Every bit as fabulous as the first three…

vertical stripes in uber hot red & black
Same great construction on these uber sexy thigh highs/over the knees…
the red & black are sewn together to make perfectly spaced vertical stripes.
We’re currently out of the black and white because they’ve been selling even better than I expected (and I knew they were going to do well!).
Next week we should be fully back in stock, or will we?
I’ve been adding photos tonight, most of what I mentioned yesterday is now up
except the O Marled, I’ll feature them Monday…
Sunday is saved for Shelleopard’s 1 year anniversary post!!!

My table runneth over…

New colors!!!
yes, I was nearly caught up with the last batch…
now more are here & ready to get their pictures taken…
We’ve got two new Green Knees
four new M Bootsocks
Red & black vertical stripes(!!!)
3 samples of new marled colors…
Super Marled are fully stocked in the 4 current choices…
the ribbed OTK version just arrived!!!
EG Smith tights arrived in Honey sun & heather forest
Socklings in a beautiful bright purple & two new space dyeds
and, the purple ribbed M Stockings have black elastic now
…it made them sooo pretty, I need to reshoot them, the feet are no longer a paler shade of purple and overall they look brighter to me.

Now, before I go pull the mornings orders I also wanted to mention that our host has had some routing problems the past couple of days so if you visit and the pages don’t load it should be brief and should clear up entirely this weekend…
as requested!
(the wait is over)

Far out!!!! Xilias Pick

With names as eclectic and unique as Space Forest and Grapes in Spaces (2 of the colors used in this review) and the magic of “memory yarn” you are sure to feel that your toes have found a place so wonderful as to be out of this world.

An old fan of EG Smith Space Dyed Socklings (I wore a pair the first day I met Sockdreams), I could go on and on about how dazzling, practical, and cozy these socks are. They have been hiking with me on the West Highland Way in Scotland as well as a dashing accent to many a going out on the town outfit.
The versatility of these foot adornments is astonishing!!!!! They can be worn at varied lenghts ( as demonstrated below) depending on the mood or need of the wearer.

I love the fact that even if you stretch them to their maximum capacity (and they have a whole big huge lovey pile of give in them) they always retain their elasticity and stay up through repeated wearings and washings. Yet these socks still manage to feel natural and soft.. not acrylicy or harsh on the skin. YAY!!!!

Even Sammy my wonder dog loves to snuggle up to my tootsies in these!!! ( as you can see from the copious amounts of hair strewn over them in the pictures!) :)-

We just got in some new color variations so go have a gander…once you have tried one pair you will want them all!

How high are your socks?

naturally organic socks
mine are midcalves…
Hemp midcalves, marketed to me as men’s socks
I kind of like them though and I think other girls and sock lovers will too.
As you probably know, hemp is a wonderful renewable resource that doesn’t require pesticides or herbicides. It is the strongest natural fiber so it isn’t exactly naturally soft. For this reason many hemp socks have a high amount of cotton too.
The EG Smith hemp bootsocks are only 18% hemp because they are 81% cotton and nice and soft because of it…
These are 50% hemp and a good sturdy sock…
They are not itchy or scratchy…
so small most people won't see what it is unless they look closely
they have this little embroidered leaf on them…
we have the option of getting our own logo but would have to buy alot so that’s not going to happen anytime soon.
Now for the fit…
warm & dry
The tops were narrow (on ME!!!), mostly it was getting them over my 8.5 (slightly wide) feet, I didn’t have trouble, but I think large feet will. Once on they are really comfy, nice padding around the feet and comfortably warm. They stayed up pretty well and could be scrunched down comfortably, again, slightly narrow cuff, so large calves aren’t going to like them. They are a “one size” fit, 9-11 or shoe size smallish to largish, I don’t think feet smaller than 7 will like them unless you like loose socks and, as I said above, large feet beware, they may be snug. That said, if they are in your range and you want hemp socks I think these are a great choice at $10…

kitty toes!!!!

These new Leopard Toesocks are sweet and comfy!

They’ve been hiding on the newest items page for a couple of days, until I got my hands on these tube-style anklet toesocks. In tan with black markings, toes and cuffs, they don’t quite suit my idea of leopard print. However, once I got them on I found that they’re comfy, breathable while still having enough cushiness, and they fit my long toes (and even my tiny pinky toe) without needing readjusting!!! I wore them for two whole days (I know, bad girl) before taking them off and only have one beef–the spots wear off! On my heels and the balls of my feet I noticed after the first day that the black spots were fading. After the second day, I didn’t see any more fading but did notice a bit of thinning in the material, so that may be why I saw fading. You can see in the top pic that they’re a little sheer at these areas on my feet. However, they still provided plenty of size range and comfort, and I never felt the thinning, even after taking them off and standing on my cold floor.

The one big plus that I found was that every time I look at my feet I thought they looked like siamese cat feet, all black and tan and soft! :) So even if the spots all wear off (which I don’t seriously anticipate), I’m gonna be happy with this neato color combo. :D

My official sock inspector is seen here, standing over the pile of new-to-me items that I’ll be reviewing here soon! :)

Yes, I do know the holidaze is over… But …

I still want to wear my Red and Green M Stripes. Does red and green really have to be just for Christmas? I love the color combination, and am going to start a one woman rebellion against wearing Red/Green in December only.

This past December was the first time I tried the M Stripes. I had wanted them for a very long time. But when I saw the way they fit Niqkita, I truly wished for a more petite set of pedestals for me. I thought that they would probably be too snug on my long and large legs. I took the chance this time and ordered them… figuring that if I could not get them over my legs, I could always use them as arm-warmers (as most manufactured arm warmers are far too short for my long arms too).

I won’t tell you that they are the best fitting socks ever for longer and larger, … BUT… they can be pretty great. Which is more than good enough for me as I have secretly pined for them for such a long time.

Okay… down to the fit. First thing I noticed fit-wise is that the feet are a tad too small for my size 11’s. The heel doesn’t really quite make it to my heel(though I must say that after several washes and wet stretches they have gotten quite a lot better fitting, just do not use heat). I was a bit nervous when first I started to pull them up my calves… they felt a bit snug but had enough ‘give’ to hug my muscular calves and keep going up (this I was amazed at). The next hurdle I had was getting them past my knees… SUCCESS!!! They did not go too far up my thigh, and just sort of settled in at a perfect OTK length. The top knit of the sock was just too constricting to make it to near my mid thigh, and it did that pucker thing and made my thighs squeeze in and look funny. However, there was a solution, I rolled the top over itself twice making a nice two inch or so cuff (this took up the slack in the sock, and covered the pinched top of the sock as to make my leg look smoother.). Now they look perfect!!!

The first day I got them I nearly danced around the living room (okay, okay… I did dance). I love these socks! I wish they could be made in a larger foot size, and dream the fantasy that they could both have a larger foot and a more forgiving top for the thigh…. but I must say that as they are, they are still a wonderful option for the larger legged (as OTK socks). They feel really nice and are soooo great looking. I wore mine Friday night with a long flowing black skirt and a pair of Converse… I must admit I kept pulling up my skirt to avoid puddles and such while walking around, and well… I kept hiking it up higher than I needed to just to show off my great M Stripes and begin the Red/Green Rebellion.

Extra warmth for the ice & freezing rain

my froggie is covered in ice! but my toes are still warm...
Today we had an ice storm here in Portland…
a perfect day to test out our latest wool socks!
O Woolies
Over the knees
and woolie warm…
I pulled my O Woolies up, strapped on my fav moccasins,
put on my long coat and leather gloves
and headed outside to see how long I could stay warm….
Icicles are growing but my toes are toasty
My fingers froze long before my toes did
…so I headed back in with the dogs and the heater.
I’ve been wearing these all day with no complaints…
not one, they stay up well, don’t itch, keep me warm & fit well.
When I first put them on before washing they were really long, thigh high, I wasn’t even sure I had the right length, but a couple of warm washings fixed them right up, they are just a few inches above my knees and fluffy soft. We have them in two foot sizes and they should fit to about 19 inches around comfortably…
Let it snow… let it snow… let it snow!!!

And now for something completely different…

I made a mention awhile back that we had a surprise sock “girl” joining us & it is now time for the introduction. It seems we’ve had a fan with an amazing list of accomplishments & interests lurking about and dreaming of joining us in our sock journaling. He is not female like the rest of us “girls” but loves to wear many of the styles regardless of gender and has offered to dress female to best support the stock. I am really pleased with the creativity of this first submission & know that many of you will appreciate and enjoy Andrew’s perspective too:
Tasty toes
Who said the best recipes are in old cookery books?

Recipe: Classic Contrast

Serves: 1 girl or boy of any age

Ingredients:

1 pair of legs/feet

1 pair of black tights (as provided by Sockdreams)

1 white anklet, finished off with a generous lace topping (also provided by Sockdreams)

1 pair of shoes (as required)

Method: Apply the tights over the legs and feet smoothing and adjusting as desired. Add the white anklet to a foot of your choice and finish off with shoes if needed. Serve and enjoy for the day.

Andrew’s comment
As much as I love bright shades and stripes there is still a great deal of mileage in classic contrasts, especially the timeless blending of black and white. Who also doesn’t find a white anklet cute and adorable! I chose to wear just one anklet for further emphasis on the black/white contrast which worked very well and shows it pays to be bold and experiment! Regardless of your gender, opaque black tights always show legs to their best advantage too! A bold pleasing outfit that is comfortable and stylish to boot. I chose to wear it for the day and it certainly lifted some of the drudgery and monotony of the dreaded supermarket visit.

By request…

Tube socks in white, over the knees and nearly thigh high
Over the knee tube socks.
What I like least about them:
loose feet that slip down when I’m not wearing shoes.
What I like the most about them:
Loose feet that let my feet breathe & my toes wiggle.
my personal pair, clower to my knees and hanging from my feet
Before being washed they are almost thigh high on my 30 inch legs.
After being washed a couple of times in warm water my pair (above) shrunk a few inches and stay nicely above my knees, either cuffed or scrunched a bit.
Long legs & large feet are going to love these and I think the tops should comfortably fit up to about 19/20 inches around.
I wasn’t sure how much demand there would be for these so I only brought in 5 colors and a dozen of each. I’d really like feedback on these, should we keep them? make them longer/shorter? more colors? We cannot get them wider or with smaller feet, but length & colors can be changed…

Kind of by accident really…

lace up velvet otk's
Lace up Velvet thigh highs.
Originally I was not going to get these.
I thought they couldn’t possibly work, this, largely based on bad experience with little lace up anklets I hated (the first style to be discontinued based on preference rather than availability). Then one day I saw a girl crossing the street in a pair, WoW were they sexy! and they appeared to be staying up just fine. I’ve been planning to get them in ever since, it just never quite happened. Then, last month, when I tried to stock up on our regular velvet over the knees we got these instead.
Now, I’m not going to lie to you, I only wore them for the photos (the custest of which you will never see~;), I’ve not given them a full testing, but I know at least one of our sock girls will be more than happy to give them a good testing for us…
