Quality issues?

Monday morning we received a note with the subject: socks
…and the following message:
I have returned all socks as they were of very low quality
no order number & the name attached to the email was not the actual bill to name they used to place the order. Later in the day we received a box full of our cotton slouch socks, pictured above complete with the enclosed note. The problem? “they are all coming apart at the top edge”. From my end the problem is they never gave us a chance to explain the socks, not to mention they didn’t actually get an authorization for this rather large return (which brings up the question, who orders 20 pairs of a sock they have never even tried?) in fact, to my knowledge they have yet to reply to our standard returns questions we usually ask before authorizing a return which includes the question: “how could we have better described them?” because I know we miss something here and there that would help you, the customer, make a better decision about whether or not a sock is going to work for you. Personally I think this is just rude, but professionally, well, I still think it’s rude, but fortunately all the socks were in perfect condition and will make several people very happy.
But I still felt this was something we should address because the way the tops are finished is different from some socks since they don’t turn under at the tops…

Many high quality socks are actually finished exactly like this, but some fibers disguise it better than others. In the case of the high cotton content versions we have it is fairly noticeable, but they do not come apart because of it and I just tuck them under a tad to get the nice look that shows at the tops of many of the images on their page. Also, in the EG Smith boot socks that are twice the price there are just as many bits of yarn sticking out at the ends but you don’t notice because it isn’t at the very top of the socks. These are not the highest quality socks, they are a tremendous value though and one that many of us appreciate

pfft. crackheads. slouch socks are awesome! I admit, many of the M styles take you a minute to get used to, due to the high cotton content and the finishing or different weaves, but not even trying them on is a little hoighty-toity for someone who bought $5 socks!!!

that pisses me off. i would give my right arm to have those socks (haven’tbeen able to order, unemployed for a while) and they just dismiss them without getting to know them. : \ AND DON’T EVEN RETURN THEM CORRECTLY, what the hell?

Considering I just did a return with you guys for a pair that really was defective and how easy it was (and how professionally it was handled), I can’t understand why someone would go about doing this.

I loooooooove the slouch socks! And all of the M lines really, and I actually find the little threads sticking out here and there gives them character and makes them even neater! And I like the way they’re finished too…. and why would someone not read the return instructions? I’m obsessive about doing that sort of thing correctly because bigger businesses in particular probably won’t give you your money back if you don’t…. I’ve yet to need to return anything to you guys anyway because all of your socks are wooonderful hehe. Keep up the great work and don’t get discouraged by the occasional morons !!=)

Thats so bizarre. Did they even leave a number for you to give them their money back or anything? Or did they just give you a bunch of socks they bought and didn’t want them anymore?

Fortunately they included the invoice with the order, it’s what the note is written on. So we’re only out the cost of shipping it to them, and at least a little frustration.

I’ve only recieved 2 items that were less than perfect. One was a pair of prepackaged hose, one leg had weird pull lines all over it, and I exchanged it. The other was an Orkney Angora syle that had a dropped stitch. I though about sending it back, but decided going to the post office in December and then paying for postage was more trouble than it was worth. Instead I took 5 minutes to sew it up myself, and now I can’t even tell where the defect was!

good lord! which socks are you wearing that are “busting from the seams because they are too small?” maybe we can figure out why. :)

  10. Niq Says:

yeah, maybe they are defective, because if you are a size zero that shopuld not happen. I know everyone has different standards for comfort and some people give new items more “break in” time, but we hear from people with 23-25 inch thighs every week who are thrilled beyond belief to find thigh high socks that fit them and stay up so nicely. Of course the M Stripes don’t fit that bill, but I am a size 5 and am totally comfy in those…
