New stripes…
pink lemonade stripes
This is one of the two new Leg Avenue stripes we got in this week.
The other is turquoise & pink, both seemed to reach higher than most of the Leg Avenue striped thigh highs I’ve tried before.
We also got several new striped knee highs, some by Leg Ave, some by Music Legs (haven’t photographed those yet…). The colors are different, but the length, fit & stripe size are the same, the texture of the Music Legs is thicker. I just noticed that the Leg Avenue striped tights now come in a few different colors than Music Legs version so I brought in a dozen of each to give them a try, they’re due late next week (lavender & black has me the most excited!)
I also picked out a few new M Stripe combinations to try, we should have those in a couple weeks…

out with the old in with the new…
new prints!
I never really liked the pattern on the Foot Traffic “leopard print” knee highs. But it sold pretty well so I reordered it. Then we had a large purchase, someone got 7 pairs and returned every one of them a week later because they didn’t like them, that was when I put my foot down & decided that when we sold out I’d replace them with what looked like a better pattern, “cheetah spots”. Well, I do indeed like them better, the colors are nicer and the print nearly matches up perfectly on the sides, but our very own Shelleopard takes issue with them being called cheetah spots because the colors aren’t accurate. BTW, it’s also her fault that I didn’t get this posted on time last night but I have no excuse for not posting it earlier today ~:)

Sunshine Rainbows & naked toes…

Sunshine Rainbows & naked toes…
Sunshine Rainbows & Naked toes
naked rainbow toes
I might not’ve ever thought to do this…
I saw Eliza do it first & thought it sooo excellent
I wouldn’t have chosen rainbows like she did
but this pair was returned due to an unseen hole
so it was the perfect sacrificial pair for my experiment.
I did one foot shorter than the other & haven’t picked a favorite yet
I really liked how they looked & felt with sandals…
sandals & naked toes
I wore them with walking shoes when Jake & I walked over to the post office to drop off the day’s express orders. It felt neat to have my toes free but not entirely bare feet in the shoes. The cuff started to dig into my calves after about 8 hours so I folded it over and it has been fine since. I’m looking forward to seeing how much they fray from being washed…

Cool & comfy in my linen bootsocks
you can almost see how well they breathe...
These are currently my fav bootsocks
for some reason these are a tad larger with a lighter knit than the other bootsocks making them really nice for summer. I put in an order with EG Smith yesterday, my favorite order taker is moving up in the company which is good for her but I’ll miss our monthly sock talks. Hopefully I’ll learn to like her replacement in training as much (even though she’s started off on a bad foot by not having sent out the new fall catalog to us yet~;) We will soon have a light pink bootsock that I think will be the same shade as the no foot boot pinky pink, it’s quite light & really pretty. The best news is that the longstockings are finally coming back this fall!!! She didn’t know the actual date or how many choices besides white we’ll have, but she did let me order 4 dozen to get us started as soon as possible, so keep your toes crossed, they really are coming this time…

Shelleopard’s sock drawer

Well, guys, I’ve been busy moving into a new apartment, so I haven’t been posting lately & Figuring out where to put this:

moveinsockdrawer.jpg

has been about the most that I’ve been thinking of socks. I used to have just one sock drawer.  Then I found Sock Dreams and had to buy a whole sock dresser!!! :)

Anyhow, I wore these a few days ago and thought that I’d share.

They’re similar to the ones Niqkita was wearing in the post below, and were discontinued ( I managed to snag the last pair! ) as well. Since then, Sock Dreams has managed to set up a lovely relationship with the people who make M stockings, and so we can now offer nice light cotton socks like these, if not in this exact pattern. Maybe someday we can get nifty socksies like these again…who knows? Not me!  But for now, I love my old socks and the new M stockings, too! :)

Retrospect…
socks that never were and socks that were not the same as...
this time last year alot was happening, but all was not as it seemed….
I thought we were going to be able to get some really cute cotton over the knees (the purple ones in the picture)
but it was not to be, the company was closing & hadn’t told me yet so we never got the order I placed. It’s just as well, they didn’t stand up to the washing machine the way they should. We were also supposed to get the sweater socks made longer by that company…
that didn’t happen either ~:(
I wasn’t too sure about the single angora otk sample strewn about my knees, I wasn’t able to try them before committing to them & we were only able to get two colors (grey was not one of the two)
but they ended up being a huge success!
(we still have a few in beige & red left).
We only had the plain sock garters and they were being made by a different Angora supplier. Now, with their permission, I make several different sock garters
(Amazonian Goddess makes us a unique spiked garter besides).
We were just about to get our first shipment of plaid thigh highs. We’ve now been out for a few months & may not be able to get more for months to come (they were custom made & no real reason has been given for the lack of new ones). and, finally, we’d just received our first batch of the cotton otk’s in green & black which turned into one of the most popular choices of that style, we just ran out last week, but now have them in the longer M Stripes (it’s a bit brighter of a green). My plan is to start getting the M stripes in an over the knee version when we run out of the current cotton otk’s.
Since this time last year I’ve learned to keep pretty quiet about future plans because they rarely seem to go as expected…

I had today’s socks & picture all planned out early this morning.
But…
bare feet & puppy toes
this isn’t it.
…it was too hot for socks & walks
and judging by today’s sales it wasn’t just us.
It’s sad when sock sales are slow,
but it’s understandable in this record breaking heat.
We need to do more advertising in places like Alaska & Australia next summer…
they love us & we love them.
We also love Margaret Cho,
even if I did leave out a pair of her socks last week…
I’m human, I make mistakes
(though I still want to blame it on shipping~;)
so what was I going to wear today?
I finally got around to cutting the toes off of my rainbow toesocks
maybe I’ll show you on Monday…

I have not one, but two dream jobs…
delicious cook books garnished with tasty toe socks
Sometimes when I’m not selling socks
I can be found selling books, cookbooks…
I love cookbooks! so many pretty pictures & yummy recipes.
It’s a nice change of pace & I only do it in occassional 4 hour shifts
it can be fun because I get to help customers face to face…
it also helps remind me why I sell socks online ~:)
btw…
my toes were comfy cool in my sandals & toesocks.
I put in an order for more of these today…
they have new ankle highs that we’ll get in about two weeks.

One last shot before we move on…
soft pink and oh-so-comfy!
I really liked this picture & wanted to post it the first day.
Since I didn’t wear any socks today I’ll share it…
if I had worn socks today I’d've worn these
(I even washed them this morning).
But I ended up wearing sandals with bare feet so my poor little pink bobby socklings spent their day locked in a hot car waiting for my toes to get cold…

Cool socks for hot days…
space dyed banana bobby socklings
while supplies last these little cuties are only $5 a pair
…and if you’re in the US we’ll send them to you at no charge!
and why would you want them?
because they are 70% cotton so they absorb alot of sweat, with enough nylon to keep their shape so they fit really nicely, they are thin and won’t overheat your feet in your shoes (if you must wear shoes on hot days). They are a really nice little sock and if you’ve already tried them & like them you really ought to stock up, we may never offer them at this price again. In fact, we only have six pairs of the space dyed bananas you see above so if you want them you should go to their page & buy some now!!!
