Somewhere between a sock & a stocking, socklings!
In between getting all the new items photographed & added in I found time to pamper my feet a little with my foot fetiche overnight intensive foot repair cream. I love the way it smells! then I realized I hadn’t brought a fresh pair of socks with me to seal in the moisturizer so I had my highly esteemed assistant bring me a pair from our sock box, any pair I said, preferably something light & not very long (it was warm in here at the time). He came back with a pair of socklings in Venus red, I’d never worn the venus red, when they first came in we each picked a pair and this was the pair he’d chosen, they’re soooo soft & comfy! and really pretty, I added some nice new pictures of them (in full color) on the socklings page which is now all updated with the new banner & drop down menus. Now that I have all of last week’s new items up I can start on adding this week’s…

it was a picture much like this one that first inspired me to take my own pictures. Originally I thought I’d use a mannequin, I’d seen it done reasonably well on a couple of sites, but they were clothing sites & clothes look far better on mannequins than socks & stockings do. Being my own model and photographer has saved me a small fortune, though it sometimes brings attention my shy side isn’t sure how to handle. In the beginning it was hard enough to show off my socked feet and I told almost no one that these pictures were in fact of me, not even friends or coworkers knew. The thought of displaying tights or pantyhose was way too much, but the time has come and I’m long since over the worry of showing my thighs & hips. I tried to make the tights shots show the products accurately without being too revealing, I had to reshoot the spandex tights because the first set didn’t meet those goals. I now present the tights page, we only have three styles but will be adding to it throughout fall & winter and for years to come. As for the new banner, I have some more work to do to it, I need to clean it up & make the lines sharper, I just couldn’t wait to share it…

I love these tights! I wore them all day yesterday, they remind me of my very first pair of leggings, I still treasure that pair. These are even higher quality & are sure to last at least as long. Today I’m wearing royal blue bootsocks while working on the tights page & other little updates throughout the site. Since there are already several good shots of these pretty royal blues I wanted to show off something even more fun. I set up my backgrounds outside yesterday to catch the lovely warm fall lighting late in the day. I got my remote shutter release & set up my tripod and took a series of usable shots changing exposures & outfits & nothing else. Click the image above, then the image in the next page and a small animation will show you the whole set, I kept it small because there are alot of images that would take forever to load.
One last thing for this weekend…

They weren’t what I ordered, I had ordered 2 dozen of the cotton otk’s when these arrived in their place. Since I was planning on adding EG Smith tights anyway I decided to keep them. I called & let them know to go ahead and bill me for these and to send the correct items asap as we were nearly out. The funny thing is that the same week these accidentally arrived Leg Avenue also sent me tights I hadn’t ordered! (those are the micro spandex tights I was wearing under the Angora stockings in yesterday’s shot) both *should* be available here this weekend, I have to build them a tights page and took alot of great pictures these past couple of days to use for it…
now I just need to get them all edited & put together.

…we sent that order US postal first class, yesterday afternoon!

the fine folks in the Orkney islands have sent us another batch of fabulous socks & leg warmers. We’ve carried a few of their items since last winter, not only do they assure the happiness of their Angora rabbits, they also make what must be the finest Angora items in an amazing array of colors. Such finery comes at a price however, so we only have limited quantities on hand. This time around I restocked both the long socks & leg warmers in black & ivory, and added these blackberry stockings (36 inch long socks, from toe to top) & chocolate leg warmers (dark chocolate, 30 inches). I also brought in a trio of their ankle length, which are perfect for bed socks, in soothing lavender, lemon & sage. I took pictures but haven’t been able to make the sage show accurately so for now you’ll just have to use your imagination. The rest are viewable (and purchasable) on the Orkney page. Since they have no elastic in the ribbing of the cuffs you may want to add sock garters to keep the long styles up as I did here…

At $18 a pair they’re not among our least expensive socks so I only chose three colors to start us off: tasty chocolate, lovely bordeaux & serious looking olive green. There are three more to choose from when space & budget allow, orange, grey & blue. For now if you want tweed in grey or blue you’ll have to settle for the midcalf version.
After three years of writing individually to confirm each & every order I’ve decided on a basic confirmation letter that will go out when each order is approved online. If you’ve ordered recently you probably got a similar confirmation while I was testing them. Now that letter has shipping & return information and we will only write if we have a question or concern regarding your order or,of course, if you write us. I know it’s a little less personal but it is necessary as I’m not a fast typist & it’s become time consuming lately and will only get worse towards the holidays. I also think this will look more professional and hopefully answer a few common questions before they arise. Another very recent change has been in the resizing of the drop down buttons when you go to the purchase menu, I did this because some items now have many options & this new size should keep them all visible. We may need to switch to plain black text on white yet but I really like the pretty colors & would like to keep them if at all possible. Not all the pages have been updated with this yet. There is much updating to do here every day now, many styles are coming in and some are running out…
out today are plain black acrylic leg warmers, natural sweater leg warmers & red & black cotton stripes, all are being reordered. What new goodies will we have tomorrow? You’ll just have to wait and see…

Being a libra I’ve never been good at picking favorites and, to be honest, I was anti-pink for many years. I don’t know if there are nicer pinks now or if I’m just turning into a purple haired pink loving old lady way earlier than I expected~;) I just think these are such a pretty shade of pink, at night under artificial lighting they look like a warm shell pink, in the daytime they look paler & cooler to me, plus they are sooo soft!
at 36 inches long I can pull them over my knees & secure them with sock garters, scrunch them all the way down to my ankles like I have them now or wear them to bed like I did last night, either way they just might be my fav’s, they are definitely in the top 5.
With the Gothic Beauty ad now in full circulation we have definitely gotten busier! we will soon be moving to allow us enough space to stock even more socks & work effectively while selling them. We’ve had a few glitches, some have been out of our hands (our secure server for payment processing is on the east coast & had some outtages due to last week’s storm), some are issues we are working hard to prevent in the future. I remain grateful for all the people who take the time to write & let us know how we’re doing, if an order’s late the sooner we know the sooner we can track it down & straighten it out, if an order arrives quickly & the new owners love their socks it really brightens our day to hear about it. If we don’t hear from you we will assume all is well in your sock world & we won’t worry about you…

these are thin & could snag easily, plus they are so long I had to readjust them so the top stripes were down low enough to see, this is good news for all of you with long legs! They stayed up perfectly all by themselves & come in 5 colors, these of course are pink, there is an equally neon-y orange, white, beige (you could also call it tan, maybe even mocha) and red, bright fire red, all with black Cuban feet, back seams & top stripes.I’ve added them to the thigh high page which is now more chaotic than ever. I have a simple idea to fix it up though, so, in amongst my dozens of other ideas & projects this week I’ll *try* to fix it up (I’m not promising though~;)

These are the Yikes Pinkos, I didn’t order this particular one so Mr Heaven, who invented these, sent me a pair to try. Isn’t that sweet of him? I love free socks as much as anyone so I’m quite happy to give them a try. I ordered in a dozen each of three of his available styles and gave them their own page. What’s most unique about these is not the cool patterns they come in but the fact that you get not two but three to a set (that’s right, they’re not pairs, their sets!). But what do you do with the third one til you need it? I pinned mine to the wall above my desk, I’ll always know where it is and it makes a fine piece of artwork.
As for the virtual terminal problem I mentioned this morning, it seems to have cleared up, orders are completing & invoices are being sent. Please please let me know if you have any troubles, I always confirm all orders so if you think you’ve ordered but don’t hear from me let me know & we’ll take care of it.

earlier this week a few people wrote me asking where their orders were…
in each case the order had not completed despite it appearing to from their end.
This morning I had no orders showing and one letter saying they were unable to order so I checked and there were orders, the confirmations just hadn’t been sent and the person who was unable to order really hadn’t completed her transaction. This is a pretty crappy way to start off the weekend! I wrote tech support & await their solution. If you are trying to order & having a problem please write me & let me know what you are experiencing. I’ll switch companies if I have to, though with hundreds of items to recode I can assure you I’m in no hurry to do that, I will do what it takes to keep shopping here as painless & safe as possible.
