Good Ideas Suck

you know where you can stick that pin ~;)
…because it says so on the labels, that’s why.
I was approached by the Punk Rock Sox folks months ago when all they had was a great idea and some sketches that resembled socks. They said they’d include a pin with each pair and let me choose what I liked, months later we got them, weeks later I’m finally showing them to you. Now don’t you feel special? They have more and a shorter version too, I want to see how these go before I get more, but I thought they were cool enough to try so here they are. I tried some on, I think they are a tad small, like they just fit me and I’m somewhere between an 8.5 & size 9 shoe size, the X were just a wee bigger, they’re well made and surprisingly comfy so if you have feet my size or smaller and like to wear your attitude on your ankles for all to see these socks are for you! I put them all in a little catagory all their own, Punk Rock Sox, plus they are in the midcalves section and the newest arrivals page (speaking of which, Olivia made us a new banner for that on the front page, didja see it, well, did you???).
Okay, that’s all your going to see from me here for a few days, it’s not that I don’t love you, because you know that I do, it’s just that the hollydaze are here and people all over the world are giving the gift of warm toes and we are doing all we can to keep everyone happy, so if you write please be patient we’re getting back to everyone just as quick as we can…

Another cool foggy Sunday…

Newer, shorter & stretchier
These are the socks I was wearing under my fav new booties
we have a batch on their way to us now…
(((they are such dreamy little socks)))
when I first saw them the feet looked tiny, I wasn’t sure they’d fit me, but they are a soft spandex blend with wonderful stretchability so they hug and form to our legs better than our beloved cotton flat knitted M Stripes, M40s & Super Ms.
The only point against these is that we can only get them in pastel shades right now, but better that than not at all no? After we get through the holiday I want to get lots of M Stocking styles made shorter and with smaller foot options, including wool,
this is only the beginning…

Also, on a less pleasant note, we have a little problem in the product links right now. It seems that if you click the text links for more information on an item you may get the 404 redirect page which will take you to the main page if you don’t back page in a hurry. All the image links appear to be working though so all is not lost. Just click the thumbnail of any item you want to look at or buy and it should link you right into the page. I’ve alerted Olivia & Sybrand and they will fix it as soon as they can….

3 things that make my toes happy

snuggley socks and warm puppies
1. Our puppy Lola:
I haven’t been showing her off as much as I’d like, but she’s always nearby.
2. Comfy bootie socks:
I think these are the best bootie socks ever!
why? they actually stay on my feet! I hate it when bootie socks slip off my heels as most do, I like to wear these over other pairs of socks or tights for extra warmth & padding around my feet and to keep longer styles clean longer since these keep the feets clean ~:)
3. Cozy long socks:
this pair is a sample and we should have them in next week, stretchy spandex-y over the knee socks from our fav supplier in soft pastel shades that will fit little feet and big legs just the same.

3 things that make my toes sad:
1. realizing I was so focused on getting more rainbow toesocks and argyle otks that I completely failed to order more rainbow otk’s!
2. Being out of M40s in 4 of the coolest colors (more due next Friday).
3. Never ever being able to keep everything in stock all the time…

because it’s chilly and we’re silly…

Rainbow striped OTKs from Foot Traffic! :)

Just the thing to keep you cheery all day long, these are thin enough for almost all seasons and are great as a layer under thicker socks (or nifty fishnets!). I always get great reactions when people see these! They’re nice and elastic-y and will easily fit a 20″ thigh and size 12 foot, AND they come all the way up to my mid-thigh!!! These socks are sooo fun!

(John’s featured above in the grey fingerless gloves. ;) )

Here come the holidays…

elfen candy cane stripeys
Thanks to the brilliant suggestion of one of our fine visitors we now have
Candy cane inspired red & white cotton M Stripes
soon to be joined by red & green…
Have a holiday stripe you want to see? let me know, maybe we can do it…
but you better do it quick because regardless of which pre-winter celebration you enjoy it will be here before you know it! and while you’re thinking about stripes, think about which socks will warm which toes on your list. Don’t celebrate at all? that’s an even better reason to get yourself some comfy socks!
Reasons to do your holiday shopping with us:
We’re always open & never crowded
We don’t charge for first class shipping in the US (but remember that everyone everywhere gets really busy in December so the sooner you order the smoother everything will go from the time we package it til the time your local postal delivery person brings it to your door).
We also have lots of cool styles, pretty decent prices and usually damn good customer service (assuming spam blockers don’t prevent us from sending your reply).
We’ll be taking Thursday off but will be back doing our socky thing Friday…
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Variations, day 3~ leg warmers…

more sweater-like knits!
I fell in love with these last summer at a trade show, they were among the first styles I found that weekend that have this lovely hand made look & feel to them.
We now have them in three colors, this is magenta, we also have olive green with a gold top ruffle & black with magenta. They were snug enough that when I pulled them up to my knees they stayed up with ease, they weren’t too tight, they might be on wider than average legs though. Fortunately they are even nicer around the ankles where they should fit most people with ease.
These are similar but not the same…
laced cuffs & bows
Flatter ribbing, lighter knit with a scalloped edge at the bottom, the tops fold over and have black straps lacing up them. These also stayed up well and hung at the ankles nicely. Both make great layers on on cool days.

Variations on a theme, day 2

Thick & soft
These remind me of the booties my great-grandma used to crochet when I was little.
The ones above just cover the feet & have little pom-poms on top,
the ones below come up to the ankles…
cute!!!
They both have formed heels and woven toes (no toe seams!) and come in 4 colors.
They make excellent slippers and can be worn over other socks.
I found them to be quite comfy. They are made of acrylic but look like cotton while having great stretch and shape retention (they don’t stretch out of shape easily).
I think these should fit shoe size 5 on up to 10.
Then there are these
two layers
not only are these thick, they are double layered!
there is a toe seam, it is where the two layers join at the toes, then they meet up again in the scalloped trim at the tops. The inside layer is black & very soft. On the outside are these big stripes with pretty little flowers adorning the sides. They only come in this one choice and should fit shoe size 5-10.5
And, yes, those are space dyed EG Smith tights under them in fuchsia shock.

Oh, I just added these tonight too, they are very much like the stripes & rosettes above, but less feminine, same double layering for warmth and comfort…
intricately woven pattern makes these just that much more unique.
They call this Kashmir Shawl, it is a fitting name…
an intricate woven pattern adorns these wonderfully cozy socks.
I think any of these new socks would make very thoughtful gifts!

Variations on a theme

warmth & comfort
Now in stock, Super Ms in wool, super warm & of course, super comfy!
I did a 2 day test after running them through a couple of washer & dryer loads to shrink them up. I found nearly a 10 inch difference in length, and they are more snug than the cotton version around the legs, the thighs still stretched to nearly 24 inches wide with a length of about 40 inches after shrinkage.
The first day I wore them without garters, they would slip to my knees from time to time. During moderate to light activity I found this acceptable. I slept in them all night comfortably. I recommend making sure you moisturize your skin in this cold dry weather, wool is good at wicking moisture away from your skin (as is cotton) and I noticed my skin was a little extra dry around my knees & feet.
On the second day I added sock garters.
keep your socks up!
These are our latest, inspired by the pretty purples in the M Stripes.
They stayed up all the way at the tops of my thighs perfectly & comfortably.
Not only all morning and afternoon while I ran up & down the stairs here at Sock Dreams headquarters but in and through two malls at the end of the day in search of a birthday gift for my bestfriend and longtime partner Bsti.
At the end of the day the only reason I took these off was to replace them with a new sample pair I’m testing, a spandex-y version of the Super Ms that is snug from the feet through the ankles and up to the thighs. I’ll bring these in after the holidays, but I liked the otk version (pastels only for now) so well last week that I went ahead and got some, you’ll see those here soon. Also after the holidays, more lengths of plain comfy wool socks just in time for winter.

Another peak into our sock world

the hands that fold your socks
Xilia took this of herself labeling M40s on the table I showed you last weekend.
Those are our black & white striped arm warmers on her hands.
In the background you can see some boxes of socks that are waiting to be weighed & sent off to their new homes.
Some days she does the weighing and/or packaging of the orders too
and if you ever get an invoice with a happy picture on it rather than just a happy face she probably drew it just for you ~:)
Not only is she a damn good photog (yes, I’m a wee jealous, but in a good way)
she is also a talented writer so I’ve invited her to join us in the sock journaling.
Welcome Xilia!!!

Back in stock!!

beige jambieres are finally back!!!
Not only did we get the beige jambieres back, we also got them back in charcoal.
We got several large orders in today and these are back now too:
pink & pink otk toesocks
green & white otk’s
brownie boot socks
white vertical striped thigh highs
double striped thigh highs (now in neon green too)
Slide socks (though they keep sending only half of what I ordered)
burgundy & black thigh highs
and large tabi socks!!!
She even sent the taller tabis in white and black this time, when I work on pictures this weekend I’ll take some of those, but for now you can use your imagination, they are bright white and true black.
I’m pretty excited right now…
we had an excellent week, our busiest yet and they will just get busier this next month, but we are as ready as can be. I even made dozens and dozens of sock garters this week. We will still run out of things, retail is just like that, no matter how hard you try you will run out of something but I tried to plan ahead on what I know will sell, some things I may not have been aggressive enough on and some things even the supplier has or will run out of. The cool thing is we now have such a tremendous variety that you should be able to find other things you might like even more if we happen to be out of what you wanted. Plus, I still have some really neat suprises to show you, cute booties that look like gramma made them, brilliant stripes, wild argyles and…
Have a happy weekend, I know we will!!!
