Just how much stretch do the long leg warmers have?
pulled all the way up...
When I first tried these I said they had alot of stretch that my larger legged friends would appreciate, but to be honest, I never put them to the test. This morning I got an email asking just how much stretch they had so it was time to get out my trusty old measuring tape (the same one I’ve been using since I was 15)…
just the bowl and measuring tape...
as you may or may not know my thighs measure in at barely 19 inches so when I’m working alone and trying to determine the max width of a style I employ various items, in today’s example I used two deep bowls, the first was 24 inches and the long leg warmers slipped right over them, so I went for a larger bowl, this one is 27 inches and the leg warmers slipped on with such ease that I’d guess they could go at least another inch….
measuring in at over 27 inches wide
the really good news here is that my pair has been through the washer and dryer already so I don’t expect to see any shrinkage.
To keep them on my 19 inch thighs I use sock garters, but some days I just let ‘em slouch…
yup, we still have snow!
the lighting really affects how blue or purple these look...
Time to warm my toes back up…
sorry, we don't sell these silly stripey toesocks

Slouch vs Boot socks
slouch sock vs boot socks
over the years I’ve had a handful of requests for slouch socks. Until recently the closest we had were the E.G. Smith boot socks, close, but not close enough for some. Last month I brought in some rather generic slouch socks, I like them okay, but for me the bootsocks are still a better sock. Then a few days ago a customer started asking more questions about them and alerted me to the style the girls at Hooters wear, last night she specifically asked how the two compare in length, stretch ect. So here I am wearing them side by side to compare & share…
pulled up
on my left foot is a light blue slouch sock, about 12 inches long
on my right foot is a royal blue boot sock, about 10 inches
now to scrunch them down…
scrunched down
notice how the slouch sock has a lot more orderly little wrinkles…
they are made of 93% cotton with 7% nylon
the bootsocks are 99% cotton with only 1% spandex…
so they are thicker & looser with less stretch
heel to heel
heel to heel they look pretty much the same,
the boot socks are a bit thicker, more of a solid sock.
Both fit nicely on the feet & do not slip around in shoes.
in this shot you can see how different they look inside…
up close and the undersides, nope, I haven't shaved in months
closer stitches and more nylon in the slouch give it that super stretch that pretty much stays right where you put it, the bootsocks have a looser knit with less stretch. This particular pair of bootsocks has been worn extensively for well over a year by both of us and has held up terrifically, no holes and just a bit of fading.
The slouch socks only come purple, pink, light blue, navy & black
The boot socks are available in 15 colors with more due in a week or so.
As for the style the Hooters girls wear, I hear they don’t offer them for sale, I checked their website and they certainly don’t sell them there (I had trouble just finding a picture of them~;) But when I asked our fav supplier I found out they have a nice basic “aerobic” slouch sock in several colors that we’ll be getting later this month…

Stripey oddness…
cotton stripeys
I don’t know why exactly, but some of the cotton striped otk’s have their toe seam under the toes rather than over them. They still fit fine and look pretty much the same…
there's that toe seam, under my left toes...
I love my stripeys even with their peculiarities, I wear them more than you know because they are a great sock to grab at bedtime…

Snowy toes…
the snow was very dry so my toes stayed surprisingly warm
Icey toes…
little bits of ice falling from the sky, twinkley and sparkly and pretty
Fuzzy toes=cozy toes!
the deepest part...the purple shade is perfect in this shot!
(filmed for entertainment purposes only, don’t try this at home)

P.S…
I also made this little quicktime movie, but I have no idea how to rotate it, condense it or loop it, if anyone knows how please tell me~:)

the sexy new stripes, dressed up & ready to go...
I was leery of getting new stripes, we already have sooo many stripes, in fact, I only got these because Ozone was out of almost everything else I tried to order last month.
Like most of Ozone’s socks these are high quality, made in France and come with a higher price, I decided these needed good pictures and some test wearings to determine if they are worth it…
there was something about these new smokey stripes that I loved as soon as I put them on, the color is “meleze” (literally translated this means larch which is a type of evergreen tree and seems to refer to the color green in the same way moss might), the fit is superb (stretchy roomy feet that easily adjusted to fit my smaller feet), they stay up decent, though like I said last week, they may only be knee high on my taller friends. I liked the black stripes too, they reminded me of EG Smith’s lunar eclipse & moonrock so the next time I wore them I put on my moonrock tights first…
just the socks and tights...
Now that I realize I totally love these funky stripes, I want to get the cotton tights in more of the space dyed options (we currently have only two, moonrock & grapes in space, space forest and spacerock are also on their way).
Next I added a skirt and a pair of spiked garters
close up, shows the spikes in the front and the snaps on the inner thighs
I love these garters because they only look wicked, the goddess who designed them made them so that the spikes are only on the outside (in the shot above you can see one of the snaps on the inner thigh) I can comfortably walk & drive in them, I can even cross my legs when I sit!

Yesterday I counted socks, all the socks, sooo many socks!!!
Last night I finally figured out the easiest way to rearrange the longsocks to show them off better. Today I worked on it and decided to go ahead and get pictures of all the colors (except black), they came out pretty good and I’m really happy with how the pages look, for now. I’m still wearing this pair of the 40s in new natural, this shot shows the unribbed arches better…
for Piphy...
oh, here’s a little picture I took of my hair today…
pretty colors!
PS if I owe you a letter I’m sorry!
will try and get caught up by early this week.

Happy New Year!!!
staying warm in the snow with my newest longsocks
It snowed nearly all day so I stayed cozy in my newest longsocks…
as writer’s block would have it, the harder I try to redo the longsocks page the harder a time I have thinking up a new way to set it up. But I have managed to update several other pages, the wool socks, anklets, cloudtreks (new grey knee highs are in), stripes & newest items. Tomorrow I’ll inventory the socks, fill orders and get back to that longsock project…
