And now for something completely different…

I made a mention awhile back that we had a surprise sock “girl” joining us & it is now time for the introduction. It seems we’ve had a fan with an amazing list of accomplishments & interests lurking about and dreaming of joining us in our sock journaling. He is not female like the rest of us “girls” but loves to wear many of the styles regardless of gender and has offered to dress female to best support the stock. I am really pleased with the creativity of this first submission & know that many of you will appreciate and enjoy Andrew’s perspective too:

Who said the best recipes are in old cookery books?

Recipe: Classic Contrast

Serves: 1 girl or boy of any age

Ingredients:

1 pair of legs/feet

1 pair of black tights (as provided by Sockdreams)

1 white anklet, finished off with a generous lace topping (also provided by Sockdreams)

1 pair of shoes (as required)

Method: Apply the tights over the legs and feet smoothing and adjusting as desired. Add the white anklet to a foot of your choice and finish off with shoes if needed. Serve and enjoy for the day.

Andrew’s comment
As much as I love bright shades and stripes there is still a great deal of mileage in classic contrasts, especially the timeless blending of black and white. Who also doesn’t find a white anklet cute and adorable! I chose to wear just one anklet for further emphasis on the black/white contrast which worked very well and shows it pays to be bold and experiment! Regardless of your gender, opaque black tights always show legs to their best advantage too! A bold pleasing outfit that is comfortable and stylish to boot. I chose to wear it for the day and it certainly lifted some of the drudgery and monotony of the dreaded supermarket visit.

Here here! My own dear husband looks great in many of our socks though I’ve yet to get him to wear a pair of tights, I think he’d look smashing in them!

hiya andrew! Welcome!!! Now I’ll have to make you a little something, too! Would you like a pair of garters? :)

wow! What a great catch you girls got! What’s Lola gonna do now? :) So what size feet and legs does Andrew have comparable to womens US size? Funny I keep stats like this on you people. :) I don’t know your face, but I know your shoe size. :)))

Will these photos supplement or replace the Niqkita & Xilia pix? While the mascot/ dress-me-doll/ manequin concept is intreguing, and indeed unprecidented, I’m a bit concerned as a customer that I’ll have a harder time visualizing how your products might look on me (female) if I’m going off of a photo of Andrew (male). Part of what compells my purchases is how great these girls look– in a female kind of way– and the desire get that look. Frankly, I have no wish to look like a guy, even a swell lookin’ one, and it might be hard to see through that as I’m shopping.

no worries… ALL the sock girls (of every sex) will be posting lots of pics :O)

  8. niqkita Says:

Nope, we are not going anywhere! sorry if it sounded that way, he is merely an additon to the rest of us. And yes, even Lola will continue to show up here!

I’m very happy to hear this. As women have reclaimed trousers, men should reclaim tights that are considered “women’s realm”. :)

Now I will try to post this in the right place for a change! I enjoyed chatting with Andrew on the site I have linked above, and wish him well in his career as a hosiery model. Why do some people have all the luck? I am more of a tights man myself, but I applaud anything that helps bring about freedom of legwear for both sexes.

Excellent review! I am so happy I have a boyfriend who understands my sock love, and appreciates it when I remember to include him on my sock orders.
