On the table

more than the eye can see...
More than meets the eye really, but here goes, from the lower right side…
Some new nylon InkLined colors, above them on the right edge of the table is the first of the latest update to our M40 version 3, AKA M43s, we shortened the ribbed section because the main point of the ribbing was the added stretch which the spandex now gives us all the way down the legs. Beside those is a new tri striped OTK and Pink Knees with rose, a few new goodies from Foot Traffic including pink/orange “camel” argyle leg warmers, footless fishnets & Soho stockings, arm warmers with checkers & spider webs, new colors of EG Smith heathered tights and space dyed socklings, Cherry garters (in production now), under them are two more fancy garment bags for washing you fancy garments in, neon fishnet gloves, Jack’O'lantern socks! ~actually these were a mistake, but what the heck, they’re cute so we’ll sell them, a few more Leg Avenue items and that Shag Sock in the middle is just a tease of the many new wonderful socks in boxes off to the left!
And why am I behind right now?
Well, as I’ve mentioned, I’ve been searching for a new place to move Sock Dreams to, and as I’ve hinted, I have indeed found that place! The lease has been signed, but the keys will not be handed over til Thursday. Til then, and for a few weeks after, I have a ton of things on my mind and a ton more to do. My plan is to make this a smooth move that the average customer won’t even notice and we will find the time & energy to get more of these socks/ect photographed and added between now & then. More details to come…
I wasn't sure which month it would happen, but this has been written on the BIG calender on the wall all year...

How long are your Longsocks?

Mine happen to be 200 inches of baby blue bliss.

While we currently only stock the 200 inch longsocks in whites ( know as the Great Whites here in sockdreams land),I was desperate to have a pair in my favorite pale blue hue and with the foot size a tad smaller to fit my little tootsies perfectly. I begged and pleaded with our supplier. These long socks are extremely difficult and time consuming to produce, but they were more than willing to grant my socky wishes.

So the question now is: Would anyone be interested in colors in the 100 inch and 200 inch longsocks and if so, what colors? We are think about adding the sky blue, black and pink to the site for sure, but only in 4 pairs of each.

It’s also possible to get a pair made in whatever color and foot size you would want, but this option will only be available if you email me ( xilia@sock-dreams.com ) and order your pair before we put in our restocking order in the second week in October. Be sure to include the color you want, your shoe size, and wether its 100 or 200 inch socks you wanted. There will also be an additional $10 for the special order as it takes the supplier time and effort to change out the yarn for one pair of socks-usually they end up making many dozens of a certain color. This will most likely be your only chance to have your very own made to order sock until next year.

My head is swimming with all the pretty colors I want to add to my collection!

As you can see from the pics these 200 inch longsocks are super dooper long!

Its amazing how many people will order long socks only to write and exclaim “I did not realize they were THAT long”. SO if you get these be prepared. Its a feat getting them on, but I have figured out that if you scrunch the sock up first and slip in your foot(like putting on hosiery)its ever so much easier.

Once adorned, you can wear them in loose wrinkles all the way up ( or in my chubby legged case as far up as they would go, which even though its not to the tops of my 26 inch wide thighs I think is still ridiculously cute).

Or, as I prefer, like little leg warmers with the top being smooth and the wrinkles sitting around the ankle area.

I have already been wearing these on the cooler nights and find they don’t overheat me , but also keep me cozy. I can’t wait for the winter. Throw on a pair of super soft EG smith Solid or Space Dyed cotton tights under those delicious wrinkles and I will be warm and cozy as well as be able to wear my cute skirts ALL winter long!!!!! Woo hoo! :)

Site updates

Just one area of our current sock room
We got this email yesterday, unfortunately, it didn’t have a complete email address so I’m unable to respond directly and I thought more people might be wondering the same thing so here it is followed by my response…
Hello there :-)
First of all I would like to tell you that I love your site. When I get the chance to sign on, I come here and spend a lot of time looking at everything here in your page. The reason I am Emailing you is because I just wanted to know how often you update your site- is it every Friday or every other week? or do you just update when ever you want? Well thats all. Thank you for taking the time to read this :-)
~Alayna~

The easy answer is that we update it whenever we want or need to.
As everyone who reads the journal surely knows, we often update this page each and every day, though we occasionally miss a day or two.
I usually add new items at least once a week, though due to some stuff that is going on right now I am a bit behind (I can hardly wait to tell you why!!!), having only added one new item last week and nothing yet this week (we have the stuff, just need to find the time & energy to photograph & add them in), this can happen at any time of any day, there is never a set day or time.
If we run out of something I deactivate it on the site just as fast as I can.
…And that brings up another question I get asked once in awhile, why do we leave stuff on the site after we run out? because even if something is gone forever I like to leave it on the site (with the out of stock note where the option to add it to the basket usually would be) so that if someone saw it previously and has come back to buy it they can still find it and read that it is gone or will not come back which *should* save them from having to take the time to write us and ask why they can no longer find it on the site.
When stuff comes back in stock I reactivate it just as soon as I know it is in the building, this too can happen anytime of anyday.
And finally, for technical updates (the stuff I can’t do with the click of a button), they happen when Olivia & I can coordinate a time & a plan & a budget, the next one is going to be some minor additions I’ve requested and may happen in the next week or so ~it will not include the shopping cart this time, maybe next time, but will include the thingsiwant.com information for wishlist features, an improvement to the FAQ page that I hope will cut down on the amount of times I get asked those same questions every week, stats/info pages for each of the official Sock Journalers and a couple other helpful tidbits here and there ~:)

Devious bridesmaid

I’m leaving for an out of town wedding tonight. All the bridesmaids were provided with the same hosiery, but of course, I have to deviate from the crowd and sneak a pair of super stripe knee highs under my dress :) Personally I think they look a lot better with it than plain white tights! The loose fit is really nice and the lilac & brown is such a sweet combo. Good socks for sleeping in, too. Now, if only I could get away with wearing my combat boots under the dress…

Approved by Fidalgo

Fidalgo insisted that I got some socks that didn’t clash with his fur for when I take him for walks (yeah, he really does think he’s a dog and loves walking on a leash around town!). He approved of the multi striped knee highs and was very pleased with how well the browns went with his fur, the sage brought out his eyes and the maroon accented his nose. I was pretty happy with them too. They fit my foot nicely though didn’t quite make it to my knee. But they stayed up great and were lightweight enough to be comfy. Cute girl wearing cute socks with a cute cat on a leash, oh yes, me and Fidalguito were loving the attention

Everything is just ducky!

This *has* to make you smile!
Another gorgeous submission by Maryfaery!
I have to admit, I was a toe sock virgin before I tried the Feelmax over the knee toe socks. I never liked the idea of confining my little toes to separate pockets, but I fell in love with the yellow & orange stripes and had to get them. They went on easily over my knee, and after a little negotiating all my toes were in place. I *loved* how nice the material felt between my toes when I was walking around. I was impressed by how well they stayed up above my knee. I didn’t have to tug them back up once. They’re definitely as functional as they are fashionable…I wore them when I went out running the other day and they kept my feet totally dry and I was considerably less sore and I had no icky blisters (not to mention they stayed up for the whole two miles).

But I’m easily to please…
I was thrilled for the mere fact that they matched my beloved ducky :)

Technical difficulties

The shopping cart appears to be back in action!!!
…and after only a half hour down during prime business hours.
Sorry if it caused anyone trouble! if you still can’t place an order please let us know and we’ll take care of you one way or another. Also, confirmations don’t seem to be going out now, orders are completing but none of the usual emails are going out about them, another call has been placed and all orders will be filled. If you need to check if an order you placed this afternoon was received use the contact page & include the name you ordered as or the order number (not the authorization number). I won’t be checking or responding to emails again til tomorrow morning, I’m practicing not being such a workaholic. Why? because it has recently come to my attention that I can actually get more done in less time when I’m not trying to work every waking hour of the day ~:)

Happy Monday!

rainbow otk socks alla Maryfaery
Here’s to dreaming of cooler weather…
with thanks to Maryfaery & her rainbow otks!

Haught Daze

too hot for socks, I wish I was at the beach right now!
yes it’s true, I succumbed to illness Saturday having awoken at 5 am with a 99.9°F fever and swollen glands. I got up and relocated to the downstairs futon where I could toss, turn, sniffle, cough, take my temperature, drink tons of juice and watch tv.
Lola loyally stayed at my side while I slept off and on for the next many hours. My temp dropped as I continued to nap and rest and I had one of those rare days where I didn’t so much as look at a computer, let alone do any work. Today I am feeling much better but not completely so. It’s so dreadfully hot, but really, I think it is better to be like this in the heat than in the cold. When it cools down a bit more this evening I’ll try to catch up on the weekends orders and maybe get an item or two added, I have several sitting upon my table and many more due in the coming weeks. In between sleeps the past few daze I’ve had some lovely epiphanies and am really excited about the coming months, but that is all I’m going to tell you because we’re going to see about taking a little walk and see if that helps bring me back to normalcy.
I love you all, well, most of you ~;) Thanks infinity for coming here and talking about socks, critters, clothing and life, it means more to me than you can imagine!!!

Sharp Combo…get it? get it?? ;P

Being mostly a homebody, I occasionally have a decent reason to go out to a bar, and I take full advantage of my costume closet-like wardrobe and many many many types of socks and hosiery. Recently, I tromped around in this trio:

It’s a pair of the oh-so-comfy Two Tone Lycra Fishnet Pantyhose in Black and Red, with Bright Red Longsocks (out of stock and unlikely to be seen again) and a pair of black Spiked Sock Garters. I was much more comfortable in my shorts than I would’ve been in a skirt or dress, plus I had POCKETS. teehee. And how do you dress up shorts? with nifty leg-cessories. *knowing nod* Besides the fact that the pantyhose made me feel that I had all my assets covered ;), they were cute and comfy, never pinching or pulling or sliding around. The socks looked nice all scrunched into my boots (grab a pair of O Basics for a similar effect), and the garters held them up wonderfully and looked snazzy, if I do say so myself. ;)

So if you’re going out tonight, remember: be safe, be smart, and don’t let those skirts have all the fun!
