In Love….

…with these-
Fingerless Fishnet Gloves !!!!

Another snazzy valentines idea!!!!

Very cute style with teeny tiny lace trim on the tops and bottoms.

They add a nice touch to any outfit and would look smashing paired with the topless fishnet stockings

Like me, this post is short and sweet!:)-

Sock thoughts at midnight….

I was thinking about the post I want to do tomorrow on the E.G. Smith Pippi Longstockings… I was thinking that they are a pair of my favorite socks… which led me to thinking about other favorite things… which in turn started me on how fun-comfy socks really have become favorite things to me… Then thinking of favorite socks, I thought about how great those bunny socks looked and what a wonderful present fun pretty socks would be for a valentine…

Then it dawned on me…

It used to be that when asked about a gift, the dreaded answer to “what did you get?” was SOCKS!?!?!
We’ve come so far! Yay!!
silly rabbit… socks are great gifts!!! :o)
or…. silly, rabbit socks are great gifts!!!… tee hee

sorry, couldn’t resist…

Xilia’s purple shells

OK so I promised to have some valentines posts leading up to the actual day… and I do have some ready to go… only I have fallen in love!

Niq and I were shopping for supplies at the fabric store when out of the corner of my eye I spied the most dazzling little buttons….I desperately wanted a pair made into sock garters to wear with my Lilac and natural M-srtipes and thought that some of you lovelies out there in sock land would love to have some to.. I made doey eyed pleas to Niq, and so were born the VERY limited (as in 2 pairs aside from the one pair I snaffled) edition purple shell sockgarters ! We will try and see about getting more of these, but with specialty buttons you can never know if you will see them again. :(

The buttons are acrylic with a shiny mother of pearl shell look to them… As in nature, they feature an irregular pattern, adding even more to their unique quality. Colors dance in the light with every move. Another nice feature with these is they are a little longer… at 25 inches they will fit a lusher thigh or if you have little teeny thighs they can be cut to size! Anyone will so love these!!!!!!!

Happy Bunny socks

(((soft pink angora love)))
We just got a freshly made batch of Orkney Angora socks in…
as you may or may not know, these are made in small batches for us far north in the chilly Orkney Islands of Scotland where they know a thing or two about staying warm. This is an item I feel so strongly about that I choose to carry it despite it’s high price, I don’t even mark it up much above our cost, plus we pay for the shipping to us, then we ship it to you for free (unless you aren’t in the US or choose a premium shipment). Since they cost alot and take awhile to get I only choose a few colors each time, there are the standards~ black & ivory/natural, that I try to always have as well as charcoal & chocolate, I’m quite fond of the blackberry. This time I added the lovely Cerise (now available in ankle, knee & OTK lengths), seen above, it is a beautiful pink with no hint of orange/peachyness.
I also chose light bottle green for OTK’s
notice the detail on the sides where the width increases...
and the slightly darker bottle green for knee highs
just a slightly deeper brighter green
which I also got in Ruby red…
detail of the heel stitches
Sadly, the pair I picked had several dropped stitches, I don’t think it’ll hurt them, especially not if I tie them off with some more yarn, but I certainly cannot sell this pair now can I?
dropped stitches make for sad toes ~:(
Any of these would make very thoughtful Valentine’s gifts for your sweetie
…unless he or she has allergies!
One last note about these, they have no elastic in them, none, so if you are looking to avoid it this is wonderful news, if you want these to stay up you will have to use sock garters, I highly recommend my handmade button up version for this style, they come in plain or fancy and add a nice touch to the gift of warm toes ~:)

Seafoam lighter knit M40’s

Seafoam green… The thought of the color congers up memories of bridesmaids dresses, and 50’s decor. I did a search on the color and found that it is used in color healing (Eighth ray………Seafoam Green / Violet luminosity), various color frequency ideas, and some really interesting color related chakra work. It’s latest and cutest use however, is right here… as Seafoam green is being used in the new lighter knit M40’s.

Being a big fan of the regular M40’s, I was thrilled to try these out. There are several differences to note for us larger legged sock lovers. The regular black M40’s were snug on my calves, these lighter knit M40’s are a bit larger in the calf area as they slid on me with ease. I expected the lighter/ loser seeming knit to have more give, and therefore the calves were not a surprise, but I was surprised to find that these socks were actually more snug than the regular M40’s in other places. I wonder if this is a variance of the color? The feet were a bit too small for me, and although width wise they stretched with wear, the length never got long enough for my size 11’s. (but with my shoes on, you would never know). The real surprise was that the top knit portion (the long ribbed part that makes the excellent cuff), well.. it was more snug and less forgiving than the black M40’s. The Seafoam max width seemed to be 26″ at the tippy top of the sock pulled snuggly. (the black M40’s pulled up without effort to 27″)They both reached to my upper thighs uncuffed. Personally though, I never wear them that way (just my own pet peeve about two different knits and the way it looks). Speaking of the two different knits… the section for the cuff begins immediately at the top of my knee. I do wish these could be a few inches longer in lower leg knit, so they would clear my knee and I could cuff them perfectly at the appropriate over the knee length. Honestly though… even the way the knit is now they still look really cute, and I am sure that if you have a little less height or a little less calf than me, that they will fall in the perfectly right place.

The lower leg part stretches a bit with wear and does this cute little loose fold thing (I love this… makes your legs look littler i think). These stayed up well, and after some active wear they sort of settled in with the cuff right on my knee and stayed there (like an extra long knee high).

I wasn’t sure how this color would fit in my wardrobe. Thought maybe these were destined to be stay at home sockies only to be worn with vintage slips and nighties. I was so surprised to see how well it went with green plaids, white lace, and even with my eggplant colored shoes. The color really goes with more things than you would think.

Seafoam… the new black?
Nope.
But really cute anyway!

Inspected / Approved and licked by sock inspector Vel :O)

time for orange!

The over the knee stripes and skins were one of the first socks with which I fell in love here at Sock Dreams. For anyone interested, the first were the longsocks. Back then, these Over-the-knee cuties were available in Black and Grey as well, but those colors have gone the way of all discontinued things–they got discontinued. So I tried orange. Orange and grey, though not the best color combo, are great for those days when I’m feeling just a tad…off. :) I wore these to work on just such a day recently.

These fit me well even though their stretch is limited, and they make perfect OTKs on me, too! I love the little doesn’t-really-look-like-leopard-print tops!

They’re comfy and fun and look great on top of the stripes, especially peeking out from underneath another pair of socks, scrunched down under boots. However, I decided to try them with regular sneakers, and I loved the look!

The Shipping Guy

One cold wintry evening while prepping sock orders,
I chose to wear the walnut brown ribbed M Stockings.

Warm and cozy, plenty of room for a wider foot like mine.
They go all they way up, though I tend not to wear them that way as they can be a little tight, even on my slender guy-legs.

Not uncomfortably so, not consticting, I just prefer my legs have “breathing room” when working or hanging around the home. Outside, I’d wear them all the way up with shorts, maybe a kilt and boots.

I like to wear them a bit below the knee, scrunched, or a bit higher depending on what I’m wearing.
I think alot of men would like these. Great colors, lots of foot room, and versatility.

Perfect for kicking back and watching our Sock Goddess at work!

Valentines?!!!!!Bah humbug..;)

As a single gal, Valentines seems trite to me
(though I secretly love the holiday I can’t possibly admit I feel I am missing out :)- )
So I will indulge myself with my two true loves..
Photography and socks!!!!

If you do have a lover or friend out there you should most definitely treat them this February 14 with something sexy and spicy or warm, cozy, and comforting-

Like SOCKS!!!!!!

Over the next 2 weeks I will be featuring an item every few days that have a valentinesy feel…

On the 14th I will post the layered complete picture as my vanlentine to all you sock lovers out there!

Today I wanted to start with the spiked garters. These sexy little numbers come in black, pink, and red, but for my design I have chosen the red. They fit wonderfully and are really comfy when on. I must admit that the first time I saw these I was wary of wearing them ( I mean come on…. SPIKES!!!!YIKES!!!!!), but the way they are designed by our lovely Shelloperd makes them sit on the leg in such a way that you don’t even notice the spikes are even there, unless you should happen to glance down. I was only going to borrow a pair for shooting, but have now decided to keep the red pair and also get the ones in black! These garters really make a statement and I can’t wait to wear them out!

In todays picture I wore them over the red and white M-Stripes. I had gotten these for christmas as a candy cane feel, but they went so nicely with the garters I could not resist bringing them back out…. I love seasonal overlapping of style!!!!!

Love is in the air

Another great original!
Snappy Heart Garters
When Shelleopard sent me a pair of these to try I fell in love…
the hearts are such a sweet touch to these snappy garters.
I think they look fabulous with the vertical striped thigh highs, I think they’d look pretty fab with any thigh highs actually and they are just in time for the holiday of love, Valentine’s Day…
Watch for more great VD ideas in the days to come…
