Foot Traffic’s Lace Topped Rag Socks…
These are sort of a sleeper of a sock, one I secretly adore, then wonder why the rest of the world doesn’t love them as much as I do. They are topped with the kind of lace that isn’t so frilly it can’t go through a normal wash load with the rest of my clothes. Thick enough to be a slipper sock for around the house or add that extra bit of padding in looser shoes, they make a perfect boot sock too. They may be one of our thickest short socks (the New Zealand Bedsocks are perhaps a tad thicker), but I still enjoy wearing them even on warmer days because they breathe well, I even managed to stretch the toe out a little to wear comfortably with my flip flops yesterday.
I only have a pair of the pretty rose tinged oatmeal, but am sure to have one of each before long. Because, you know, you can never have too many socks!

A few days ago I got a call from our sister sock company, Sock It To Me, inviting me to see their new arrivals and be among the first to get some. I was honored, got myself over there as soon as I could and picked out nearly two dozen styles, all of which are available in our store. Thursdays are when we usually take pictures of new styles and this week I picked the five I liked best, with a little help from my friends here at work, to shoot first for the site. This will be our third year sponsoring Pride, this time we get a booth right by the river (w1). I’ll bring plenty of sunscreen and am hoping the chances for rain diminish by Saturday because I want to show off my socks and keep my toes dry at the same time. I’ll be wearing my fit flops because last year I heard over & over: “Oh, I like socks, but in summer I prefer to wear flip flops…” and if you have ever tried to wear your thongs, slip slops or what-have-you in the rain you know what I’m saying.

As professional sock dreamers we get a lot of special requests and a fair amount of people write us with brilliant sock ideas they’d like to see come true.
Many months ago I got such a letter from a nice young man named Ken who showed me what I thought was a pretty smart idea with a back to school theme. I asked him to let me know when they were in production and ready to order…

In the nearly seven years that I’ve been doing this journal thing I have gone from doing it painstakingly via my old web building software & html in a special section right on the site when I started up the Socks of the Day in July 2002…

This is India, she is leaving us for Las Vegas later this week to be with the one she loves. The Simply adjustable Sock Garters shown on her in the previous post were her idea, we had a damaged pair of the traditionals in our unsellable returns box and her socks weren’t staying up. She not only solved her own problem but she solved one we’ve had for ages because our ability to get the buttoned garters has been sporadic at best and these are even simpler, no buttoning required (and you could still adorn them if you wanted). She will be greatly missed by all of us for her hard work, creativity and great taste in leg wear. The boots? I found those at a little boutique in Seattle called Diva Dollz, the brand is Miz Mooz, don’t know the model name though.
