Bonjour Antoinette!

trs bon!

the gorgeous Antoinette Knee Highs in creamy over sky blue O Pastels

Out of the three colours these stretch the least (just barely making it to my knee) and are tightest around the top, the red stretch the most (up to middle of my knee) and the black are somewhere in-between. They did slip down a little, probably because the O Pastels slipped. I found them hard to pull up when my nails were super long, it was much easier with shorter nails. The ties were so cute and stayed put even after the extreme carpet burn they must have received while I was photo-ing.

What can I say? I love them :) I think you will too ;) …. But don’t hold me to that statement ;) lol

Just my luck….

Long Knit Gloves with Arm Warmer Overlay By Renee’s Accessories
If there is a flaw to be found in something new it’ll be in a pair I try…
this one has an itsy bitsy hole in the purple part right near the top, I don’t think it’ll get worse, but this is not the pair I wanted ~:( Other than that I found these to be quite snug around the fingers. Putting them on, taking them off, then putting them back on made them more comfortable, but larger hands may never get comfy in these which is sad because they are such a great idea. You can wear the gloves & arm warmers seperately and they fit better, but together they need to be stretched out a bit. You can wear them any which way you want~ long or scrunched, long & scrunched or cuffed and you could even mix & match the colors by buying multiple pairs ~with 5 color combos there are many options.

Dreamy gloves

Several months ago at the Portland Shoe Show I was walking out of the room of our Hot Sox rep after picking out many new styles when I spotted a little box under a table. “Are those gloves?” I asked. “Yes, are you interested in gloves?” she replied.
…if they look like that I am!
Super soft, angora wool blend, with pretty ribbons lacing them up, how could I resist? I quickly tried a pair on, perfect fit and so comfy! no itch at all and they do not have to be laced each time you wear them. Plus, that lacing gathers the glove so that you end up with a triple layer just along the tops of the hands which I found to be a perfect bit of extra warmth. I ordered a dozen of each of the four colors which should last us a little while. I need to find out if we can order more, I assume we can, but have been wrong before. There were more in that box, one has already been added, the rest will be added by tomorrow…

Much to do…

Since this was the first full weekend we’ve taken off in the past 5 years there will be much to do today. Many orders to print & pull, many letters to reply to. No doubt several people did not get their orders for one reason or another & have written for tracking info, so we’re sure to be busily catching up all day long…
How I loved having a full weekend free!!! I was able to take many pictures and am most excited about the new gloves above, and the Biellas are as wonderful as they looked! all will be added as quickly as I can over the coming evenings/mornings…
Now to head out into the rain to get to work…

Quick Christmas post

before I take a quick Christmas nap! Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? Well, we’ve got something for you (even if you’re not):

Snowflake Garters! I’m wearing them here with the white Sparkly Fishnet Thigh Highs, although they’ll do well with any socks or stockings knee-high or over-the-knee, especially light-colored ones. We have them in black, too, in case you like your winters at night. The white have two alternating snowflakes, four on each garter, and the black have four of the same pattern. All three kinds of snowflakes have iridescent shine and all the garters have iridescent sparkles for that extra winter cheer! They’re adjustable to fit below the knee or above, roughly 13″ and 17″, respectfully. Not liable for damage done to garters during snow-angeling. ;) Now off to that nap.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and I’m not a grouch…

See, just take a look at my nice Christmas slouch (socks, that is)!

They’re comfy and pretty, their color is bold; they do keep my feeties from getting too cold. I toss and I turn but they stay and don’t bicker, not to mention these new ones are decidedly thicker! I’m wearing the pair that is BBQ Red, but we’ve so many colors you could wear instead. We’ve fuschia and yellow, teal, grey, royal blue, lavender, black and a minty green hue. Whether slouching or standing, these socks are so nice, and at only $5 you could buy them twice! So, with socks on our feet and gifts in our arms, we wish you joy, love, and fun… and feet that are warm! Happy Holidays, everyone!

What’s in the box?

Here’s a glimpse of what I’ve been holding onto til after the holidays…
a little start to the fabulous Biella line (in addition to their baby socks that I added last week). These are absolutely some of the nicest socks & leg warmers my toes have ever touched! I’ve been holding off on them because we didn’t have enough to cover the mad ordering that was going on. I’ll be taking most of this weekend “off” which will leave me a little extra time to photograph these and some other goodies…
I hope all of you are staying sane even if those around you are not…
!!!!!!!!!!Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!!

Denial of Service Attack

One of the first things I did this morning when I got up was log in to check the journal only to find that the site wouldn’t load. I quickly logged onto our server to find out what was going on and saw the following message on our hosts site:
12-22-2005 07:04:56
We are currently experiencing a major DOS attack to our backbone network. All our sys admins are aware of the issue and are working on filters to stop the attack. This has been going on since approximately 5:30am (PST), and we hope to have the issue resolved very soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

This attack was not aimed at us, but at our host and affected many sites besides this one. What a rotten thing to do to everyone right before the big holidays! hopefully it won’t happen again anytime soon and I can assure you that we are here working to get each and every order out as quickly as we can.
I saw another depressing thing on the news right after I read the note above. People driving through neighborhoods looking for packages on porches to steal. I cannot stress enough the importance of mail security, we don’t require signatures unless requested to (though we did have a little mishap in stamping last week that caused several people to unexpectedly have to sign for their packages). We hear all too often from people who have not received their orders despite their postal carrier scanning it on delivery. Mail security is everyone’s responsibility, we do what we can from our end, but we cannot possibly be there to guard your socks til you open your door. Even if you live in a good neighborhood there are thieves somewhere nearby that could easily drive right up to your house and take what is not rightfully theirs.
Bah Humbug to those who do such misdeeds to others!

Warmer thighs

These plaid tights are great for layering with a wool skirt and some leg warmers.
Or for wearing under jeans to help keep the chill out like I did today, but I liked them best with the skirt so I could show them off. It was really cold Monday when I wore them with the skirt, snow on the ground and freezing rain. A perfect day to test them out! no, they didn’t completely block the cold on their own, but they did make it more bearable. And when I pulled my leg warmers up a bit higher it was perfect for short jaunts outside. I have sad news about the brown Chinese Laundry leg warmers I’m wearing above. We cannot get them anymore ~:( we can still get several of their other colors and I have another large order on its way, but many of their items are already gone. I look forward to seeing what they have to offer us next!
But I digress, back to my plaid tights..

I thought the new cherry garters were an excellent accent to them, and when I was wearing the leg warmers I used the shimmery new snowflake garters to help them stay at or above my knees (depending on how cold I was at the time). I chose the A-B which is the smaller of the two because I am in that weight range but am just outside the height and sure enough, the legs are a tad short, but still completely comfortable. The only thing I didn’t like about them are the oversized toes…

not too bad in shoes with minor adjustments, but I think I’ll try resewing them one of these long winter evenings.

Never Been A Ballerina

I’m just not that graceful… or athletic for that matter… and I never dressed up as a ballerina for halloween. but I could pretend wearing the Ballerina Thigh Highs

These are more of an over the knee on me, sorry I didn’t illustrate that very well in the photos. the socks are very stretchy but they might dig into the leg a little at the top if you have larger legs…. so as I was saying… them coming just over the knee, I tied the ribbons under my knee.

Niqkita had a hard time with the ribbons on these staying up tied over the knee for more than two steps, but under the knee I found they stayed up for about 20 minutes, and that was down and up the stairs and climbing up on the bed. Maybe something like a double sided tape that is material safe, like the kind people use to stick their dresses to their skin to prevent gown mishaps ;) would work to keep the ribbon up longer, I fear that regular tape would discolour the ribbon with the acidic adhesive. The ribbons are so glossy and satiny (they blew out on the photos and look white in some places oops) and the aqua is such a nice colour.

all in all they are cute but not practical, kind of like me ;)
