Right on her heels… (well actually not) :O)
At the very same time our own Shelleopard was posting about the cute AChevrons, I was taking a walk on the pier in my OChevrons. Vel and I love going for early (way AM) walks in cute socks (I’m the one to wear them, though he has in fact worn socks… But that’s another story).
I never wore these before because I was convinced that I didn’t like them on me. In honesty, I’ve had these Natural color OChevrons for quite a long while now. When they had arrived I tried them on once and intentionally hid them away (far away in the deep recesses of my closet). What had put me off? The two main size problems I have with many socks were found in these too. The feet are too small to properly fit a size 11… And the legs too short to accommodate wider, longer legs to an OTK length. Though I loved the pattern, that just wasn’t enough for me to like them when they didn’t fit quite right. Until………………..
The Oscar boxes happened (Star Sock Gift boxes). When I tried on the longer Ochevrons in that gift pack I nearly giggled with excitement. One of the problems was no more. They now were able to go up and over my knees! I danced around in lovely chevron purpleness. Yes, they are snug on my ample pins… But the pattern is not distorted on the width and I do believe that with more wear they will become more fitting on my legs. With shoes, they are lovely on me… Without shoes, it is obvious that the feet are way too small. I know I seem to have a such a long wish-list of socks that I would like to see with larger feet, but it’s just because I do have larger feet and want to wear ALL the socks :O)
anyway… Having now fallen in adoration of the longer Chevrons, it was time to take the OChevrons out of the isle of misfit-ing socks and give them another try during a lovely morning walk out on the NYC piers. (see the stature of Liberty through the bars of the rail?)I felt very dolly like with these ankle/maryjane style shoes and my Ochevrons cutely slouched around my ankles. There is something very clean and crisp about the chevron pattern, the same type of effect that cable knit patterns have. I’m so glad that the Purple Oscar box Chevrons convinced me to try these once more… As long as I’m wearing shoes (to hide the heel seam in my arch), these Ochevrons make really sweet little slouchie socks. But, if you have thinner legs and smaller feet than me… These Ochevrons would be amazing as OTKs too! Totally perfect for that ’school girl’ look.
The Chevron Dream styles are great. If they ever come with larger feet, I will be totally in love with them… Until then, as long as I have shoes to hide the heels, (and boy do I have shoes) I just really really like them :O)

hmm, well I have average sized feet( uhh they’re 9 7/8 inches long, that’s 8.5 ladies shoe size I think, help me Brannock device! Yet I have shoes from 7-10 in my closet lol) but I’m taller than 5′8″ (only half an inch though lol) and probably have slightly longer legs than the average person of that height, and I need more xtra long chevrons ;D ;D but first I must get a new VCR because mine decided it was going to die today after many years of service.

Thanks Rebekah :) I might try the anklet Ink Lineds but I do so love the colours of the normal ones (unless boys start wearing Bubblegum? ;)) – they’d probably still fit the same. EG – sounds like you summed up the heights and feet sizes nicely. Now we know who to be jealous of! Shannon and Rebeckah, have you ordered the smaller footed super stripes before? I’m ordering that too in the hope that it’ll fit me better than the pink knees did.

I used to be a size 5 back in highschool. I’m a size 6.5 ish now also. I;m also only 5′ tall… so I know how that goes hehehe.

Sierra.. you are pretty perfectly the average sock size :O) lucky you!!! you get to wear most everything! I think that average foot falls just around a size 8 (with people having noticeable problems if they are smaller than a 6, or larger than a 10)… and Height wise, the legs that belong to those that are between 5′4″ and 5′6″ is a lovely fitting average (with any noticeable length problems arising for those either under 5′2″ or over 5′8″). Then of course add in the width variations and if you are either a bit thin or a bit vuluptuous, which can either lessen or worsen the problems caused by which side of average you fall on on either the height or foot size measurement. You can also get into a whole more complicated set of figures if you take the exceptions to the rule, like people that have really long legs for their height or vice versa. But I think the general ideas above holds true the most often.

Elissa, I have US size 6.5, and I think I’m the reviewer with the smallest feet? I’m not sure about MaryFairy’s shoe size…. Have you tried the small size boy socks? They’re too small for me, but they might fit you perfectly. & they’re just like the ink lined in an anklet. :)

The O chevrons are the bestest! Although, it’s too bad the feet don’t come in larger sizes for our larger footed friends.

Heehee, there’s nothing at all wrong with the phrase “our larger footed friends”, and it’s the best way to say it. That being said, I always picture us as like, snowshoe hares and clydesdales and snow leopards and things, lol! :D

Vel has a bit of a foot fetish :O) (funny, he’s trying to lick my feet as I type this), and socks were also the first and only thing he’d play with for the first few months I had him.

I’ve been checking the Sock Journal for a while so I thought I should start commenting. The recent pictures of O Chevrons have been *gorgeous* – I’m ordering my first pair next pay day :D Charcoal, yummy! With *tiny* size 5 (Australian) feet (plus only being 5′0″ tall), I’ve found the Ink Lineds and my friend’s O Chevrons to fit me just right. I still have sympathy for the larger footed, being smaller footed myself and not being able to order certain socks :( I envy the average footed – they must be able to order pretty much anything they want. Out of curiousity, are there many people out there with size 5 feet?! I’d love to be able to compare some notes :)
