I wore lace fingerless ones, fishnet ones, even bright orange hunter gloves with kaki green glove liners. sigh… I love gloves. I even called my cut off ones my drinking gloves! and I used to insist that I had to wear them when consuming alcohol :O) Then one St. Patricks day, this bar in upstate NY handed out funny little greem cheap fingerless gloves that had “drinking gloves” printed on them… I got such a kick outta that, I may still have them tucked away somewhere :O)

oh and, that’s “green” not greem (but what a cool word that sounds like… wonder if it is an actual word)
