warmer legs = better sleep
sleep well!
I got this wonderful letter today raving about our leg warmers
I couldn’t resist sharing. Maybe this will help others…

Dear Niqkita:

I had run out of doctors and their non-solutions to my problems of icy-cold legs (and feet) at night. The condition is called Raynaud’s Syndrome which leads to excruciating foot and [with me now] leg cramps. Last night, for the first time in some years, I had toasty warm legs because of your wonderful fuzzy purple leg warmers received yesterday.

My daughter gave me some lovely fuzzy socks last year which helped my icy feet (they are knit from eye-lash yarn, it seems), but nothing helped my legs. The result of these leg cramps was a fall out of bed in May 2003 which damaged my back, bruised my coccyx, and has resulted in almost 15 months of pain. Acupuncture is finally helping my leg pains, but I have been in anxious anticipation of another winter of leg cramps when I woke up with a mild cramp one morning thinking “leg warmers.”

Your leg warmers are just what the doctor didn’t know to order. I will be in contact with several doctors I have seen over the past year telling them about your website so they might recommend your warmest leg warmers to people like me.

You might find a new venue for your leg warmers on the Internet (Leg Warmers for Leg Cramps?) which is where I found you. Not one of the sources when I Googled “Leg Cramps” offered leg warmers. Some suggested heat treatments after the fact . I’m sure other people would be thrilled to hear of your merchandise. Good luck.

I’ll be back to buy more when your new colors come in for the fuzzy ones. In the meantime, I’ve just ordered a set of royal blue long ones.

Thanks for being there — I’m just sorry it took so long for me to find your leg warmers!

I can’t begin to tell you how happy this makes me, okay, yes I can,
I am thrilled to know we’re literally making dreams come true!!!
For the ultimate warmth from leg warmers try the Orkneys, they’re “high end” and as warm as they get…

Satin Anklets

Shiny, satin-y anklets are fun! I decided to try the pink and silver, and found that like other items, size varies with color in these, too!

First the pink:

I liked the shimmery quality of these, but they didn’t have enough stretch for my size 12s, and the part that should have been on my ankle was more on my heel, causing them to be very low socks on me. Still, they were cute, but I don’t recommend them for anyone with a shoe size larger than a Woman’s 9.

Now the silver:

These surprised me, since I tried on the pink first! These were much more stretchy and comfy, and I really loved how shiny-shimmery this color is. I still wouldn’t recommend the silver for a foot larger than a Women’s 12, but they fit up to and including that size very well. I had more of a cuff on these and they felt great!

Dearly departed bootsocks…
bootsocks
originally posted 8/28/04 when we first got them…
We don’t currently carry them, quality issues, sooo sad!
The last two batches unraveled at the stripes & had to be sent back.
I’ve been told we can order them again, but they’re about the same as the bad ones & I don’t want to have to send them back yet again…
In other (better) bootsock news, we finally got the white ones back as well as the purple pluto cotton otk’s & moonrock cotton tights. We’re still out of purple bootsocks, but when our next order comes in (next month) all EG Smith items *should* be ready for the fall rush… Then, and only then, I can bring in even more colors!
Yesterday we got a box I ordered at the trade show, just a couple of new ones in it, but I’m not touching them til next month, all I’ll say is they are soft & sparkly and one is totally unique!

Toes & nails
rainbows & toes
I’m sure you’ve seen that frightening commercial about tonail fungus. You know the one, it makes you cringe & want to change the channel. I have a paranoia about having this. I’ve read that clove oil & lavender oil are good home treatments, but that commercial is scary & I don’t like pills. I had a rare doctor appointment the other day, nothing in particular, I just wanted a check up as it’d been a few years. Off came my socks so the doctor could see my nails (of course I removed all my polish before going). I’m happy to report that the doctor said my nails look fine. Yeah, I already knew that, but like I said, paranoia! He also said he liked the length I had, not too short, not too long, and that tea tree oil is perfect for treating potential problems. I just thought you might want to know that. My saying so does not replace the advice of a doctor if you suspect nail problems (I don’t want to face any liability here, just passing on good info).
I’ve washed my cut off toe socks about four time now and still don’t have any major fraying going on.
P.S. did anyone get the August Sock News I sent out early Friday? something might’ve gone wrong with the sending so I don’t know if anyone actually got it, well, I know some people got it, but I think alot of people didn’t. I might just have to resend it…

Pink Lemonade Stripes

During the dog days of summer, what’s cooler than a nice cold glass of pink lemonade? These pink and lemonade otk stripeys from Leg Avenue!

pinklemonadestripes.jpg

Just back in stock! Made nicer and stretchier than their usual stockings, these remind me more of the quality thigh-highs from Music Legs. They easily fit me and would stretch to fit larger legs as well. I love the color combo and hope that Leg Ave continues in this different colored direction! These are excellent stockings and I absolutely love them! I tried ‘em with my new boots:

I got an odd pair! Don’t worry, though, no one else has gotten these, but you’ll have to ask Niqkita what the toes are really supposed to look like! :)

Did they shrink up?
just a little…
after a little hot water...
Here they are after going through a hot water wash and a full run in the dryer. The main difference I noticed was in length. Before I had to scrunch or fold them down. After I wore them awhile I noticed that they stretched a little more again, maybe two inches.
The feet went on snugger, but again, stretched a bit with wear.
So if you want your M40s a bit smaller go ahead and wash & dry them using all the heat your machines can muster. But if you accidentally send them through the wash you might be able to stretch them back to where you want them.
I just got a sample pair of them today in neon yellow and a letter from the supplier telling me of more new yarn colors that we can choose from including a lighter pink, light purple and brown, all in cotton!

Hurray for cooler weather and layers of warmth!
leaf green M40s under cable knit denim leg warmers
Last year’s denim leg warmers over the newest M40s
These leg warmers never stay up well on me…
I usually use sock garters hidden under the cuffs, but I forgot to grab a pair on my way out the door so they slipped down everytime I walked swiftly. It looks like this year’s version has a different top that should keep them up. I’ll order some to try when I order in their other new items next month. Until then, we still have a couple dozen of this version available, they sold so well that I totally stocked up when I could (they were nice enough to warn me before they ran out this spring).
The M40s didn’t stay up as well as other colors have in the past, slipping ever so slightly down my thighs from the brisk walks. Plus, they have ample feet which is great for many of you, but I’m trying to shrink mine. I have them in the dryer at this very moment and will report back later on the results…

A year ago tomorrow…
nice detail of the sheer argyle tights
I can hardly believe it’s been a year already since I asked Brigid to snap this shot for me. One of my fav bootsock pix is a couple of days before that one. In between those two days are the long gone otk argyles we had last year. We’ll have new OTK argyles next month, I just got the catalog yesterday but have to wait because today is the last day I’m adding anything new to this site til we get the new site up and running (more details of that in the coming days/weeks). These argyle tights in the picture, we still have them and should for some time to come as well as a few other cute argyle tights. When I can get back to bringing new stuff in there will be even more…

We finally got some nice cool rain today
and we have cool new socks to go with it
longer tabis!
I know we’d like them even longer, but…
these are the longest tabis we can get…
midcalf with lightly ribbed arches & calves
This pair is cream and is the only color we could get them in large, they also come in medium as do the grey & brown. There seems to be a large tabi shortage. The large ankle length are getting low. I haven’t been able to reorder them for over a month and may not be able to for at least another month, we have plenty in black, but are out of white and red and low on several colors, they offered me a pumpkin orange in large so I added them tonight too. The medium supply is fine though. This fall I’ll bring in a fleece version, hopefully by then we can find some really long ones too, but no promises…
speaking of long, did you see these?
cool leaf green, one of my new favs
they came in this week and were added in last night, I really love this shade of green, so cool & refreshing! and just like the rest of the M40s they are soft, stretchy & comfy with that great stay up power. We also got them in yellow & royal blue…

I used to think this combination was a bit much, now I adore it…
lap it up!
pink & red is sumptuous & sexy
…and now we have these deliciously rich M Stripes and a couple more new ones.
I’ve worn these the last two days, even though it’s been a bit warm for long socks, I just wore shorter skirts to compensate ~;)
they totally stayed up, though I had to tug them back up once in awhile to get rid of the slack around my ankles. In a perfect world they wouldn’t do that, then again, I kind of like it and we all know there is little sexier than a woman straightening her stockings…
