Hurray, guest legs for our midweek enjoyment!

I’m deep in the middle of getting our 75 gallon fishy tank moved & set back up~~~Splash Splash!!!

Angora dots…

These showed up some time in the middle of moving so they never ended up being added. I wasn’t going to try a pair on but I wasn’t as impressed when they arrived as when I saw them in the supplier catalog so I decided I better try them. They are indeed warm & soft though they are only 21% Angora they are 35% wool so that’s a good bit of warmth for your toes. The dots get larger when you put them on and the color looks pinker than they did unworn. I updated the Angora page at long last too…

Seeking warmth & comfort?

Layers, layers & more layers!
I’m almost always cold so I adore warm coats, long socks & fingerless glove type things like these arm warmers. Yes, my fingers still get cold if they aren’t busy but as long as they’re doing things they are comfortable and I love still being able to feel things while keeping my hands & wrists warm. The cotton striped otk’s do a great job of keeping cold out, we don’t have grey & navy like these right now but we do have black & navy, on top of them I put the grey striped skins on inside out so I could fold them back down and have the faux leopard cuff showing, it makes a neat looking combo no? The one bad thing about wearing stripes inside out is that you can see where the colors switch over for each stripe but it wasn’t as noticeable as I thought it’d be.

The long day that was Friday ended with an evening of warm toes by the fire, I plan to spend most of the weekend much the same way!

Do you find yourself wearing shorts when it’s cold just so you can show off your cool legwear? we do and I’ve heard from at least a few others who do also. Today I had to put tights on under my stripeys and leg warmers because the wind was going to go up my shorts and freeze my butt off! I finally got the back ordered EG Smith no foot bootsocks in pinky pink, and what a pink it is! it’s pale, like the color of Mary Kay pink caddies. These are exactly like the longstockings I was talking about yesterday but without feet, they are considerably longer than the bootsocks. Nice & thick just like we like them, they scrunch beautifully around the ankles or can be pulled up to the thighs (I wouldn’t try for more than 19 inches around though)…

I’ve had this pair for three years, since the last time EG Smith offered them in the US. They decided to discontinue them right about the time I realized they were perhaps the most perfect sock ever. I’ve since learned they still have a similar item in Japan and have been begging, pleading & downright bugging them to bring them back, even if only for us, I’ve offered to buy huge quantities because I have so much faith in this style. Well today I finally got the response I’ve been waiting for, or close enough. The last couple of times I called their wonderful sales rep has said she agrees and would work on it, today she said yes, it looks like they should have them in spring!!!! so keep your toes crossed because it looks like our biggest sock dream just might come true after all…

Having trouble sleeping?

Did you know that scientists have found that people sleep better with warm feet? Did you need scientists to tell you that?
no, neither did I, I’ve been aware of it most of my life.
We have alot of great socks to keep your toes warm while you sleep, but many people have told me how much they love sleeping in their longsocks and I have to agree, the 50 inch come all the way up and fold back down covering the thighs with a double dose of warm comfort. And since you’re not walking around while you’re sleeping they stay up without adding garters. When I got dressed up to leave the house today I didn’t want to give up my warm thighs so I added a pair of sock garters at the top (under the fold) and they stayed all the way up the rest of the day. We have orders in to get more of the 50 inch in grey, black & white, hopefully we’ll have them by December, I’ve asked about getting a faster shipment. The ones we’re selling as navy are supposed to be black so if you’re not fussy about your shades of black I suggest those. I’d ordered a special batch of 40 inchers without the ribbing around the feet but the supplier wrote to say the knitters had made them 35, 36 & 37 inches by mistake, I said to go ahead and send them to us as I know they will still be wonderful. I don’t know how much longer it’ll take to get the 40s, but we will get them before winter…

Remember how I said awhile back that I’ve hated tights since I was a child? well, I did, but sock lovers spoke out and said they would love to be able to buy tights here while getting their sock fix so I reconsidered my stance on tights. The first two styles we got (footless & microspandex) were through coincidence/synchronicities, both were sent “by mistake” by two of our top suppliers (I did alert them and paid for both~:). Now we also have the EG Smith tights which claim to be the “World’s Greatest Tights” in seven colors plus their Bigger & Better Tight in four more colors (all four that they offer for this size), now, the label isn’t clear on what the sizing difference is on these two, the first one claims to fit all sizes from petit people smaller than me to larger people (the label shows a man weighing 195 lbs). I’m calling in another order this week so I’ll see if they can clarify, in the meantime these really are the greatest tights I’ve ever worn! I chose moonrock but will soon want at least one more color because not only is the fit superb but I really am warmer in them. An added benefit to wearing tights is that socks seem to stay up better over them so you’re likely to see alot more of these with this winter’s sock shots. After nearly a month of not updating the Newest Items page I’ve now updated it twice in the past week and am currently caught up (I think). We have new colors of fuzzy socks (two more are due later this week too!), new Angora leg warmers (only $12 a pair for 70% Angora!) and finally some decent & inexpensive black & grey otks! For the next two months I’m going to focus more on keeping an ample supply of what we already have rather than bringiong more new stuff in. That doesn’t mean that we won’t get more new stuff or that we won’t run out of stuff we already have but it will be my focus.

These arm warmers came in Friday and are great for these chilly days we’re having. They are 75% lambswool so they are nice and warm while allowing your fingertips full freedom to touch grip & feel. Being a light pink (nearly peach actually) they showed dirt at the end of the first day so I filled a small sink with some soapy water and rinsed them clean, hung them over some towels to dry & put them right back on in the morning. We have them in a nice grey too, $10 a pair, available here.
