Laundry day

With as many socks as Bsti & I have I’ve taken to washing them all together in one big load of nothing but socks. So as I was sorting them and pondering my sockie life I realized it would be fun to take some pictures to share…

How many socks can you identify in my batches?

Silky Stripes

Foot Traffic striped thigh highs…
Yup, more stripes. I was hesitant to get them and slow to add them. But just like the other Foot Traffic thigh highs these have a nice feel, good fit and stay up really well. Of course most things that will stay up well in the thigh area is likely to make a bit of a dent or cause a little bulge, it’s not too bad but worth mentioning. They are opaque, a little less so where they stretch the most, isn’t that usually the case?
Foot Traffic also offers tights, I think we just might need to add those if they feel this nice, should we be getting more tights this close to warmer weather though? Maybe if we just get a few colors to start after I get more caught up with adding new stuff…

Quality issues?

Monday morning we received a note with the subject: socks
…and the following message:
I have returned all socks as they were of very low quality
no order number & the name attached to the email was not the actual bill to name they used to place the order. Later in the day we received a box full of our cotton slouch socks, pictured above complete with the enclosed note. The problem? “they are all coming apart at the top edge”. From my end the problem is they never gave us a chance to explain the socks, not to mention they didn’t actually get an authorization for this rather large return (which brings up the question, who orders 20 pairs of a sock they have never even tried?) in fact, to my knowledge they have yet to reply to our standard returns questions we usually ask before authorizing a return which includes the question: “how could we have better described them?” because I know we miss something here and there that would help you, the customer, make a better decision about whether or not a sock is going to work for you. Personally I think this is just rude, but professionally, well, I still think it’s rude, but fortunately all the socks were in perfect condition and will make several people very happy.
But I still felt this was something we should address because the way the tops are finished is different from some socks since they don’t turn under at the tops…

Many high quality socks are actually finished exactly like this, but some fibers disguise it better than others. In the case of the high cotton content versions we have it is fairly noticeable, but they do not come apart because of it and I just tuck them under a tad to get the nice look that shows at the tops of many of the images on their page. Also, in the EG Smith boot socks that are twice the price there are just as many bits of yarn sticking out at the ends but you don’t notice because it isn’t at the very top of the socks. These are not the highest quality socks, they are a tremendous value though and one that many of us appreciate

It can be our little secret, for now…

During the holidays we ran out of most of the colors of our skater inspired striped knee highs. So we took advantage of the opportunity to ask for an improvement:
“can we have them thicker & with terry looping inside the feet?”
This pink pair was one of our sample pairs. We gave them a good testing and responded with a resounding, YES! we like ‘em, make us more! Then they arrived and we still had a few colors of the old style left, at the time we were swamped with being busy & shorthanded so we added them and didn’t tell anyone (I know, bad us!) but we figured people would be happily surprised and not one person complained of them being too thick or comfy and time went on. Well, here I am getting ready to get caught up (right, like that’ll ever happen) so I asked Alicia to set me up with a pair of each so I can get them properly listed and photographed. Til that happens I’m sharing the news with you, my closest sock friends ~:)
What you need to know:
white with oranges
blacks with greens and…
blacks with yellows are all that is left of the thinner version.
The rest are now about 50% thicker with terry looping inside the feet making the feet nicely padded and extra comfy. The foot size did not change, it fits my feet well and has enough stretch to fit a little smaller and a bit larger
(keeping them in that usual one size range).
They still stay up great, maybe even better than before.
I’ve worn & washed this pair many times and as you can see from tonight’s shot they still look nice. Plus they stayed up for a full day of working (which always includes running up and down the stairs many times) and a nice long walk after work including some running around with Lola.
A couple of colors have changed slightly too, but now that I’m sitting here doing this I realize I’m missing a few pairs so I can only tell you the white with pinks are now a brighter pink and the greys, I know Alicia told me they were different, but I only have a white pair and they look the same. Mondays, Mondays, I almost did a different post that was going to be titled “I don’t like Mondays” Hurray for Tuesday!

Continuing the theme…

I know, I know, it’s almost all we’ve shown this week…
but I couldn’t resist adding mine before we move on.
Super Stripes in pink and natural, I’m lucky because with shoe sized 8.5 ish feet I can wear either the larger footed or smaller footed equally well, here I am wearing the larger footed. They do not stay up well on me without sock garters, which is fine for bedtime or around the house, but these pretty little budded garters kept them up nicely for a day at work and a walk at the park, I think I only had to tug them up & adjust them twice all day, and just a bit at that.
It’s been another amazing week…
Strong sales have continued, but more importantly,
my stress has dropped tremendously, why?
for at least a few reasons: one, tax prep is done, now I just have to wait til our accountant tells me the results, two, and likely the biggest thing, is that our employees are doing a great job, taking on more responsibilities and generally making me smile more than I have in months. I barely check work related emails from home anymore, don’t deal with returns at all (except to give assistance to Daffodil, who is now in charge of them) and I’ve finally stepped back to allow someone else to pull the non Dream Stocking orders part of the time (I still check them all for accuracy though). It’s fantastic to see everything growing before my eyes!
Here are a few more things that have made me smile lately…

you’re like the willy wonka for socks.
can’t wait for my socks! so ecstatic

Absolutely love your socks. The M43’s and the O marleds are especially wonderful! But I find I am using the O Basics the most. In NYC I go from bitter cold outdoors to tropical overheating too often (older buildings have archaic heating systems so they go for excess rather than get complaints) so its all about lighter layering. My only complaint is that they are just slightly short (as you helpfully point out in the item description, so I was not disappointed when I got them–no complaints there). However, just to let you know– I would be willing to pay a buck or two more for a tall version. Two inches would make a great difference! The length on the O Marleds is perfect! No reply to this email is necessary–just keep the socks coming!
Ah, that’s just what we’ll do!!!

Stripes and Spikes

It’s the perfect sometimes-chilly, sometimes-warm time of year for Super Stripes! Of course they go about to mid-thigh and cover your leggies for warmth, but they’re also a nice loose knit that allows breezes for your kneezes. I like mine with sock garters and a skirt or shorts.

I scrunch mine to just a few inches above the knee and fasten the garter there; this time it was the Pink Spiked Garters.

I thought the mixture of sweet pink with black and hard spikes was great fun, and it was comfy, too! :)

Mousse in boots

I had been tempted by the tasty Biella socks for long enough one long day recently when I decided I needed a special treat for my feet. I know, you’d think I’d already have one of each wouldn’t you? but sometimes I think I should not keep any for myself, I mean, having one of everything is just not realistic for someone in my position, can you imagine how many dressers & boxes & hanging thingies I’d need?
I am oh-so-in-love with the niegos, but the Lani Mousse Cuff Boot Socks seemed the more practical choice so I’ll continue to drool over the niegos for now (more colors of those are on order besides the ones we are currently out of, someone in Alaska really loves those and keeps buying them all~:)

These are a delicious blend of “extra fine” merino wool, cashmere and angora with a dash of this and a pinch of that for added stretch & stability. They have terry looping around the feet and I really did notice a comfortable dryness to my feet despite the cozy effect of the wool and the cuffs, yes, the MOUSSE cuffs, light and airy yet warm and comfy! These are the grey, even though the cuff is more of a dusty rose. This is nearly confusing because the “caviar” have a grey cuff, but the feet are black, not to worry though, the label on the back tells us which is which just in case we are ever unsure. One of the many things I love about Biella socks, besides their amazing quality and beautiful colors is that they are made in the USA by happy healthy Americans making a decent working wage in safe conditions. Just last Sunday I met with our Biella rep to see the fall line, it’s as impressive as I’ve come to expect and I have ordered in a bootload of yummy choices due to arrive over a few months at the end of summer. Did I miss anything? probably, if you think of anything just leave a comment and if you’ve tried these definitely leave a comment and let us all know what you think of them!

Joining the bandwagon…

We’ve heard so much raving over the years about the EG Smith Pippy Longstocking that I felt I must finally try them when we got them in black. I had my doubts, mainly because I’m not a big fan of the EG Smith lines.Unfortunately, I find their bootsocks’ bulk tough and their tights’ stretch factor less than favorable for me. But I figured, hundreds of sock lovers must know SOMETHING, right? And they do!
When I first scrunched these on, I thought, “Oh, see, too much cotton, I need a little more elastic, etc.” I pulled them up over my knees, and though they went there with ease,

I decided scrunched was the way for me!

I slept in them this way and they kept my ankles toasty warm and were comfy as can be! They did scoot down on my foot just like the bootsocks, but I found they did it less and were generally more comfortable when they did scoot. I think fans of bulky anime-style loose socks and thick legwarmers should give these a try for sure! I’m still not converted to the EG Smith-loving side, but I’ll keep these for sleeping. ;)

In Bloom

roses are purple
violets are black
romantic budded garters
are finally back

hee hee ;)

romantic budded garters now in two colours!

let your thighs know spring is here :)

We tried them, we liked them!

Everyone at Sock Dream has been issued some of the new M Squared to try…

Mr Natosi has a rough life…
making sure your socks are shipped out on time & get to you safely is his chief concern at Sock Dreams and testing out new socks comes with the territory as does listening to me ramble on about said socks for hours as we walk along the river after work.

His first reaction to these was “they’re thin!” yes, they are “lightweight” I replied, perfect for this warm weather we should be getting anytime now…
But are they comfy? do they stay up? yes, comfy! hadn’t even tried pulling them all the way up yet though, yes, they stayed pretty well, a good sock for guys then?
yes, we think so!
I like how they look crumpled in a little pile too…

and that’s important because I’ll be seeing them that way more than on anyway, it’s like my philosophy on the importance of wines with pretty labels, but that is a conversation best had another time, let’s talk more about the M²s for now…
