ribbed M stockings with cut off sweater socks
Just a comfy pair of purple M Stockings with an experimental pair of cut off sweater socks (I hemmed the bottom leaving enough unhemmed to fray nicely).
The new larger size of M stockings should be arriving next week
(sorry, I delayed a little in ordering).
They will only be solid colors for now…
the rose color like I wore a couple of weeks back will be 45 inches, same as what we currently carry, and the others will be 50 inches (toe to tops, cotton will shrink up a little). I ordered these colors to start:
red dark red purple jade denim black white natural light grey.
from there we can add or change lengths & colors & hope to be able to do stripes soon too…

more about the future…
but first, a letter I received today…

Hi there, I’m working on my personal website and in a mad frenzy of
barely surpressed consumer lust, i’m collecting links to my various
wishlists on various online stores to link on my site, and I realized
that you, the fine people at Sock Dreams (I prefer fetishize me, but
such is life among prudish people) do not have a wishlist feature!
This is terribly disappoint, especially since your site is so…
er.. labrynthian? It’s very hard to find the same thing twice,
basically. I’ve found this website: wishlist
which claims to be able to have a wishlist from practically any online
store, and has surprisingly simple setup from a merchant point of
view. Perhaps you could consider incorporating a wishlist somehow? It
would be greatly appreciated. I know you’re working hard on
refurbishing the site, and I hope that a wishlist is something you’ve
had in mind for a while.
Have a lovely toasty day
~Sxxxx

Yes, it’s been requested at least a few times now & I’ve told Olivia I want to add it in the future. It is likely to come in the second phase of the overhaul, after the main stuff is done, but for now it looks like a cool feature that anyone can use to build their own personal wishlist of items from any site they want, like bookmarking a page in your browser.
Labrynthian is a neat word, and I promise that a search feature is one of the most important improvements to this site, besides easier navigation, if you want pink, sheer, plus, ect, you will be able to type it in and see all the items that word is used to describe. Fetishize Me will act as a gateway to the mainsite maintaining all it’s images and keywords which will then point to the new page where the item is on Sock Dreams. I still foresee Fetishize Me doing something important in the future, but what exactly, besides continuing to advertise our many wonderful socks remains a mystery even to me…

Addicted to stripes
this one is currently my wallpaper
yes, it’s true, we’ve worn nearly nothing in the last week besides alot of stripes. In the coming days I’ll make a conscious effort to wear something besides stripes, in fact, at the moment I’m wearing a pair of purple M Stockings (with a striped skirt, vertical stripes though).
But I slept in stripes, spent my morning in stripes & took some really nice striped shots over the weekend so stripes it is…
for just one more day ~:)
Although I find these stay up very well in my legs I also like to play with other ways to wear them, I really like wearing them with garters and found that it was easy to attatch them (some thicker socks/stockings can be a challenge) even the back grips attached without a struggle.
nothing says sexy like garters and stripes!
We just have a few garters right now, but it is an area I plan to expand in the coming months. I also like them just rolled down, I find that long styles stay up better when rolled or cuffed than they do if I just scrunch them at the same thigh level (another one of my various sock studies) though this doesn’t work well with socks that are already snug, they will just cut off the circulation making your thighs hurt ~:( these are not tight above my knees so it worked well…
rolled down stocking style
(:~of course sock garters work well too~:)

Still amazing

Thigh High Stripes by Music Legs!

These are thick, vibrantly colored, altogether beautiful thigh highs that stay up well and stretch loooooong for us tall grrls!

I went out last Halloween in a pair of the Orange and Black striped thigh highs and glowed madly under blacklight; I’m sure these would too. Bright white and mostly opaque, they’re sure to perk up that sombre black outfit, or just make you look like you crawled out of a Burton film! ;)

G’night!

More new stuff!!!
sheer with sheer
we have a whole bunch of new sheer anklets, too many to add to the anklet page so I made a new page to feature sheer styles on. These are made by EG Smith and are alot like the water stripes but they are shorter with wider stripes and at $7 they cost less too (the cost of the water stripes went up awhile ago and I just changed our price to $12 to reflect this). Among other neat things you’ll find on the new page are these sheer dots
sheer & sexy polka dots
These are made by Ozone like the water stripes and sheer roses. The sheer styles that don’t have stripes don’t have the same wonderful fit that the stripes provide and although these are sized in the 9-11 range the heels didn’t really stay on well and I’m only an 8.5. It’s not so bad when you wear them with shoes though, the shoes seem to hold the feet in place properly. Other than that I think they are super cute and I brought in 4 of the 6 colors Ozone offers.

like the water stripes
another beautiful day and another new item
also made by Ozone, these are 72% cotton leggings with sexy sheer stripes around the ankles. Although they have a little more cotton than the EG Smith footless tights they are less opaque, in fact, I wouldn’t wear them in public without another layer to conceal my, um, hips. They come in three sizes, small claims to fit 90-120 lbs 4′11″-5′5″, medium 115-145 lbs 5′2″- 5′8″ and large 140-160 lbs 5′6″- 6′. I’m at the top end of the small range so I tried a pair of mediums and they fit perfectly. I wore them all day and though I’m at the low end of the medium range they stayed up without any sagging or creeping down. I liked how they looked with the little stripeys I wrote about yesterday. And they look really great with the new sheer anklets that I’ll be showing off over the weekend…

new striped bootie socks!
new bootie socks!!!
These are EG Smiths Silky Rayon Striped Peds
I’m just going to go ahead and call them bootie socks though, that’s what I grew up calling this style and I like it, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy to wear bootie socks. I can remember my aunties wearing their beloved bootie socks when they were teenagers and I was just a little one fascinated by their socks. These are nice & soft and stayed on my feet just like they should, they breath well too keeping your toes cool & fresh, just in time for summer, they come in four great colors that should fit the usual “one size” range.

Dreaming of the future…
Bust ad, summer 2004 featuring our very own M Stripes
The summer issue of BUST magazine hit the shelves today.
This ad is on the second to last page (not counting the back cover) and a nearly identical ad will run in Gothic Beauty’s summer issue due out late next week. Last fall when we ran our first GB ad I said things may never be the same, and they haven’t, they’ve been better than ever while still allowing us to be a small personal business. Again I find myself uncertain of just how much of an impact these ads will bring, but I know it’s going to be good, we’re getting more positive feedback than ever and some unexpected attention. I’m also working with an impressive web design team to completely update and overhaul the site, we’re hoping to keep it as unique as possible but with all the items we now have and all the new stuff I plan to bring in we had to do something to make it all much easier to find & keep track of, a search feature is a must, I don’t know all the details yet and have been reluctant to say much til I do but I am really excited, about this and the ads, and all the new socks coming our way, so much that I’ve barely been able to fall asleep at night this week ~:)

Ribbing 101

ever wonder why the tops of some of our socks are different from others?
detail of the inside of an M Stockingup close look at the inside of a bootsock
specifically the M Stockings compared to the EG Smith bootsocks
me too! this is what I wrote to our M supplier…

It’s not a big deal and is okay if you can’t, but I was wondering if there is a way to finish the tops so the elastic is covered more? I’ve been looking at my boot socks trying to figure out just what they do, it’s like the tops fold over then just disappear back into the cuff.

…about the elastic in your boot socks………..they are made with a true rib, this means that the elastic is hidden on the inside. Our machines make the mock rib, where the elastic is on the inside. We would love to get a machine that would do that too… maybe we will.

okay, so on the bootsocks up above and to the right, I folded the top down so you can see the inside and you can see that they look alot like they do on the outside, but on the M Stocking on the left (also folded down to show the inside) you can clearly see the elastic. Even if it was the same color you’d still see it, but they still fit & feel great so I don’t mind too much. If they get a machine that makes a true rib so much the better! I love their socks & I love them for making us our wonderfully unique M Stockings & stripes!!! (I’m testing yet another style from them as I type~:)
