Right on their heels and they’re on mine! :)

Little legs and feet love the O Chevrons and the A chevrons too! The heels land right on the heels of my 6.5 feet & I have some toe wiggle room too. I prefer a giving sock like these, as I don’t like it when my toes curl because my socks are too tight. lol. They are a wonderful OTK height, they stay put really well. They’re thin enough for Spring and Summer yet also keep my legs comfortable in the freezing air conditioning. I have a bunch of colours and find myself grabbing these or the ink lined as my *everyday* OTK wear. Sooo comfy and I look stylish without having to think much about it. The only thing I don’t like with them is they sometimes start making a doughnut roll on my legs. But that’s not anything major at all.

The A chevrons are super cute, but I must admit, I am a fanatical OTK girl, so I usually only wear the A’s over the longer O Chevrons which really are a great everyday sort of sock. Chevrons look super cute layered in matching sets, folded into knee highs, scrunched down, and even twisted around.

Right on her heels… (well actually not) :O)

At the very same time our own Shelleopard was posting about the cute AChevrons, I was taking a walk on the pier in my OChevrons. Vel and I love going for early (way AM) walks in cute socks (I’m the one to wear them, though he has in fact worn socks… But that’s another story).

I never wore these before because I was convinced that I didn’t like them on me. In honesty, I’ve had these Natural color OChevrons for quite a long while now. When they had arrived I tried them on once and intentionally hid them away (far away in the deep recesses of my closet). What had put me off? The two main size problems I have with many socks were found in these too. The feet are too small to properly fit a size 11… And the legs too short to accommodate wider, longer legs to an OTK length. Though I loved the pattern, that just wasn’t enough for me to like them when they didn’t fit quite right. Until………………..

The Oscar boxes happened (Star Sock Gift boxes). When I tried on the longer Ochevrons in that gift pack I nearly giggled with excitement. One of the problems was no more. They now were able to go up and over my knees! I danced around in lovely chevron purpleness. Yes, they are snug on my ample pins… But the pattern is not distorted on the width and I do believe that with more wear they will become more fitting on my legs. With shoes, they are lovely on me… Without shoes, it is obvious that the feet are way too small. I know I seem to have a such a long wish-list of socks that I would like to see with larger feet, but it’s just because I do have larger feet and want to wear ALL the socks :O)

anyway… Having now fallen in adoration of the longer Chevrons, it was time to take the OChevrons out of the isle of misfit-ing socks and give them another try during a lovely morning walk out on the NYC piers. (see the stature of Liberty through the bars of the rail?)I felt very dolly like with these ankle/maryjane style shoes and my Ochevrons cutely slouched around my ankles. There is something very clean and crisp about the chevron pattern, the same type of effect that cable knit patterns have. I’m so glad that the Purple Oscar box Chevrons convinced me to try these once more… As long as I’m wearing shoes (to hide the heel seam in my arch), these Ochevrons make really sweet little slouchie socks. But, if you have thinner legs and smaller feet than me… These Ochevrons would be amazing as OTKs too! Totally perfect for that ’school girl’ look.

The Chevron Dream styles are great. If they ever come with larger feet, I will be totally in love with them… Until then, as long as I have shoes to hide the heels, (and boy do I have shoes) I just really really like them :O)

Foot Louvres

In Lilac A Chevrons, this spring’s warm nights can’t beat my feet. I get breezes like crazy AND a cute, sexy, well-fitting anklet.

These are the socks that I always grab right out of the shower before bed; they’re my no-fail spring-summer-fall bedsock due to their lightweight, airy pattern that’s perfect for the Southern clime. Plus, they’re comfy, stretchy enough that it doesn’t matter that the heels don’t quite meet mine, and just freakin’ adorable. :)

The little chevron patterns make sure that my feet don’t overheat, while their ample elastic keeps them in place and their cotton construction keeps them durable, too. I especially love that they don’t seem to collect all the cat hairs in the house. ;D I think I’ve become quite addicted to the A Chevrons, and at their price and ability to conquer so many sock needs (bedsock, casual sock, dressy sock, cutesy sock), I don’t know if I could have chosen better. :)

Purple Dreams

Fuzzy side out dark purple dreamy striped tubes with their tops folded back down and lilac slouch socks covering my feet feel dreamy on chilly mornings & evenings. I used to hate tube socks but have grown quite fond of them this past year. People have’t been buying as many of the dark dream tubes as the other styles/colors and Alicia has threatened to not order more when we run out so if you love these as much as I do you better order some while you can ~;)

Warmers

I recently met a beautiful woman selling brightly colored tights and stockings at a trade show. She had some of the more unique styles I’ve seen and I ordered so many my head was starting to spin. Most won’t be in til closer to fall, but she brought us these arm & leg warmers right away. The only problem is there weren’t nearly as many of them available as I wanted. More to come, *hopefully*, for now there are the extra long black arm warmers which were not meant to be this long and we only got a dozen. Shelleopard was here visiting at the time and snagged a pair immediately so we have 11 left for you ~:) they are 25 inches long! the same length as the leg warmers which come in solid black and stripes to match the striped arm warmers I posted last night. Of the striped arm warmers I ordered the jeans (pictured below) and the violet can in very small amounts, I do think we’ll get more but do not yet know when. They are about 15 inches long and are sooo comfy! t-shirt material with thumb holes, the part around the hands is not tight like some arm warmers. I was told the leg warmers would not stay up and were meant to fall, but when I tried them I thought they stayed up pretty well creating the thigh high leg warmers we’ve been getting requests for lately. They didn’t stay up perfectly, I did have to pull them back up from time to time, wearing them over tights would lessen this as would using some type of garter, the fabric is thin enough to allow or garter belt clips too.

Pick a pair…

Last week I said I’d tell you about the arm warmers & I promise I will…
but first I need to sleep…
check out the latest items page
more leg warmers coming in the morning…
The bad news is that we didn’t get very many of the arm warmers at all.
more info late Monday morning…
nighty night!

I love green

especially in spring…

especially on feet…

especially on socks….

Happy Earth Week’s end!

Eva’s take on the new N40s

In my last package from SockDreams there was a surprise pair from Niq:
thigh high, thick, nylon stockings in the brightest fuchsia one could imagine.
(listed as mulberry)
These are very like the M43s in length, width and appearance. The nylon makes them a little stretchier than the cotton though. I can’t wear my M43s uncuffed, because my 22-23 inch thighs are too wide, but these I could pull all the way up. Since my legs aren’t very long, 29 inches, they reached almost to the top of my legs. They were more comfortable cuffed though so that’s how I wear them. They are tight while stretchy so they give quite a thigh bulge on my plump thighs, but that really isn’t a problem because I don’t wear that short skirts (actually I do, but mostly at home and not in public), or if I would I would just cuff it a little more to make it sit lower where I’m not quite so…fleshy.
The bright side of this tightness is that they stay up better than any other thigh high sock I’ve tried. I have a rather brisk and rhythmic walk so my socks tend to work themselves down to, or below, my knees quite fast. But not with these, they maybe moved an inch during the day and I don’t even need sock garters.
I have machine washed them once, in warm water and couldn’t see any shrinkage.
They didn’t bleed either, which is good since the colour is very strong.
Actually, that’s one thing I really like about the DreaMStockings, none of them has bled in the wash, and I do buy dark colours like navy too. I haven’t noticed any pilling on these either, which I expected, since nylon doesn’t pill the way cotton does.

To sum it up: I really like them. They stay up, they are thick enough to be worn when it’s 41-50 F as it is here now, but I think I would wear them up to maybe 60-65 F. And the colour is brilliant. The elastic is black which adds extra depth to the colour.
I’m still more of a cotton fan, but I will probably buy more of these because I really want a long sock that stays up by itself. I think they would be adorable with a short pleated skirt.

N for Nylon

These are the nylon version of the M40s/M43s which we are calling, logically enough, N40s. The colors are brilliant and the fit is fantastic, though putting them on takes a bit of effort, much like putting on very thick stockings. Once on they feel fantastic! like support hose without the panty part and they stayed up no matter what I did, up & down the stairs, bending, sitting, climbing even running wildly through the park after work, up & down hills with Lola they barely budged! Once through the wash softened up that slightly odd nylon feeling and though they looked shorter when I took them out of the dryer they stretched right back into place.

Fun with ribbons

An excellent idea submitted by a Portland sock lover…

I have loved the lace-up thigh highs since I got them last summer,
but I was always somewhat bothered by their laces. They’re more like bootlaces, and not quite right for the sexy look of the lace-up socks. So, I got some lovely pink ribbon and decided to try that instead.

I’m quite pleased with the results. If anyone else wants to try, I suggest a sturdy, satiny ribbon, and one needs at least two yards per sock. Two yards was barely enough for me, I should have gone with two and a half for nice big bows, but it works for now. Next time I’ll get more and try some other colors as well! (I’m a Portlander as well, and if you’re curious, I got my ribbon at Presents of Mind on Hawthorne.)
