Eva’s take on the new N40s

In my last package from SockDreams there was a surprise pair from Niq:
thigh high, thick, nylon stockings in the brightest fuchsia one could imagine.
(listed as mulberry)
These are very like the M43s in length, width and appearance. The nylon makes them a little stretchier than the cotton though. I can’t wear my M43s uncuffed, because my 22-23 inch thighs are too wide, but these I could pull all the way up. Since my legs aren’t very long, 29 inches, they reached almost to the top of my legs. They were more comfortable cuffed though so that’s how I wear them. They are tight while stretchy so they give quite a thigh bulge on my plump thighs, but that really isn’t a problem because I don’t wear that short skirts (actually I do, but mostly at home and not in public), or if I would I would just cuff it a little more to make it sit lower where I’m not quite so…fleshy.
The bright side of this tightness is that they stay up better than any other thigh high sock I’ve tried. I have a rather brisk and rhythmic walk so my socks tend to work themselves down to, or below, my knees quite fast. But not with these, they maybe moved an inch during the day and I don’t even need sock garters.
I have machine washed them once, in warm water and couldn’t see any shrinkage.
They didn’t bleed either, which is good since the colour is very strong.
Actually, that’s one thing I really like about the DreaMStockings, none of them has bled in the wash, and I do buy dark colours like navy too. I haven’t noticed any pilling on these either, which I expected, since nylon doesn’t pill the way cotton does.

To sum it up: I really like them. They stay up, they are thick enough to be worn when it’s 41-50 F as it is here now, but I think I would wear them up to maybe 60-65 F. And the colour is brilliant. The elastic is black which adds extra depth to the colour.
I’m still more of a cotton fan, but I will probably buy more of these because I really want a long sock that stays up by itself. I think they would be adorable with a short pleated skirt.

  8. Sierra Says:

Perhaps Sand for the topaz color name? It looks more like sand than Topaz. Or mustard, although I’m not sure thats exactly..attractive?

it looks purplish to me. a little lighter than a black grape. I’m convinced computers/digi cams can’t *get* some colours yet, like how film couldn’t get reds or neons right for the longest time… same with computers. But it’s just a theory I have. Mainly because I couldn’t get the mallard M40s colour right no matter how much colour correction I did. & it was natural lighting. so.. hm.
