ARRRRRgh…Ugly pirate wenches!

Sourpuss might have been hitting the grog a bit too hard when they called these Thigh Highs, maties…

They made OTK on me, but certainly weren’t comfortably anchored there. Due to their pattern being woven instead of screened (and apparently woven out of nonstretch materials…when will they learn?!?), these will NOT fit as wide a leg as they could (or should!). When I got them up onto my 17″ OTK region, they pinched like so:

Certainly not a good look for any lass! I shifted ‘em on down a bit, and with a bit of a wrinkle here and there, they settled much more happily just under my knees:

I still really like these socks, but I’m disappointed about their fit. They’re a great option for knee-highs or OTKS on any of you with very very small leggies, but I’d say they max out without pinching at about 15.5″, so bear that in mind when you set sail on your shopping cart.

Did I mention…

We got some new striped “thigh highs” and arm warmers from Sourpuss…
first a gripe, when are suppliers going to realize that just because it reaches the thighs it is not a “thigh high” unless it goes well up the thighs and, hopefully, stays there? I mean, I know we all have different legs and what goes to my thighs may not reach yours, but come on, if it doesn’t reach my thighs it is an over the knee at best. But these are great OTKs just the same with their black & white stripes and pink bombs (who knew bombs could be so cute?).
That said, the Sourpuss arm warmers are just about the best! They aren’t too tight at the tops or around the hands, super comfy, and I really like the style that goes around your thumb and leaves the rest of the fingers free because it is easy to slip them back to wash your hands as often as needed while still giving your hands that extra bit of warmth that really goes a long ways at this time of year. Plus, they match, did you notice? of course you did, how could you miss it? we also got them in red & black with the ugly little pirate girl that’s on the “thigh highs” that have been ridiculously popular since the day I added them to the site.
Now you know ~:)

a little Of this & a little Of that..

I have almost all the O Chevrons photographed and would like to replace several of the current images when I get caught up (cough, cough, what? me, caught up?!?~ never;) I tried the kelly greens side by side, one white, one black, they seemed to fit the same, I think I like them with black details best, but both are nice and green and make me feel like spring isn’t so far away.
I made a new thumbnail for the Ink-Lined that shows one of each side by side…

but really, there are way too many choices on that page so I think we might split them up between black & white like the O Chevrons.
I did split some of the O Basics and an O Pastel off to create the O Brights

because there were too many there too. I’m hoping for a drop down menu in a site update one of these days so that the list doesn’t run down the page. Afterall, you don’t want us to limit the choices just to control the length of the pages do you?

Another thing we talked about in the sock office last week was putting the two new Dream Striped Tubes in their own catagory. Since they both have army which is not particularly dreamy I thought maybe they should be Sock Army Tubes,
…but I’m still thinking about it.
So which pair did I like most out of all the socks I wore today?
This simple dark brown pair of O Basics, they seem extra soft & cozy and I could hardly wait to put them back on!

What’s the difference between Ms & Os?

Here it is, another weekend, but this one is different…
For the past few months we’ve been taking Saturdays off and going in with two of our fastest workers to catch up on all that has happened since we left on Friday.
Today three of them started the day and I joined them later in the morning followed by Bsti & Lola and we all left by 3 and will take Sundays off til further notice.
There are 6 of us and Lola currently. One works only one day a week, one works four, two work five, Bsti & Lola work six and I work all the time or as permitted by Lola ~;) …and those are just the “real employees”. We are also blessed with 4 sock girls who write reviews here in the journal but do not actually work for us, they place orders at least as frequently as some of our best customers, all started as some of our best customers and all get bonus socks with their orders. Plus there is Olivia, without her Sock Dreams would not be as dreamy as it is and might not look as sleek either.
So what is the difference between Ms & Os and why am I asking?
someone asked through the contact us form this week…
not a common question but not a bad one either so let’s review…
an O, as in O Basics (pictured above), O Pastels, O Marled, O Chevrons & O Woolies are all Over the knees, clever nO?
Ms are mostly thigh highs, Ribbed M Stockings, M Stripes, M40s, M43s, and Super Ms, but they also include some others~ M Bootsocks & M Booties. Why is that? because originally we only had a handful of these privately made socks and they were all M Stockings, signified by their Ms which was named for me and the supplier, we both have M names. You see, in case you didn’t already know, Niqkita is long for Niq which is short for Monique which is a variation of the name on my birth certificate and is the name I have gone by since 7th grade, I am mostly only called that by people I went to school with or have worked with…
everyone else probably calls me something different.
…and that is all I have to say about that.

Dreaming of angora this winter?

Miss Dater was so she created these fancy thigh highs.
23 inches long before putting them on and that is pretty much how high they went and stayed on my legs. Average stretch at the tops, so about 20 inches and not much more will be comfy in them. And I do think they need a gentle washing before wearing them because I found them to be a tad itchy straight out of the package.
They come in four colors including this…

Baby’s blanket cream is what they call it, it’s got little bits of pink & blue woven in.
I think I like the cranberry best, charcoal is always lovely and the robin’s egg blue is a nice light denim-y shade, quite like chambray.
Warm your toes & do a little dance because the dreams just keep coming…

Dreamy error

These just arrived today, they were supposed to be the dark green dream tubes, but the green was read as grey for the base color and here we have another brilliant mistake, one we fell in love with instantly and just might keep around or awhile.
…I’m going to work harder than ever this coming week on getting more images up for these styles, but I’m not really making any promises and there are so many that I won’t finish no matter how hard I try.
Tomorrow, some more new stuff…
off to dreamland I go…

Dreamy Stripes

sure do brighten up a dreary day!

I wore these to work under my jeans and they kept me cozy and comfy the whole day. They go over my knee and stayed there quite nicely, and I love the bubblegum color of the dark pinks combined with the black stripes. These are more than your average tube sock, but we also love them for all their tube sock-y traits, like their capability to fit any foot size and their plush terry innards! They will bag just a little at the ankle after a bit of walking, but it’s nothing I’d make a fuss over. I know some of the colors don’t yet have pics up, but Niqkita and Alicia are working just as hard as they can to get all the colors of the dreaM lines shot. In the meantime, hold your sock-horses and drool over what you imagine them to look like! ;)

Sock art!

Swussian's Sock Dream
An American friend of mine bought socks from you and linked to the site.
I went to look and got stuck for a couple of days. I was amazed at how you
covered all kinds of socks I love: sexy and warm/comfy and funny/cute!
After all looking, I got inspired and drew sockart, so I thought you’d like to
see what you have caused =)

Sourpuss cherry anklets on the left, rainbow toes on the right.
Created with colored pencils by Swussian.
If you click her link you can see her other sock inspired creations too…
So Dreamy!!!
I wonder what they are saying to eachother…

Lola Stripes!

This is Alicia’s first addition since taking over the Dream Stocking section.
Lola Super Stripes
They were, of course, inspired by Lola
…and though the shades don’t match her exactly they are lovely together…

I wore them over my MP cotton lined wool tights and they not only stayed up super well, they also kept me super warm even in the chilly air wearing a slinky skirt that kept Bsti distracted for most of his shift in shipping that day.
Lola found them to be absolutely snuggle-able!

My Checkered Past

Before there was Vel, before the uber long bleach blonde hair, before the shocking pink streaks, before the pink bedroom, the purple living room, before Sock Dreams (gasp!!) ….. There was the 80’s and there were the funky checkerboards.

A little shaved area of my head (that later became a whole shaved side) made a cool canvas for bleaching on a taxicab checkerboard design. Getting it done was an event, and my good friend (with a steady hand and a six pack of beer) was always willing to oblige turning funky ideas into reality (below you can see how she used to draw it on with eyeliner before painting on the bleach). My room even had checkerboards (the row surrounding the room was made by cutting electrical tape into 1″ squares). I can’t believe I still have these pictures… And I can’t believe how I just tore my living room apart to find them ;OP

When I first saw these Checkered arm warmers I was transported back to the days of my checkerboard head and my little room… I absolutely would have worn these to death back then. They are so totally truly 80’s it just floors me. These days you see so many 80’s “retro” items, but with most of them, well… Fact is… If they had been for sale back then they just wouldn’t have sold. These would have sold out.

These make me wanna put on big black and white dangly geometric earrings (next to three pairs of vintage rhinestones of course) and tease my hair into spikes with a can of aquanet… I wanna put on two dozen O ring bracelets, black lipstick and listen to echo and the bunnymen while I’m getting ready for a night out at Danceteria.

They feel great on, and have good stretch for larger arms making it just beyond my elbow in length (yet they will roll down to the elbow joint just a bit). I do wish that they had just a tad more hand coverage, and that the little thumb area matched the rest of the warmer a bit better (most won’t even notice that, I’m just being picky). My favorite thing about these is that the checkerboard is made with rows of black and white stripes sewn together lengthwise… So much nicer than the whole thing just being printed on.The Checkerboard arm warmers are just so much fun… And if you’re not old enough to share my trip down memory lane here, just put these cuties on and make some new ones. You can’t help but have fun with them on your arms :O)
