Babylon reviews the Multistripe Thigh Highs

I found the sheer multi stripe thigh highs to be considerably more black than the manufacturer picture shows, which is good, I like black ;) but these are very delicate, I got a teensy snag just putting them on which is not so good, but to be expected being so sheer and light. I think that they will stay up pretty well without a garter belt but by all means wear one for looks ooo saucy! the stripeys sat 3/5 the way up my thigh (19.5″ circumference) I’m fairly long legged (approx. 33″ from the bottom of my heel to my crotch) so they shouldn’t be too long for the average person (not that there are any) ;)

… and here are some photos taken on a 8 thousand pound digital rebel XT with enormo-flash and equally large lens lol it weighed a lot ;)

I think I acquired carpal tunnel using it lol o_O

Alpaca!!!!!!!!

According to ancient Incan legend, alpacas were loaned to humans on Mt. Ausangate in Peru, left on earth as long as they were treated well and respected.

The alpaca is renown for its exceptional fleece and is considered by the fashion world to be one of the most exclusive. The fleece is prized for its softness (comparable to mohair), fineness (it is a no itch fiber), and strength( stronger and lighter weight that sheeps wool).

Considered to be a relatively rare specialty fiber, alpaca fleece production is limited in the US and Canada to date because of the comparably small numbers of animals in North America, hence its lofty price. Luckily we came across these super cozy blended alpaca socksthat give the benefits of warmth and softness with out the hefty price that accompanies many a full fibered sock.

These blended alpaca socks have adorned my feet all day, and I think I might have to splurge and get more of these in all the wonderful colors…

The are very light weight- so fit easily under a fancier shoe- yet still kept my toes toasty on one of the coldest windiest days we have had so far. Alpaca is also well known for how dry it keeps your feet, even through a sweaty slog, so that makes these great for hiking as well… that testing I will leave for another day when the weather is a little less blustery.

Monochromatically Cozy

Rain has brought a chill to the air here, so I geared up in my new black and grey striped U.S. Arm Warmers (which perfectly match my sweater) and grey heather Chinese Laundry Flat Knit Leg Warmers! I also picked up the December/January issue of JANE magazine to get a peek at the Sock-Dreams blurb on page 48!

There I am, engrossed. ;)

Meanwhile, the arm warmers were a big snug, but mostly snuggly (I have a 6″ wrist and 9″ forearms; I don’t think larger arms would fare well in these), and the new leg warmers stretched ALL THE WAY over my big buckle-y boots and cords! They kept all breezes at bay and looked mighty stylish, iff’n I do say so myself. ;) Not being a big fan of leg warmers in general, I occasionally see fit to add a pair to my wardrobe, and I would highly recommend these for fall and winter!

Mucho gracias to cYn for being such a great photographer and bravely belly-flopping onto chilly concrete to get the good shots. :)

Furry!

Sock inspector Lola came bursting into the room when she caught wind that there was something furry in the air. She sniffed them up one side & down the other til she was satisfied that they weren’t going to cause any trouble. So with her enthusiastic approval I now present the Hot Sox Furcuffed Booties. Four colors, all lined with a soft knit layer that makes them extra comfy & warm, topped with faux fur in four different colors, some sillier than others, all of them unique. This is one of many limited items I’ll be adding in the coming weeks, small bits of this and that brought in just for holiday gift giving and winter warming. The goal in the coming month is to sell out of lots of stuff so we don’t have so much to count come New Years ~;)

You knew they were good for your eyes…

but did you know they looked great on your toes?

Yes, that’s right, the Sock it to Me Carrots!!! I went ahead and ordered based on their carrotness itself, and look how cute they are! These are the first Sock it to Me items that I’ve tried, and they’re very nice and carroty…er, I mean, comfy! ;) They easily fit my large feet and made it all the way up to my knees, no problems. They seem to have excellent stay-up power, too, while not being too constricting. And did I mention that they have CARROTS on them? ;)

Quick, like sock-bunnies, buy some! ;D

Spoil Yourself…

Or someone you love with our lovely Arlequins!

Yes, we still have some, how many I do not know, but when they’re gone there shall be no more, *sniff*. The fit and quality of these can’t be beat, and while they won’t easily fit larger calves, they did make it onto my size 12 feet and over my knees!

These were comfy scrunched down while staying warm at home, and stylish pulled up to run my errands! With their large diamonds and thin horizontal knee-stripes, these would look adorable peeking out of the tops of winter’s boots or a nice pair of legwarmers. Plus, the gorgeous black and bordeaux are both wonderful winter staples in a pattern that’s anything but ordinary! Take this opportunity to buy a gorgeous higher-end pair of unique socks for yourself or as a gift!

So on this turkeyest of pre-psycho shopping days, what are you thankful for? I’m thankful for life, health, home, family, friends, pets, love, getting spared by the hurricane(s), all the wonderful words and things and actions in the world and having the chance to share with all of you thanks to Sock-Dreams!

Three more from Chinese Laundry ~
one I love, one I like, one I don’t…

These sweeties are called Antoinette Knee Highs and I adore them! if I did not own a sock business and saw these for sale I’d buy them in a second! and the best part is that I was not one bit disappointed when I tried them on, they go on with ease, the netting around the feet is finer so your toes stay put, the tops aren’t too tight yet they totally stay up (the stretch is good so I think most of us can wear these), the ties are stretchy and start at the backs of the ankles just above the heels so you can wrap them up & around and tie them pretty much anywhere you want and if for any reason you don’t want them they could easily & safely be cut off. The black has been selling really well since I added them yesterday, but the cream & red are really pretty too, it’s not a super bright red, berriest is its name and it’s just right! I already have more on order and have been told the supply should hold out, I’m also trying to convince the woman with the sexy voice at Chinese Laundry to get these made in a thigh high for us! She says the designer isn’t so sure it will work, but I think it will…

Tie Front Thigh Highs are soft stretchy socks that pulled right up and stayed up nicely without digging in, the satin ribbons are attached at the backs and tie up pretty in the front. The ribbon is not stretchy, I think that would be a plus but since they aren’t required for keeping the socks up it works out okay, they fell just a bit, maybe if I tied them tighter they’d stay higher, either way they are darned cute and remind me of the cute garters EG made me many months ago. I look forward to hearing from those of you who have bought these, we sold quite a few today and I just added them last night.

The Ballerina Thigh HIghs looked so adorable when I first put them on! Wow, I thought I was in love, I ran back out into the cold to take some pictures, but as soon as I got out and looked down they were at my knees! I tried to pull them back up but had to untie them, rewrap & retie, took some cute shots for their page, took a couple more steps to grab my camera off the tripod and down they went so I shot the picture above. I’m sure they could be pinned up so I went ahead and added them to the site with my stern warning and did not sell a pair all day. I think if they had stretchy ribbons they would totally work and I’m hoping that I am just totally missing something. When I called in my order for more of their fantastic leg warmers and more of the wondrous Antoinettes we discussed this issue, she is going to call me back after the designer explains how they are meant to work.

Keeping with the leg warmer theme…

It was freezing here today with 35mph winds, but at least I stayed warm from the knees down with the nordic leg warmers tucked in my boots. They have a good amount of stretch…they fit really nicely with room to spare. I liked the looser fit with much scrunch-ability potential. The multicolored stripes are beautiful up close in person. With the variety of colors they can pretty much be worn with anything…but I like letting my socks or leg warmers be the focal point. These seemed to really catch people’s eye.

I usually hate the colder weather, but with such great products coming in to keep me warm, I’m welcoming the winter this year :D

Leg Warmers five ways til tomorrow

1. Solid colored, flat knit ribs, frilly bottoms, 19 inches long, very stretchable cuffs that go over jeans as well as they went over fishnets. I actually found them to be very practical for keeping every bit of chill from sneaking under my pantlegs around my boots, plus they match my new sweater (pictures of the sweater not provided, use your imagination:) I’m told this is an ongoing item that we should easily be able to restock.

2. yes two, finally we have some striped leg warmers again! this time in two colors choices, I’m really enjoying the light shades like these lately, I’m not sure what it is but I find them soothing. We also have black & red, hopefully they will add more soon too, if they do we will! Also 19 inches long.

3. Three tones striped all the way down these, my favs were actually the blue, hanging form a branch with a clear chilly sky in the background, but these remind me of flowers, they are flowery shades, that reminds me of spring which is too far away to think about right now. Same length & width as above and also come in browns.

4. They are called party stripes and I think they do look like a party with their orange trim and confetti stripes, they are really pretty! and could be coerced into stretching a bit further than they first appear, what is it they remind me of? something woven….

5. and finally, these 5 stripes only come one way and look great doing it!
All of these can be worn long or scrunched down and have the frilly edges, see the rest of the information about them on their links and be sure to let us know here in comments how you like them when you try yours!

I’m never taking them off

The chenille arm warmers are my favorite new accessory. They’re as soft and warm as they are cute. I had to stop myself from constantly touching them…they’re just sooo cuddly. Personally I like them because I shoot photos outside when it’s cold, and even some fingerless gloves make it harder to work the camera, but these were lightweight enough without sacrificing my warmth. The ends of them kind of hug your fingertips to keep the rest of your fingers warm. I can pull them up just below my elbows but they look really sweet scrunched up at the wrist, too. I barely take them off as it is. I’m probably going to have to stock up for when I wear these out :)
